Vuci is a good player as we all know, but not WC. Yes as many have stated is the best of what we have & I get that, but this season dispite his injuries hasn't given us much to shout about apart from the day he took his shorts off. Which drew attention and made me thought "damn, didn't know he was still on"

Vucinic is good, Jovetic is $#@!.
You get stupid people, but I don't believe for one sec you're this stupid.

So he's still worth 30 million to you? His numbers certainly don't prove he's that much more consistent. 12 goals and 4 assists. definitely not a 30 mill player.
I have seen quite a bit of the player, although less this season due to time constraints. Last year, I would have dropped 30M on him in a heartbeat - in a split second, done deal. I think most here would have. After this season, the hype has died down, City is changing managers (I saw them as the major competition for his sig), and we may even be able to get him for less than that. I can pretty much guarantee you that Marotta is sure as hell going to try!

But if you're asking me whether I would drop 30M on him right now, yes, I probably would, because I understand that players often have a difficult time when a move away from their club collapses; that environment is not favourable for him right now, he needs to feel the love from the fans, and I think he needs a club that can match his ambitions. I'm also basing my judgment on him over a larger body of work. It might seem like overpaying right now, but teams usually overpay a little for this type of quality, IMO. When the player is as young, and talented as Jovetic, with a good head on his shoulders, and widely respected on the continent, stumping up the extra 5M or whatever, it's a risk I would probably take, because I'm convinced by the player - he has a lot going for him.

This is a player who can grow with the club; he fits a huge need, he's spoken highly of Juve and is comfortable with the league/language, and he's a solid character, who has demonstrated the ability to rise to the occasion in big matches (CL). He would compliment our other attackers and has solid chemistry with the man who is currently our most important forward. He can play both forward positions in the 3-5-2, we can give him a salary bump and still stay within our parameters, and he is going to have considerable resale value - even if things don't work out at Juve.

So yeah, I don't really see 30M on Jovetic as being quite the catastrophic risk others around here seem to think it is, when I look at all of the factors. Especially when you add in all the variables and the some of the intangibles possessed by the player. It's a move I would make.

I honestly couldn't give a toss. I believe his value is around 20-25m tops. And if we were to pay that amount I certainly wouldn't cry bout it neither bout his Fiorentina form this season. The guys got great ability and I've always been a fan of his.

Melo, are you serious or just trolling? You said this 11 months ago:

And this

I liked him back then. I am obviously exaggerating by calling him shit, but if we signed him last season, he would use this season with us to recover and find his form and play well from next season.

But now he has been at Fiorentina one season, not impressed and their club wants €30 mill for him. We could get a much better player for that price.

I remember a couple summers ago Fiorentina and Juventus came to Toronto and I when I saw Jovetic smash a goal in, from quite some distance, I knew he'd be a great buy for Juventus. I've admired him ever since. :touched:

Well said. I obviously don't rate him quite as highly as you do but he is young. 30 mill imo is just too risky for him imo.

You can thank the likes of Hustini for that :D

But not anymore.
So, is it a question of whether or not you admire the player anymore, or for that price.

I still love him, but if it were my money, I'd be less inclined to pay the 30 million now. Especially given the notion that his relationship with the fans is on shaky ground.

We shouldn't pay €30m for him.
So then what's your valuation on the player, Jay? There's no way Fiorentina will let him go for 20M. I honestly think they'll probably be asking for at least 25M in cash, and potentially a favourable deal for them on one of our surplus pieces.

Maybe even a similar transaction to the 22M and change for Amauri, with Nocerino going in the opposite direction for 7M and change, or whatever it was.

Well said. I obviously don't rate him quite as highly as you do but he is young. 30 mill imo is just too risky for him imo.
There is always considerable risk involved in transactions of this type, but fair enough, brother.
