Its hard enough to win a game when you are playing against 12 (the ref sucked badly today), but we really didnt help ourselves out today with this lousy performance

We had 4 good scoring chances through the entire 90 minutes, and very luckily, we scored on 3 of them

The biggest blame goes to the midfield today as they were outworked and out-hustled, didnt give the strikers much service, and left our weak defense hanging out to dry a number of times (sound familiar?? Take a look at the Parma game from wednesday night)

And speaking of defense, its very obvious that Criscito has a long way to go, Andrade isnt going to fill Cannavaro's shoes, and I cant talk about Legro or BUMsong without laughing

No ratings today, as I thought the whole team was pertty piss-poor, and RUINeri better come up with some solutions to these problems fast, because as everyone here keeps talking about a CL place, I think we may be looking at a more realistic 7th place finish if we keep on like this...the bigger teams will eat us alive :(
You're right but everything is not so black. Against bigger teams we will be more motivated and our opposite won't be that motivated. I think that we will have bigger problems with teams from the bottom of scale. I think that Lippi once said that winning a championship means that you shouldn't screw with a teams from bottom. The team who will make to many mistakes against this teams will be out of the race.
At the end of the year only points will count, not the beauty of the game. Last year Barca play much better and beautiful football then Real, but Real win Spanish league.

If all of you watching the game yesterday. You're all will absolutely agree that we're owned by Foggia.

Everytime he touch the ball is a threat for us. Other cagliari player has full faith in him. If Foggia get the ball , they think like [oh, it's time to attack]

2 years ago, i have been like his playing style, but at that time I feel we are absolutely have 0% chance to get him because he is AC Milan player.

I think Lazio is very lucky to get him as part of Oddo transfer.
if he play well for national team and shine , his price will be rocketed.

whoever watched the game today would agree with Vinman. It might be a little harsh but he's on the money. As bad as juve played, I enjoyed watching every minute of that game. Great game for anyone who turned in.

It was awful performance by our players, but we looked heavy footed, especially Almiron and Nedved, so it is hard to tell whether this game is a trend or just mere one-off day. Important thing is that we won the game and we got 3 points. We will be all right at the end of season, and if we keeping getting results by January, I think we get can get two enforcement, one midfield, and one defence, to push our title challenge.

As for the referee, he had a shocker. Matri dived; penalty. Another player dived; penalty. Well I can understand Zebina's one, that is givable, but Legro's one, my words, if he thinks Legro was the only one pushing then ref is blind. Matri was backing in, backing in, backing in - a clear foul which ref should have blown three times - and when Legro had enough of it and give little pull, bang, penalty. But at least he didnt just penalize us. After making the game 2-2, he felt so bad, that (1) he had to sent off totally innocent Del Grosso. Then he sees fanthom foul to award free-kick outside the box, which ultimately led to the winner.

And regarding players. Foggia is seriously good good player. He was quite easily the best player on the pitch, and I wonder if we can prise him away from Milan via Lazio's half. Foggia is def. some we should look at as Nedved's and Del Piero's replacement. And as bad as our defence has been, I think our two central partnership was equally worse. Zanetti couldnt pass anything more than 3 meters. Almiron didnt run a single bit in the second half. And we should make a rule; thou shall not play Legro. Foggia ate him for breakfast, lunch and dinner since he came on.
 Man, I am enjoying your posts.

What struck me about the 1st half was our inability to control the ball in possession. The passing was inaccurate, so too much time was spent in recovering lost time bringling the ball under control.

Secondly, the build-up play was ponderous most of the time, with the occassional spark of some really striking interplay that set up chances to shoot for goal. It was this slow, uncertain looking midfield movement, that lacked penetration that left me worried.

The 2nd half was an improvement in terms of attacking play, whilst the defence looked under threat from crisp, penetrative Cagliari passing and movement.

No question that we were lucky to come out of this with three points. Mainly due to the craft of Camoranesi and the ever reliable Buffon.

