We did push for the second goal , there was a good change with Zebina pass and Iaquinta (I think) shoot blocked. That was in the dying minutes of the game , if we managed to put that in, it would have been sweet, but draw is the fairest result, IMO.

it wasn't legro's fault. Like I said we played an offside trap. Legro, chiellni, and molinaro all stepped up. grygera stayed back keeping cruz onside. I wouldn't blame legro.
I don't think so, look at the pic...Legro was way of his mark, every one else was staing put, so Grygera didn't massd up...

Can Juve Compete For The Scudetto? Last night Juventus and Inter played out a fiery 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico. However based on last night’s performance and the season as a whole so far - can the Bianconeri seriously challenge for the Scudetto come May?

Following their promotion from Serie B, Juventus were tipped by many people to struggle this season. The Calciopoli scandal had badly taken its toll on the club, with no less than five world class players (Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram, Gianluca Zambrotta, Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic) leaving the club last summer.

However La Vecchia Signora have performed admirably and currently sit in fourth position, just four points behind Inter after 11 games played. This gap would have been even closer had Juve not been robbed by a scandalous referee during the week nine defeat to Napoli.

Last night Juventus recovered from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Inter in a ferocious Derby d’Italia. In the build-up to the game David Trezeguet had said that the match would be a pointer to see just how far the team could go this season.

So what were the conclusions?

Well if the Italian Championship was based on grit, determination and heart – then Juventus would be the winners hands down.

The Bianconeri have a fighting spirit imprinted in their DNA – they just never know when they are beaten. Trailing last night to Julio Cruz’s goal, Juve held on when Inter threatened to score a second, and were rewarded as Mauro Camoranesi equalised with just 12 minutes remaining.

This season Ranieri’s men have won crucial points with numerous late goals. Against Cagliari in week two, the team had been playing against 12 men for the whole game but managed to find the mental strength to grab a 90th minute winner through Giorgio Chiellini.

In week four Vincenzo Iaquinta rescued a point against Roma with an 87th minute header, while in the Turin derby a week later David Trezeguet scored with the last kick of the game to earn a 1-0 victory over Torino.

On the technical side of things, Juventus are perhaps a little short, and this will probably count against them come the end of the season. Despite dominating possession for long spells of the game yesterday, they struggled to create many clear-cut openings.

The Bianconeri are probably lacking a playmaker in midfield, someone who can open up an opposition defence with a through-pass. They are also short of genuine match-winners in their team – players who can win a game by themselves with a piece of individual brilliance.

Inter have the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Figo, Milan have Andrea Pirlo, Kaka and Clarence Seedorf, while Roma have Francesco Totti and Amantino Mancini.

Juventus could claim to possess Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved, but due to their advancing years, their moments of brilliance are decreasing game by game.

Juventus, along with Fiorentina, undoubtedly have the best crop of young players coming through in Italy. The likes of Raffaele Palladino, Antonio Nocerino, Claudio Marchisio and in particular Sebastian Giovinco are all stars of the future.

Giorgio Chiellini also showed last night that he is fast becoming the symbol of this Juventus side. The 23-year-old was a colossus and marked Ibrahimovic out of the game with a robust display.

His taunting and mocking of the Swedish star may have gone slightly over the top, however it is sure to have delighted any hardcore Bianconeri fan who feels betrayed by Ibra following Calciopoli.

The future is certainly bright for Juve - however this year may just be a season too early for them.

What are your views? Can Juve compete for the Scudetto? We want to know what YOU think?

I am not blaming you for saying that, but still aren't you a little bit hipocryte when you tell someone that he is Zlatanista or not Juve fan when he says that Zlatan is an excellent player?
Ask the members around here, or I don't know if you were before, everyone we called zlatanista we were right about him.

Plus, it's not me who called that manga hole "Zlatanista" he said it himself that he's a Zlatan fan and every player inform.

Looks like glory-hunter if you ask me.

the way he handled and pissed of Zlatan not perform or not to concentrate are all great things, even the verbal abuse. But punching here and there hitting attackers' heads with his arm and escaping the punishment doesn't make him a hero. I don't give a flying fuck what bullshit media sells, I don't even read what media writes, future captain? that would be the worst thing to happen. A captain should have responsibility for staying in the game firstly, and keep his team calm and concentrated to the game, he is far from being a captain. thou I praise him from day one for his skills and hard work, but he is becoming another Zlatan, another Materazzi that make you disgust from football. I can't believe how you praise what he has done and tell me he is showing future captain signs, knowing you praise Del Piero for his class (which everyone agree with that including me), trouble makers like him always give harms to the team. Zlatan is one of the best talents out there, and I was saying that from day one, but I was first for asking Zlatan to be transfered out for these exact same reasons, because he is an Idiot. If Chiellini keeps on acting like this, I will be the first one to want him out.

Shame he is having this behavior, when I was glad that we had the best replacement we could have for Zambrotta. But he can never have the class of Zambrotta sadly..
I agree that he should be more wise and calmer to be future Captain. I hope and i'm sure with time considering that he's still young he'll develop as a charachter.

I said i can see him as a future captain because he's one of the few player i see on the pitch playing till his last breathe, you don't see that alot in football now-adays, though like i said i pretty much agree that in order to be Captain he'll have to becareful and behave more.

Anyway, it was still a joy and great thing to see Chiellini pissing that idiot.

Palladino MOM? Then what the hell was Zanetti? Palla played nothing special IMO. He was constantly trying to cut through the defense but kept on making the same old, ineffective dribble all the time. Everytime he'd loose a defender he'd stop and get the defender back on him. Overall a solid performance but far from a MOM title.

Zanetti was a true midfield general, the guy never disapoints, he was everywhere on the pitch and I'd keep him in our starting 11 even if he still had Vieira and Emerson as well. He's nothing short of remarkable.
Zanetti is pure class. I agree about Palladino, he was horrible in the second half and no way he could be MoM.

nedved wasnt so bad
he tried hardly in the first half and also gave a man to the defenders.
del piero:rofl:
and what was his last good performance?

Oh fuck, he's back

Actually become calmer and wiser comes with time, in the time being he should enjoy being wild.

Inter ace Ibrahimovic: Juventus urged me to leave
tribalfootball.com - November 04, 2007

Inter Milan ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed he was ENCOURAGED to quit Juventus by Bianconeri directors last summer.

Before last night's 1-1 draw at Juve, super Swede Ibra told Gazzetta dello Sport: "The Juventini may be unhappy, but it isn't my fault I joined Inter.

"The (calciopoli) scandals slowed everything down, I waited for months - in vain - to renew my contract.

"In the end, (sports director Alessio) Secco told me over the phone: 'If there is another team, do not hesitate'."

If that's the truth, poor Secco...:faq2: :disagree:

He said that in the interview yesterday on TV4. He said that all the time during his second season at Juventus he wanted to renew his contract but couldn't reach an agreement. He then said that Calciopoli happened and he had to leave.

He as asked if he still has contact with some of the Juve player. I think he lied with his answer by saying that he still sees Nedved and Trezeguet and a few others.
