:wallbang:
do you understand something in football, I think it was a very clever decision from Capello to play with 3 DM, we played away from home against a strong team, this means we need more controll in midfield and strong defence.
I do not agree. There is absolutely no need for three defensive midfielders against a team like Udinese...they pose no outstanding threat in the middle of the pitch, Giannichedda just occupied space in front of the back four basically doing nothing, and with the two best defensive midfielders in the world they should be able to manage by themselves. Giannichedda accomplished far LESS than what Emerson would be able to do in the same holding role, and it just boggles my mind why Emerson was playing right midfield.

Capello tried to fit three defensive midfielders in the same team and it did not work. Udinese were still able to outplay us in the middle of the pitch even with Giannichedda holding centrally and Vieira and Emerson coming back to help out...in fact Udinese should have scored during that period. You could try to fit four defensive midfielders in the same team, but it will never work. There was no balance yesterday and with Emerson playing out of position on the right we had no attacking threat down the right flank. Giannichedda did absolutely nothing besides intercept a couple passes and his presence out there was redundant... Emerson would have performed the duty much better and with Camoranesi we would have posed a greater threat to Udine's defense.

If u were the ref, watching Udine players make desperate dives all day long,u know that those players dont play but "simulate"
and u werent sure about the situation,
who would u trust, one of the best defenders in the world who knows millions ways to deposses world class attackers
or a desperate diving before even touch the ball unexperianced attacker?

As i said from the beginning of the game,
the Udinese players know they cant score like men and they will try to win a penalty,
bad luck for them, they arent better artists than football players.

And i dont afraid to admit we had some luck on this game
and not the extraterestrial "determination" Milan had last year in the last minutes...

in rest i agree with u...

PS:any word about the first Gila goal?

Great post finally.
To much bullsh*t from time to time in here.

I both agree and disagree.
I disagree in that Giannichedda did not accomplished anything. He took away all space in midfield for Udine. But that does not mean that I wanted him on the pith, neither that I like playing with 3 defensive midfielders.

I agree 100% with that there were no balance yesterday.
This is a big problem cause it’s not the first time this occurs with Juve.
It is very obvious that we often miss in communication between midfield and attackers. We get a “long” team meaning to much space between midfield-attackers.
We also have far to few people following up when we attack witch clearly reduces the possibilities and the striking options. And as you mentioned we totally lacked any kind of offensive qualities on the wings witch is necessary in modern football.

Thank you, Andy.

Now I am an unabashed fan of quality defensive football. I've made that pretty clear here over the past couple of seasons on this forum. But after watching this match last night, I was dumbfounded and incredulous as to how any sane person could field three defensive midfielders against a squad with a soft center these days like Udinese. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

If Pizarro was still on the squad, I might hesitate before being so stubborn about this. But yesterday's game proved case and point to me that the strategy was foolish and almost, and should have, resulted in failure.

in a way this seasons juve team reminds me a lot of chelsea.

both teams have managers who main priority is just to win no matter how their team obtains that goal.

its early days in the season and bout teams are only shown glimpses of their potental but so far have 100% records while their respective opponents have been inconsistent impressing in some matches and dropping points in others.

juve may not have the same financial backing but some smart moves by moggi in the summer has added strenght in depth to this juve squad, except most of juves subs are not high priced huge ego players, but good team players.

juve are developing that sweet winning habit, while not playing great, but as confidence grows competition for places intensifies, players rediscover their form, the team performs better. i am very hopefull for the season ahead.

its a long season injuries bans etc will have their part to play, so like last season zalayeta pessotto and birindelli came in and produced the goods players like mutu, chellini, giancheidda etc will all be needed at some stage

Well said Andy...

What , are we going to play this system against the likes of Milan, Inter, Fiorentina, then in the CL against Bayern, Chelsea.....

It barely worked yesterday, and it WON'T work against better teams !!

Did anyone REALLY watch Blasi yesterday ??

He doesnt look comfortable out there, and lacks confidence with the ball

He would be more confortable putting groceries into bags at the local supermarket, if you asked me...

I saw the game and can´t agree...
Thought he looked like he´s learning his position and he did a good job in offense.

Read my game review if you want to get my exact opinion.

I thought Blasi was good Vin...Don't forget that he's new to that position and he's doing good so far not great tho.

Anyhow you could be right.

Watching the Ud-Juve match

29' of 2nd half:eek::eek::eek:

Abbiati cleared the goal.....with his heal....while on the ground...by accident .

This team is lucky, as well as good. Wow. :)

I wouldn't go so far to say that he was good per se. But he was effective. (It was his on-target deep pass from the wing to DP that set up our only goal, afterall.)

:D I had to replay that one on my DVR several times to make sure it was his foot and not some gopher that popped out of the ground to suddenly send the ball backwards.
