We looked great in the first half, but in the seocnd half it really looked like Vucinic need some help. We didn't play well till Nesta left the pitch. I didn't understand why Conte doesn't change. Anyway, we were lucky to score late this time, next time we shouldn't fear, and kill the opponent with 2 forwards.
I am always confused by this phrase, why not say we were so damn unlucky that we didn't score before that?

We were not lucky, we pressed and lovely link up play between a tired Vucinic, a tired Vidal then finished off by Marchisio was sensational.

In a game where the opponent deploys 3 man midfields we risk Pirlo and Marchisio being overrun. So 4-3-3 is fine by me aslong as a technical forward like Vucinic plays the lone striker.

The goals were lucky because the first goal was a ricochet and the second was a huge error from the 'keeper.

The overall result was deserved, though.

We hit the post, and Vidal could have easily finished one off, same goes for Marchisio, they were truly lucky not to concede from any of these balls, that's my point.

Playing two forwards doesn't mean we can't play Vidal-Claudio-Pirlo, read my previous posts. If we didn't win this one, it was all Conte's fault.

So we go three at the back? Why move Vucinic out wide when he was doing extremely well centrally?

Until Quag gets back we should keep this one man upfront.

We did win so there's no issue.

Let's talk about some facts that anyone here will agree on, Marchisio does play like shit very often than not however no one here can deny that he got the skill and the vision needed to become a great world class player, and that's something rare to find in that position not to mention for Juve ever since the shit what we have been through, so what are his problems? psychological? fitness? training load? all this can be easily fixed and i am sure Conte is working on it, however trashing him day and night and eventually selling him will result to a situation similar to when Inter sold Pirlo to Milan, now do you want us to live through that?
nope, he has the skills, the talent, the stamina..but he didn't got involved so much 'till yesterday when he was in the box trying to finalise actions. that's why he was so invisible.

well we should keep the 4-2-3-1 and switch to 4-4-2 when the score ain't right

I'm glad Del Piero sat on the bench, he would've disrupted the flow. So Conte did the correct thing with the subs. Matri is going through a rough patch so again I'd have kept him on the bench also.
Lame. Talk some football or stay quiet.

Hence why I mentioned Matri's name more than Ale.

You know Conte said something yesterday and i totally agree with it even though i see your point and i kinda wanted to see a 2nd striker, but tactically he did everything right, he got the team in control and it was all up to luck and players to finish, i mean we didn't lack creativity or anything but taking out a midfielder could have fucked this beautiful flow that we had going and maybe could have been all what Milan midfield needed to breath, changing anything was actually a bit of a gamble especially that any of our 1000000 balls could have easily got in earlier.
I understood Conte's statements I would be stupid to complain since we got our objective 3points.

But lets be realistic here, apart from how we dominated how we pressed we risked playing with Vucinic as lone striker and it was pretty obvious in the Catania game. We look much more dangerous with two strikers.

4-1-4-1 works against big sides. But when you tire your opponents have the balls to put in another striker. Very simple.

I know Mourinho, Ferguson, Lippi would have played with two strikers last night. That's a fact I can confirm.

I do talk football, people bitched before the game about how Vucinic cannot play alone how one striker sucks etc. I laughed at you mugs after the game.

Fact is Del Piero and Matri both suck at the moment and Quag is not fit. Whereas Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio are all in form.

4-3-3 worked last night, we've altered the formations in the past to carry players and it's too much of a hindrance.

Until we get two inform strikers we should change the formation until then it should stay as it is.

You have been way too pessimistic for my liking Rab, but defending Delis is
I wanted to see Del Piero, who didn't want to? But that's not my point, what I'm trying to say is we look better with two strikers, we can finish balls better and we don't isolate the lone striker like we did with Matri against Catania and Vuci against Milan (Vuci's two chances thanks to him and no credits to any team work).

Del Piero or not. We have 5strikers in the team, 4 of them capable of playing together, 2 of them at least can make differences, profit from it and field them.

You laughed? The same way you laughed after Catania's game? When you realized that the 4-1-4-1 didn't work after whining for so long wondering why Conte doesn't use this formation? Soap yourself well.

And if you knew a thing about this game you'd figure out yourself that Vuci had no services and was isolated.

Del Piero and Matri suck :howler:. Okay, guru.

we played barca football by the first goal
still believe our 4-2-3-1 works better then the 4-2-4 since we need to give pirlo space by having two players around him (two who also link up well together)
none of our two strikers partnership has impressed me so far
our midfield is doing everything for us

They have both been isolated yes, you are right. But I understand Conte and what he said about not making any changes. :)

I would like us to start Chievo game with Vuci and Matri though.

I understand him too. But next time people would not understand him if it ended up in a draw like Catania's draw;).

That said apart from his last night's subs, Conte has done what we all wanted, we can't ask for more and I love him immensely.

The only problem with the 3 man MF it's hinder Pirlo's effect, he plays so deep with 2 other MF around that his impact is not felt as much as a 2 man MF where he can go forward and be the one to make the final pass, A lot of passes missed by Marchi and especially Vidal in the final third would've been another story if it was Pirlo.
