Why can't we win the title? If we continue fighting this way, playing with our hearts, playing for the last second, not giving up and fearing no one, then there's no reason to leave Juve out of the title race.

All in all, it's still early to tell, we should at least wait after 10matches, but so far, i'm loving the spirit.
One word: quality

Things should improve when we have Camo, Grygera, Tiago and Marchionni back to full fitness but our central defence still worries me.

that sound's kind of funny coming from a guy who's avatar is rocky.
boxing is a little different than football...

you can take a beating for the entire fight, and then land one punch that knocks your opponent out...not so in football

Exactly. Too many people around here are naive. If we go on to win the title or even mount a serious challenge then I'll eat my words but I just don't think we have the quality and depth to stay with Inter, Milan and Roma. Hopefully we can edge out Fiorentina into 4th because they look very good too.

i dont know how but camo did something excellente and delpiero steal camo gol XDDD but i think that the juve will need a lot of time to adaptate in the serie A couse serie B its a lot diferent, until now the juve has made and excellente appearances but i and all of you know that this will not stay like this cause this new team its accpetable but not excellente so lets give oru best hopes to juventus and win a champions position to demostrate that juve its coming back and will not left anything in theyre path

OK, finally here's my latent match analysis. Holiday weekend in the States, so I only just now got to watch the match on TV. It's interesting to read all the commentary here and then see the game -- because it highlighted some of the very different impressions I had from others of this match.

Here goes...

It actually was rather evenly matched. It was closely fought the entire way through. And while the first half was marked with a lot of Cagliari missed shots wide of goal, and Juve converted on a high percentage of the chances they received, it was a sort of last-man-standing match. Juve had more guts and determination in this one in the end and, IMO, deserved the three points. We were not outplayed. We made more with fewer, but better, chances. And ultimately we did make up for our dumb mistakes.

We probably should have performed better with ball control in midfield. And a better finishing team would have racked up more goals against. But we also surrendered goals only from the spot -- one justified, one not. One fortunately corrected before it got that far.

This match was about grit and guts. Even the big clubs face these types of matches on away turf. So I am not about to sound the alarm over just this match. There's work to do, but getting the three points under the circumstances says you're doing something right. Something we couldn't get done in Cagliari under our recent Scudetto-winning teams. This club can only hope to be as good as those teams on their best days, but it's what we've got -- so we have to deal with it.

Ratings...

Buffon - 6 - He was hardly a god out there. This was no SuperGigi performance -- it was an average Gigi performance. The first half he was barely tested, with many shots sent wide of the net. He made only one real good save all match, and even that was partially due to luck for being in the right place at the right time (all positioning rather than play) when Cagliari was at their most dangerous (around the 70' mark). A good hand on the first PK, but he didn't stop it. All-in-all, an OK performance. Nothing really special. Arguably, his best "saves" were as a backup captain -- keeping hotheads like Chiellini from getting tossed out of the match.

Chiellini - 6 - His match-winning goal, and his almost-penalty stop, were the only two things that saved this from being a poor match for him. His blown assignments on defense, particularly between the 70º & 80º minute, almost cost us the match -- it was as if Cheillini was having his Boumsong moment. Foggia was carving us up due to him being wholly out of position then. And his hot head, if not for Buffon and Andrade shutting him up, could have easily put us a man down during his (rightful) PK protests.

Zebina - 4.5 - I cannot flame him the way others have. His play wasn't that terrible other than for two things: 1) lost his cool on the pitch (and off it), which cost us, 2) man-handled his cover for the rightful second PK awarded. Otherwise he wasn't that bad. Not that mental mistakes are acceptable, but he was physically able to keep in the game.

Andrade - 6 - Other than a blown assignment on a free kick that fortunately didn't cost us, he was relatively stable.

Criscito - 5.5 - Some blown assignments, but not as terrible as I expected. I think he could have successfully finished the match instead of Legro.

Salihamidzic - 6 - Generally good defense and good touches.

Zanetti - 5.5 - OK, but neither good nor terrible. Needs to be more accurate in his passing.

