I'd like that too, but until our defense starts playing better and starts outplaying the opponents instead of being outplayed, it's better if we have two "defenders" in midfield.
yeh that makes sense but i really wanto see tiago starting in the next few weeks.

The ref: Shall I say terrible? Shall I say weak? Or shall I say a ref who hates Juve?
I won't use the last phrase. I'll go with a ref that was not upto the match level.
He announced to Penalties against Juve. Legro was an idiot to try to pull a stunt like this. This situation is similar to the penalty awarded to us against Livorno. Its funny how people called that a controversial penalty while this is 100% nen-negotiable and clear. The other PK was weak. Zebina was away from the ball and the other player was holding him as well. Too weak to be called, let alone called as a second PK in the game.

Best Referee I've seen in a long time.

Coz we dont have a decent CB to play beside Andrade & if Chiellini took the role,we will have a big problem in the left coz Molinaro is really poor defensivly.
Grygera played a lot as a CB with Ajax & he was always good
I think that putting Giorgio in the center would waste his talent and our sharpness on the left flank. Guy is having a great start on the left flank this season, smart foward runs, great crosses and even goals...

And for the central defenders.....they need time, playing time to grow up and make a good partnership...but somehow i don't belive in cristico. He seems to small for me,even for Ranieri....when we are cornering he spends his time on our half as a last man. Is this a trust in his areal ability?!

I
Also, I do not understand the Iaquinta bashing as with his presnce Juventus have much more chances of hitting teams on counter attacks than with slow Del Piero. Del Piero has skills for sure and his brilliant touch but this team needs pace and Iaquinta has it.
We really could've used Marchionni down the left yesterday, he would've destroyed Cagliari on the counter. There was loads of space, but Almiron, Nedved and DP made no use of it. Marchionni isn't due to return before october though, is he?

Anyone else think that we won't see Marchionni in a Juve shirt again? I was thinking about how much we needed right wingers yesterday and what if he wasn't injured.... would he have performed. As you saw yesterday, Mauro made a huge impact. Maybe Claudio has lost faith in him because of his injuries.

I am not talking about providing speed for the team.
Last night everytime Alex touches the ball,he takes it & start dribbling in SLOWMOTION & thats really irritates me,Sometimes these dribbling could get us decisive freekicks but it really slows down the play & give a chance for the whole team to take their places in defence.
Ok I understand he is not a fast player but he must compensate this by playing one touch ball & dribbling only when it will be effective.
Anyway I am still convinced that Alex is a MUST in every game coz his qualities are always decisive for us to win But he must speed up his play(I am not taling about getting faster,I am talking about playin fast).
thats the thing though with last night as he didn't have anyone to give the passes to and when he did he delayed it that split second and that was it.
But yeah i see your point, and i think Alex just needs a bit of time, remember he had an injury in the pre season, so i dont think hes fully fit yet.
My problem with Zanetti is his not thinking quickly on the ball. He has to hold on to ball couple of times before he release it. And many passes, especially those to Neddy, were bad decisions, where Nedved was crunched by Pisano a lot of times. As bad as Almiron was last game, especially his dreadful workrate, I thought he still had a bit more bite on his passes Zanetti. Nonetheless, Zanetti has excellent positioning defensive wise, and as long as he has been in this game, he definetely knows a thing or two about defending. He is sure first teamer as far as I am concerned, but one of those players, who I think needs to be replaced next year, if we are to challenge Lo Scudetto. Zanetti is excellen rotational player though.

As for Legro, I dont think his covering is good enough. Chiellini got caught out of position many many times, but still with better CB patrolling around, I feel we you not have had so much trouble defending Foggia's diagonal run. Legro's biggest problem is that he tends to ball watch a bit too much, and gets sucked in to close to his partner, thus leaving acres of space to run into in the channels. And given Chiellini has tendency to go forward a lot; Foggia could be forgiven for thinking Juve played with 9 men most of the match.

