Early this afternoon, Giorgio Chiellini and Jean Alain Boumsong underwent nuclear magnetic resonance scans (NMR) for the muscular problems sustained during the Trofeo Berlusconi. The scans, carried out at Turin’s CTO hospital by Dr Carlo Faletti, revealed a 1st – 2nd degree strain of the left thigh for Chiellini. It will be 6 weeks before he resumes physical activity. Boumsong sustained a 1st degree strain to the lateral gemellus muscle of the left leg. The prognosis is around 3/4 weeks.
After a check-up this afternoon at the Juventus Center, Raffaele Palladino will begin a phase of rehabilitation lasting a few days for the after-effects of the sprain he suffered on Saturday. It is hoped he will return in time for Saturday’s trip to Mantova or next Tuesday’s home game against Cesena.
It’s good news for Giannichedda and Camoranesi, who should be able to resume training with the rest of the squad this week.
Marco Marchionni will intensify his training sessions this week and should join up with the rest of the group as early as the beginning of next week.
Emanuele Belardi, who underwent surgery on the meniscus in his left knee on the 20th December, will begin running work and preparatory exercises this week with a view to resuming work on the training round next week.
Nicola Legrottaglie continues with his rehabilitation and has already entered the first phases of physical preparation. He is expected to resume activity with the squad at the beginning of February.
Igor Tudor is expected to return to Italy on Sunday after a period of rehabilitation for the injury to his right ankle, operated on last August. His fitness will be assessed on Monday when he resumes physical activity.
