We have seemingly no link from midfield to attack...its always our defense kicking the ball upfield. Zanetti usually is that link but was invisible tonight, as well as marchionni. Momo is our only consistent midfielder this year. DP and Amauri did not get one good pass today and maybe 2 crosses that could have developed into a goal. Our possession was horrid today as we kept giving the ball away and when our defense is as thin as it was today that is the worst possible thing we could do. We need strong more capable midfielders that can create more, open up play more, etc. I think we should have played the same way we did with catania, CR has no backbone which is why Gio didnt start after playing a great game and why gio didnt come on until we had freaking 10 mins left.

Tonight i noticed one big difference between pre-Calciopoli Juve and this Juve.
In 2005 we would've gotten a penalty when Amauri felt in Lazio's box. It was a close call, and it wouldn't have been scandalous if the ref gave us a penalty, but he didn't and he would have in 2005 or if it was Inter or Milan playing tonight.

in the first half neddy shouldve gone down and we wouldve had a penalty for sure. IMO

i would say zanetti at least a 5 and maybe a 5.5 for amauri . other than that i completely agree.

i think mellberg has a good shot for MOM he scored for us and was solid. he made a good challenge late on when it was 2 on 1.

His passing was awful though.

With some hindsight, I would have taken out Zanetti and Marchionni and put in De Ceglie and Giovinco and played Nedved in the middle.

Zanetti/Marchionni were much worse. Nedved had a good game compared to most in the team.

agreed, and marchisio in that small space of time really put in his claim for his CM spot, zanetti underperformed and should be scared of loosing his spot

Ranieri does not have a problem with bringing Giovinco on earlier.
He does have a problem with taking Del Piero out early.

It's not easy to take off the captain and idol of the team at 60 minutes or so, because it would seem like he'd play horrible and was the worst man on the field...
Alex would surely be angry and Ranieri will not want to mess up with Alex

I kind of disagree with you. I think we played an alright game. Keep in mind that we are playing away and Lazio were playing good. We conceded an unfortunate goal but we showed character by pulling even fast. We were denied a PK and a few FK from great locations. We controlled the game while Lazio returned back and stayed at their ground. We were playing with a patched up team.
I think we were just a few calls away from winning the game.
Well Del Piero once said it, the ref is part of the game's situation..

I'm aware it was away against Lazio but how we played was not good at all.We didn't want to lose this,that was our main objective.But how we played in the first half was just awful.How did we control the game?That's not possible since our defense was the positive thing tonight.First 25 minutes we had like 1 shot where Lazio dominated all the way,not much changed till the end of first half.We looked better in the second but again our midfield was clueless and our strikers didn't have much support up front.

moli- my MOTM he got bossed round by pandev a bit but stood up strong and made himself useful to nedved with selfless runs down the flankall night and his tracking back was pretty good too