All in all, I am not disappointed. Yes, performance was dreadful, there is no other way to put it, but Cagliari has hardly been the easiest pace to visit, ask Milan, and to get 3 points away from home is good way to start off our season. We may not win Lo Scudetto this year, but these 3 points are absolutely vital for our push for CL place given Fiorentina looked sharp in the opening games, Lazio will have to pick up their pace once their injury epidemic goes away.
about zanetti, he will never be a great passer. He is simply a decent one, and greats of the game made a living out of it. I agree though if we would want to challenge next year we will need to replace him, but for now he should be the first name in that contested CM position.

As ZAF said, Legro had a good start to the half and then just went down hill as the attacks poured in. I still question what is Boumsong's role in the team. And whether Ranieri does have some if any faith in his abilities and if he doesn't then why is he still here?

3 points were very important this week as the viola have milan and could drop points and lazio already dropped points, so the buffer won't harm.

Just a question, would you have liked Palladino or nocerino being brought in earlier? Just to give the team a bit more kick ?

I've never seen such an awful game like this one. That was such a bad game that not even a replay for this game I'd watch.

No system in playing no tactics, nothing, we were a bunch of people lost in an island.

Anyway, just like many of you here, i'm glad we grabbed 3points, although we were playing against 12 players and not 11 (thanks to the ref)....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Criscito had a terrible game, good thing Ranieri realized that.

Zebina was better than most of our players no matter what others say, the man plays with his heart and was giving it all, he was unlucky for such a ref.

Chiellini and Legro were not that good, but i couldnt ask more from Chiellini since he grabbed the 3points....

Zanetti was my man of the match, he did everything a midfielder can do. Bravo Zanetti.

Almiron, he probably wasn't in his mood/form knowing that his father is passing through some difficult time in Argentina but thats not a reason to give terrible passes and be invisible.

Pavel and Sali were also invisible in the match.

Del Piero was awful most of the match, taking the counter attacks slow, though he did couple of things class but all in all i didn't like his performance.

Trezeguet, i dont remmber anything he did in the match apart from the goal.

Anyway, Ranieri did a right thing putting Mauro in.

Anyway, i'm glad we're topping the table and hopefully we preforme better next time.

Forza Juve

Sheeeeeeeeeeeet, we're like the Brazil of old - just keep scoring and forget about defending. It's always great to win when you don't play well.

Cagliari were fantastic and deserved the win. In the first half, Cagliari certainly wanted to win more than we did. The introduction of Camoranesi changed everything. He set up all 3 goals and instilled his heart on this Juve.

Best of all was the Referee. He was spot on. The penalty on Legro was clear. The penalty on Zebina was a bit less clear, but very similar, and a Ref needs to be consistent. He showed great courage in over-ruling his errant decision on Chiellini - which was clearly not a penalty. Zebina deserved his second yellow and I felt the Ref should have shown him the second immediately after the first for throwing the ball away in protest and wasting time.

These boys scrap like a provincial side, and I like that. Don't forget that we are a newly-promoted side, and we are not the Juve of Lippi and Capello. Damn, this is fun!

fun ??

many of us probably needed their hearts checked after this fiasco of a game :p

The legro one wasnt really a penalty, the Cagliari player was somehow pushing legro this lead legro into pulling his shirt all the way with him, it should have been foul on against Legro.

I am really having a Hard Time deciding wether to go for Fiorentina winning today coz Milan are contenders for the Scudetto OR Milan winning coz Fiorentina are contenders for the 4th place.
After the first match I would have went for Fiorentina winning but after seeing our defence last night I think we dont have a chance of getting anywhere better than the 4th place.
So...............................
Fiorentina or Milan?

I think I'd prefer Milan to win. Our main goal is a top 4 finish and Fiorentina are more likely to threaten that than Milan if you get what I'm saying. Milan are always going to be up there, it's teams like Fiorentina, Palermo and Lazio that we have to look out for.

You are talking sh*t, my friend. Marchionni was part of the pre season, and I really think, that he is in the plans of Ranieri. Anybody knows when he will come back?