Almiron - 6 - Not as bad as others made him out to be. His long ball, though a bit overreaching and saved by Camo, lead to our second goal. But in the first half, he turned the ball over far too often to the opposition.

Nedved - 5.5 - Wasn't precise enough in his feeds.

Del Piero - 5.5 - Awful blown goal opportunity to end the first half, but he half created that chance from a mistake. Too slow, as others have said. I'd have given him more points, but Camo deserves all the credit for his goal, really.

Trezeguet - 6 - Made his one touch count. But couldn't get involved enough otherwise.

Subs:

Camoranesi - 8 - Was accurate in all the ways the rest of the squad was inaccurate. This guy hasn't recovered yet? MOM. While it's a bit generous to say he was involved in the first goal, he was obviously massively important for the second and should have received credit for the net.

Legrottaglie - 5.5 - I'm sorry: that first PK was bogus. The Cagliari guy just went limbo on him and laid in his lap, hoping to be gifted of a penalty when he was in no real position to threaten goal for an incoming high ball. I think he's a joker as much as anyone, but only when it's really deserved. And by and large, he wasn't that bad today and got caught for stuff he didn't really commit. His only demerits are for getting caught in something he, IMO, wasn't guilty of.

Nocerino - N/A - Not on long enough to matter.

Coach:

I Claudius - 6 - The team could have been better prepared. But the subs were good and the fighting spirit in the team was there.

Worst report so Far.
I m having a feeling that u watched a different match.

Zanetti was so good & he was the only decent player in our midfield before Camo came in,he was covering for the whole midfield & he played for 2 persons himself & the Invisible Almiron.

Almiroon not that bad!!!!!!
Cmon u r givivng him 6 for one good pass,I never saw a CM play that bad for any team in the world for years,HE was invisible,he is supposed to control the rithym & take possesion for our team & Cagliari controlled the rithym & had possesion of the ball most of the match.
I'll give him excuse becoz of his father condition & hope he improves next game but sayin he wasnt that bad is just Funny.

Criscito not as terrible!!
How can any defender play worse than this.
He missed his mark(their new argentinian guy) at least 4 times in 45 min. & only becoz we were so lucky this match,he didnt score.
He didnt manage to get any ball in the air.
I really lost all faith in that guy at least for now & I know Ranieri did too.

Well, I think this was a great match to bring and test Palladino. As you will be well aware I am not one of those Palladino fans. But in spite of my scepticism about his "effectiveness" what Palladino do very well is he is good at carrying the ball, and take on defenders. He isnt quick, in comparison to, Nedved, and Del Piero, he is more than quick enough. Personally, I would have taken Nedved off, because going forward I thought he was worse than Ale.

Having said that, Ranieri already took Criscito with Legro, so he probably had his hands tied down. Criscito was abused physically by Matri, and since Legro came on we dealt crosses much better, but I think Legro was guilty not victim of constant attack in later stage of match. Legro doesnt have great coverage, so he gives a lot of room for Forward to channel their runs. He isnt very good at picking runner, and I remember Foggia having acres of space near second half after Trezeguet's goal, and surprise surprise, all problems came from Cagliari's right hand side in forms of Foggia and Daniele Conti (who was quite easily the best midfielder in the match IMO).

Good point on Nocerino, I dont know why Ranieri didnt bring him earlier. Almiron looked exhaused by 60mins, and we all know Nocerino is a energy bunny. He would have given so much more bite to our midfield, than Almiron. Conti took Almiron to red disctrict towards end of the match. Beside, I hate bringing on player 5 mins left in the back, unless you are taking an attacker off. I think it is unfair on players, and pretty much pointless.
Yeah he had to make some decisions but he didn't and that really infuriated me. Thankfully it didn't cost us this time but it will in the future.
As i saw it nocerino was a must after we scored the 2nd goal to close down the game and provide more drive from the midfield.

Palladino for neddy is good one from you i must say, but Ranieri had one sub to make and he left it till the last minute.

I cant bash him that much as the team won and his subs made the difference.
