Finding opportunities to put someone in behind the defense is a bit difficult when they are parking the bus. Clearly, Pogba's role was to feed the supposedly more talented Marchisio and Vidal while keeping a clean shoppe in the middle of the pitch. He pretty much did that, far better than most would, I must say.

Poulsen was terrible for us and has proved to be poor since leaving. But that is an old and pointless argument.

In his role for sitting and keeping a tidy shop. Sure I will agree that he did that. But he often took the sting out of our attacks with very slow passing and showed a lack of adventure when he was more than capable of finding space that would not have been difficult to move into (particularly in the first half, when we had to rely on Cacares and Barzagli to carry the ball out more often than was necessary) which would have stretched Genoa and created more space for others.

He did the basics, nothing more nothing less.

It just seemed at times that he was too happy to sit and make a simple pass. There is more to playing a sitting midfielder than that and he is capable to doing it.

In his defense he has rarely played that role this season, I think he is more suited to playing further forward and is only 19.

De Ceglie's a beast. He is a our bad LB, converted to LWB, playing more often as a really bad winger due (and here's the fun part) his lack of defending skills.
He should have been sold. We ought to have better reserves for this position anyway. Is Isla expected to challenge Asamoah there, or Asamoah isn't getting back to the midfield in his career @ 352 Juve?
