What I don't understand most of all is the fact that Ranieri insists that he's satisfied with our performance. Though I like it when coaches defend their players, sometimes it's good to show some authority and give some needed criticism. Yesterday a lot of players were below par and Ranieri saying he's satisfied with everyone wil not get them to improve.
Yet the below par performance came right after Ranieri's announcement that he wants better performance and he wants more speed. We saw clueless and slow...go figure!

Quotet from juventus.com

Ranieri "I know that we still have to work hard. The last results haven't made me change my mind on this, just like when we played the friendlies this summer”.

he was not satisfied then and he is still not... criticism is not the only motivator in everyday life. Cheering someone who has been suffering could be more productive... in my opinion..

I think Chiellini should partner Andrade in the CB position because he currently seems most capable of putting strong and consistant displays. That should work find.

Also, Brazzo is just not good enough as a RM. His place is either on RB or the other solution is to put him on LB, which he played for his national team and was very convincing. Definitely better than Molinaro as he is more energetic, he can help Nedved and he is not naive in defense.

Grygera should play as a RB as he is not a hot head and very mistake prone as Zebina. However, he also needs to adapt quickly and covince us and Ranieri that he is the best choice there. I still am not impressed with him.

Also, Nocerino HAS to be in the first team. This is a MUST. ATM he is the most promising yougster in the team and he makes his presence. Like Tonykart said, every team needs a destroyer and Juve has a gem in their squad. He also has pretty good skills for his kind of position.

His partner atm should be Zanetti as he is the most solid performer right now and he is vital to this team. Almiron and especially Tiago should step their game up if they want a starting place. Just not good enough so far. I am not counting Almiron´s pre-season displays here. Official match is what counts.

Camoranesi? I don´t have anything special to say here, excpt that he brings MUCH MORE to this team than Tiago. Tiago lovers should accept this fact. Bench Camo in favour of Tiago? Better think twice. His yesterday´s performance speaks for itself.

Also, I do not understand the Iaquinta bashing as with his presnce Juventus have much more chances of hitting teams on counter attacks than with slow Del Piero. Del Piero has skills for sure and his brilliant touch but this team needs pace and Iaquinta has it. He may not be a brilliant finisher but that´s what we have Trezeguet for. This partnership COULD work no matter what the others think. Also, Palladino waits for his chance and he deserves it. He is very energetic and skillful, he can create a mess but he also has to works on his final productivity. If he succeeds we have another gem in our squad.
With the CB situation, i dont know what would be the solution. Maybe give mr Boumsong a run against Udinese, but i will wait and see what Ranieri is going to do as he seems to have no faith in him. I dont think that chiellini will be playing in CB though.

About Tiago, well i still have to see him play before i will judge him.I only saw one game in the pre season and it was the Milan game where he played well. Everyone was raving about Almiron but in two games now i have seen him being average and piss poor. So i will reserver my judgement a bit.

The nocerino-zanetti combination could work as they are our best midfielders in the team with nocerino providing a bit more imagination.
Best Ratings so far,U said it all.
I only have to disagree on one thing,The problem with Alex is not that he had an off day,his problem is that he is TOO SLOW,the second the ball touches his feet it is like we r watching a Slowmotion match,he needs to do somehting,He has all the qualities but he must speedup his play & stop dribbling that much!
Another thing I highly admired Ranieri's substitution of Criscito in the 2nd half, even if Legro costed us a penalty but Trust me if Criscito stayed in the game we would have been owned in the 2nd half,I dont think Ranieri will start with Criscito any time soon.
I dont think that alex should be the one provide the speed from the midfield. The runners from behind should provide that and i didn't see it last night. Alex will shine in those closed game where the opposition would sit a bit deep.

When we had good performance and not so good result, all of you agree that "the result is what matters"!!

Now when we got the result, oh no "the performance is what matters"... so much negative criticism here...

