neved was good by his standards so far this season but as far as im concerned with the game gio played in Coppa he deserved to start of nedved. i just dont understand what it takes for this kid. freaking Pato starts everygame, Gio gets 5 mins here, 10 mins there

Teams that win the scudetto find a way to win when they don't play well. We did not do that today.

For the most part, I would say we looked the stronger team in terms of abilities, but Lazio executed a lot more than we did. Their finishing did them in, though, as they did a lot more to set up dangerous play than we did. They just couldn't pull the trigger.

So overall, while the game was a bit disappointing, a point away at Lazio is never a bad thing. Especially when we aren't playing well.

Manninger - 5 - Completely at fault for the first goal. But did make up for it later clamping down on some second-half Lazio runs.

Mellberg - 6 - Too many giveaways. Unnecessary. But made a crucial clear towards the end of the match that preserved the point. And did get a nice header for the point. I cannot rate him lower on those merits alone.

Ariaudo - 6 - So far, so good. A couple of really good passes. Needs to improve his positional sense, but I have to give him a break because he's new. Could be promising, but it's way too early still.

Legro - 6.5 - Pretty solid, both in covering for defensive holes and in creating some chances going forward/on set pieces. My MOM.

Molinaro - 6 - Generally useful on defense. Prevented crosses, and often marked well. Didn't get anything going offensively, however.

Marchionni - 5 - Insufficient in more than a few ways. The heel flick at the end was nice, but it was only brief moments like that which were remotely redeeming.

Sissoko - 6 - Needed to do more to preserve possession. But made good tackles (save for the idiotic one that will suspend him), and a couple of good offensive runs.

Zanetti - 5 - Shaking some rust perhaps. But we really needed him to step up and create more in this match. Our midfield was pretty anemic, and he played a big role in that.

Nedved - 6 - Gave some decent coverage of the field on either end. Wish we had some technically better passes. Some good thinking today, just his touch was off.

Del Piero - 5.5 - Seemed to play back more to compensate for our midfield woes. But even so, could not create much today.

Amauri - 5 - For some reason, he didn't seem to get as involved in the build-up of play as usual. And it hurt.

Subs:

Marchisio - 5 - Didn't make his presence known and should have.

Giovinco - 4.5 - Maybe I'm being too harsh, but he was poor.

Coach:

Ranieri - 5 - Subbing Zanetti was probably a good choice. But given the rest of the play, we needed to do more. Uninspired performance all around.

We woke up too late. Draw is better than nothing, but we could really added pressure on Inter here. Seriously it felt as if Ranieri said draw is good enough. Sadly i feel it might be a huge opportunity lost here.

Ranieri does not have a problem with bringing Giovinco on earlier. He does have a problem with taking Del Piero out early. It's not easy to take off the captain at 60 minutes or so, because it would seem like he'd play horrible and was the worst man on the field... Alex would surely be angry and Ranieri will not want to mess up with Alex
he couldve taken off nedved. and if alex is playing badly he should come off. its that simple. if you noticed del piero was in the midfield area a lot, this is because of the ball not be able to reach our attack a problem we have had before.

after the first half we only had 1 shot on goal and that was mellbergs header.

good yes, but inter have hit a bad patch so we need to capitalise on every opportunity we get
and thats exactly what Juve did
closing the gap from 7 to 3 only

I still think that we are doing very well
Its Lazio in Olympico and getting 1 point from them is not an easy thing
We all know that Lazio against Juve is not like Lazio against anyone else except roma

    His passing was awful though.

With some hindsight, I would have taken out Zanetti and Marchionni and put in De Ceglie and Giovinco and played Nedved in the middle.
Well said. Or take Zanetti out put Giovinco in, Push him to the left and Nedved to play in the center next to Sissoko.

agreed, and marchisio in that small space of time really put in his claim for his CM spot, zanetti underperformed and should be scared of loosing his spot
True...although I'm not worried about Zanetti. He needs another 90min to get back into action. Marchisio on the other hand looked solid and strong and he's just improving.

Lazio was not very inspiring to me, and we could have won this match if we were smarter on the pitch and smarter on the sidelines. The fact of the matter is our passing was horrendous and we couldn't keep possession, two basic elements of football that unfortunately seem to plague our side more than anything else. Too many times we gave away possession cheaply through the usual long balls and lethargic movement on the pitch, especially on the wings where any sort of consistency was basically missing. I find it particularly scary that a right-back has so few options that he has to resort to giving the ball away further up the pitch when he only has to deal with about 140 degrees instead of 360, as the central midfielders have to deal with. But these are problems that won't go away, so we just have to deal with them.

The substitutions were indeed imbecilic once again, where players who provided us nothing stayed on the pitch while a magician like Del Piero was brought off. Giovinco should have came in for either Marchionni or Nedved, the logical decision, but instead we are stuck using players who did not really add much. I mean, if that's what Ranieri wants to do, that's what he wants to do. I can't do anything about that. It is what it is.

Manninger - Made up for his first mistake, so he did OK - 6

Mellberg - Too many give aways but good goal. This guy is better centrally - 6

Legrottaglie - Thought he did well, not many errors - 6.5

Ariaudo - I think he did fine. His positioning was good, he made some crucial interventions, and despite his early nervousness he came back strong for the rest of the match. Good job bruv. 6.5

    Molinaro - No comment - 5.5

Marchionni - Sorry but it's friggin' retarded this guy starts in front of Giovinco. He does absolutely nothing and needs to step off now - 4.5

Sissoko - Not the best of matches I'm afraid. He did not have control of the midfield like he usually does, and his passing could have been better - 5.5

Zanetti - Tried to make sense with the ball but did not have much help. Glad hes back though - 6

Nedved - He cannot keep playing all these games. A fraction of the player he used to be, which is sad - 5.5

Amauri - Very active despite no service whatsoever, did not have much help out there - 6.5

Del Piero - Did not have much help either - 6.5

Marchisio - Did OK for the time out there - 6

Giovinco - Came in too late to make a difference - NA

    Ranieri - Whatever

    Overall, needs to be better.

the first sub should have been gio for zanetti and push gio up behind the strikers with momo in the middle. We need a link between midfield and offense and i am afraid we need an AMC for that. Too many bad passes to our offense, its a wonder that we dont seem to score many breakaways, most corners, free kicks or tap ins etc.

I think Amauri didn't get as involved as usual because Del Piero was dropping deeper and he was told to/felt he had to stay right up font.

I felt like our players entered the match without proper attitude. However, I prefer the idea that we were surprised by Lazio's attack from the very beginning of the match. After all, if it wasn't Manninger's fault, we should have won, 1-1 is a fair result.

I don't think we should blame Ranieri for substituting Alex late. First, it's not because Alex played under the par but he barely had no chance that Alex could not score or really did something. So Ranieri were patient and wait for Alex's chance before make the substitution.

Lastly, I'm happy because Marchioni played really well. Also my compliment to Mellberg. We still have chance to catch up with Inter. Guys, don't be harsh, Lazio was really difficult to beat, especially in their home.

exactly what I said in the live thread, camo is taylor made for these sorts of situations. He's rugged enough but also posses that match winning quality, in this respect he can be more decisive than dp who can be blocked out of a game, camo on the other hand will fight his way into it, he thrives on it