There were hundreds of maches whe we gave the control to other team, but we managed to end it with win...it is Juventus strength and character. They made us suffer but we were laughing at the end :) it was always like that :) I prepare myself for the Scudetto celebration in May this next spring. I can "see" myslef and my family at the streets of Torino :)

I came today here to celebrate with all of you and all a read is critics... at least today we could have celebrate an leave the critics and 'do-betters" for the days before the next match :)

Coz we dont have a decent CB to play beside Andrade & if Chiellini took the role,we will have a big problem in the left coz Molinaro is really poor defensivly.
Grygera played a lot as a CB with Ajax & he was always good
But we can play Chiellini as CB and put Sali on the left

It's all good, we're just jumping on Vinman's bandwagon.

I am not talking about providing speed for the team.
Last night everytime Alex touches the ball,he takes it & start dribbling in SLOWMOTION & thats really irritates me,Sometimes these dribbling could get us decisive freekicks but it really slows down the play & give a chance for the whole team to take their places in defence.
Ok I understand he is not a fast player but he must compensate this by playing one touch ball & dribbling only when it will be effective.
Anyway I am still convinced that Alex is a MUST in every game coz his qualities are always decisive for us to win But he must speed up his play(I am not taling about getting faster,I am talking about playin fast).

Zanetti-He was our best player on the field with his energy, and the way he covered the ground.I dont know why ppl are bagging his passes as he was more accurate than Almiron last night even spreading play a lot of times.I hope he keeps it up and doesn't get injured as we have a very consistent player in a sensitive position like the midfield.
My problem with Zanetti is his not thinking quickly on the ball. He has to hold on to ball couple of times before he release it. And many passes, especially those to Neddy, were bad decisions, where Nedved was crunched by Pisano a lot of times. As bad as Almiron was last game, especially his dreadful workrate, I thought he still had a bit more bite on his passes Zanetti. Nonetheless, Zanetti has excellent positioning defensive wise, and as long as he has been in this game, he definetely knows a thing or two about defending. He is sure first teamer as far as I am concerned, but one of those players, who I think needs to be replaced next year, if we are to challenge Lo Scudetto. Zanetti is excellen rotational player though.

As for Legro, I dont think his covering is good enough. Chiellini got caught out of position many many times, but still with better CB patrolling around, I feel we you not have had so much trouble defending Foggia's diagonal run. Legro's biggest problem is that he tends to ball watch a bit too much, and gets sucked in to close to his partner, thus leaving acres of space to run into in the channels. And given Chiellini has tendency to go forward a lot; Foggia could be forgiven for thinking Juve played with 9 men most of the match.

All in all, I am not disappointed. Yes, performance was dreadful, there is no other way to put it, but Cagliari has hardly been the easiest pace to visit, ask Milan, and to get 3 points away from home is good way to start off our season. We may not win Lo Scudetto this year, but these 3 points are absolutely vital for our push for CL place given Fiorentina looked sharp in the opening games, Lazio will have to pick up their pace once their injury epidemic goes away.

I am really having a Hard Time deciding wether to go for Fiorentina winning today coz Milan are contenders for the Scudetto OR Milan winning coz Fiorentina are contenders for the 4th place.
After the first match I would have went for Fiorentina winning but after seeing our defence last night I think we dont have a chance of getting anywhere better than the 4th place.

As far as I know he plays on the left side for his NT.
Not only for Bosnia.
In Bayern he also used to play as LB sometimes, especially in his last year. Against Milan he played as a LB/LM.
Brazzo is just like Zambrotta in this case. He can play equally good on both sides.

Sorry guys for the late report.. was busy yesterday.

As we all have see, the team looked lost, weak and slow. I won't go blaming our forwads alot because the midfield counts for the teams speed. Salihamidzic was not on form, so was Nedved. In addition, to Almiron who was totally not there. A player that was not positive nor negative. He simply was not there. I don't blame Sergio because upto my knowledge his father is going through some serious problems in Argentina. In Ranieri's shoes I wouldn't have started him, and even if I would he would have been subbed at half time. Zanetti was our best player on the field, yet his passes was less the parfect, but you really can't bash him for that since he was covering for 3 other players.

I agree with subbing Criscito. He wasn't focused and alot of dangerous chances for Cagliari. Legro came in, he looked sharp at the begining then his performance dropped. Still though, he was better than Criscito. Andrade was as well off form, while our flanks were alright. Although Zebina got a red card for his temper, he played a decent game for his abilities. Chiellini was one of our best players.

The game's turning point was Maoro Camoranesi. When he came in, we started to play with two midfielders instead of 1 (Zanetti). We started to create more chances and we managed to scroe three goals.

Del Piero was not at his best, but he was better than most of our players. He did delay the ball with him alot. And at the begining of the match I was upset, then I realised he as doing so because he lacked support from his team mates. He did miss a chace when the goal was empty and I beleive that he could have done a better job, but it is a chance he created from himself and shooting a ball that is coming to you vertically is not that easy. I beleive he could have controlled it and maybe passed it to Trezeguet.

Trezeguet, was abscet. BUT I don't care. He got zero chances and he scored 1 goal.

I will leave the best for last.. Gianluigi Buffon. The world greatest goalkeeper. Peter Chec, Amelia, nor Casillas can even get close to his performance. This is a keeper that was playing against 11 players all trying to score, he he did not have defence infront of him nor a proper midfield and the other way the oponant managed to score is from the spot. Let alone the fact that he was going to save one of them.

The ref: Shall I say terrible? Shall I say weak? Or shall I say a ref who hates Juve?
I won't use the last phrase. I'll go with a ref that was not upto the match level.
He announced to Penalties against Juve. Legro was an idiot to try to pull a stunt like this. This situation is similar to the penalty awarded to us against Livorno. Its funny how people called that a controversial penalty while this is 100% nen-negotiable and clear. The other PK was weak. Zebina was away from the ball and the other player was holding him as well. Too weak to be called, let alone called as a second PK in the game.
The third one was totally stupid. Chiellini clearly took the ball away without touching the player. I am in a different country watching though a small TV and from first sight thought it was outrageous. Its good that the linesman felt sorry for us and decided to be decent enough and call it off.
There was a clear incident were a Cagliari player touched the ball with his hand in the box which was supposed to be awarded as a PK in our favour. He controlled the ball with his chest then assisted it with his right arm.
The above plus many bad calls and wrong offsides, and noone wants to call this game being out of our favour? But thats just ok. Since its not a ref mistake that came in our favour only then the ref is questioned and we get demoted to Serie B.

Ratings:
Buffon: 1000/10
Zebina: 5 (I would have given him 6 if he hadn;t received the red card)
Andrade: 5
Criscito: 4.5
Chiellini: 7
Salihamidzic: 5.5
Almiron: 0
Zanetti: 6.5
nedved: 5.5
Del Piero: 6
Trezeguet: 6

Legro: 5
Camoranesi: 7.5
Nocerino: N/A

Ranieri: 6 could have replaced Almiron at half time and the team woulld have played much better throughout the second half. Never the less his other two subs were good.

I know its a negative report but here are the positive points:
1- We won although the ref was not good and we looked terrible
2- We won playing in Sardinia away from him
3- We won 3 games in one week, in which two were played away
4- We won, althuogh our players were totally out of form.
5- We are still leading the table
6- We scored 11 goals in three matches, in which two were played away.
7- Trezeguet is leading the top scorers sheet with 4 goals in two matches.

All in all we are going the in the right direction. :) Lets celebrate..

Sheeeeeeeeeeeet, we're like the Brazil of old - just keep scoring and forget about defending. It's always great to win when you don't play well.

Cagliari were fantastic and deserved the win. In the first half, Cagliari certainly wanted to win more than we did. The introduction of Camoranesi changed everything. He set up all 3 goals and instilled his heart on this Juve.

Best of all was the Referee. He was spot on. The penalty on Legro was clear. The penalty on Zebina was a bit less clear, but very similar, and a Ref needs to be consistent. He showed great courage in over-ruling his errant decision on Chiellini - which was clearly not a penalty. Zebina deserved his second yellow and I felt the Ref should have shown him the second immediately after the first for throwing the ball away in protest and wasting time.

These boys scrap like a provincial side, and I like that. Don't forget that we are a newly-promoted side, and we are not the Juve of Lippi and Capello. Damn, this is fun!