Of course, given the fact that it was Napoli 0 - 2 Cagliari last week and Napoli won 0 - 5 yesterday, the result has to be seen in a positive light. I just hope that Ranieri establishes a more coherent midfield and a more stable defensive system sooner rater than later in readiness for matchday 4, Roma vs Juventus due later this month.

Well if someone was asking for a worst game by the team than that is the one.I hope Ranieri is looking for solutions or just be livid with his players. The team looked tired and disinterested. Hardwork should be essential for the team and i didn't see anything even remote to that.

Another thing is our transition between defense and offense which was poor due to the lack of proper distribution from our main midfielder which was Almiron coupled with the poor linkage between the lines overall.

We were smashed all over the field but a positive was that we converted the only three chances we got.

The match got very tense and that ref was just horrible, but is Collina going to do anything about it ? Ofcourse not.

Ratings:

Gigi- Thank god for him, showed why he is the best in the world again. Ppl were criticizing for penalties, but he was unlucky not to save it and he was very angry about it.

Chiellini- Scored the goal and had some good interceptions in the game but overall he wasn't that good.Foggia ran rings around him from start to finish. Also he needs to improve his temper as that was just unacceptable, as we depend on him now and for the future. He needs to improve his offensive game as well imo.

Andrade-In a game that was full of mistakes, he didn't make any evident ones at least. He had to cover mimmo and legro after him and he did well i think. I dont know hy ppl are saying that he had a bad game as i thought he was very solid.

Cristicio- These games are the ones i feared when it was evident that he was going to be a starter. He was just smashed on every aspect of a defender's game and especially in the air and thats why he had to be subbed. This is a very good test of character for him as this game should just break his confidence, so we will see what happens next week.

Zebina-He was decent in the first half and nothing was going through his side, but the temper got the best out of him and thats just a shame as i didnt see that for a whole season last year.I hope he finds his head sometime soon, as what he did to the photographer was as bad it comes.

Almiron- Hes my biggest disappointment and i was calling for his head as early as the 40th minute.I dont know what was it but it took him 21 minutes to get a pass right( and he didn't try and great passes). And someone mentioned his work rate overall and thats my biggest issue with him from last night, as it was unacceptable from the highest degree. Also he is our primary midfield distributor and he failed to stamp his authority on the game, largely due to his low workrate.
I am sure/hope its just an off day as he was better than that against livorno even though he was not great.

Zanetti-He was our best player on the field with his energy, and the way he covered the ground.I dont know why ppl are bagging his passes as he was more accurate than Almiron last night even spreading play a lot of times.I hope he keeps it up and doesn't get injured as we have a very consistent player in a sensitive position like the midfield.

Brazzo-Hes much better at RB, and thats largely due to his dependency on energy rather than skill.Even though, i expected a much better game from him.He could've pushed more just to trouble the Calgiari defense, but he didn't have that link up with the other midfield players or the forwards. Anyway i hope his hamstring is not ripped.

Neddy-He had his usual energy but it wasn't directed right.Pisano got the best out him over the 90mins and i thought he could've done better. He didn't have the best of games and at a lot of times he looked really drained and you could see how the years have caught up with him

Alex- An absolute shocker from the captain last night. He held up play way too long, couldn't keep possession, failed to make use of balls he got. And that chance he missed would've destroyed calgiari's confidence but he had to do the hardwork then miss it. I know its just an off day as he looked really tired for some reason.

Trezi- Just like the other games he played, we always saw him trying more than last year.He always tried to play the one touch pass to one of the players next to him but the moves would always collapse. And he scored from the first real chance he got and thats why hes there.

Legro- He brought in to balance things in the air, and i thought he was fairly good in that sense with some good challenges here and there. Was very unlucky for the penalty to be given against him but he kept his alright after that. Nothing special but no major fuckups except for the phantom penalty ofcourse.

Camo- thank god hes back, as everyone saw why hes highly regarded around here. He made better runs, passes, crosses in around 30mins than what brazzo did for 60mins. But thats just a difference in quality and expected. Good to have him back .

Nocerino- NA

Ranieri- I dont know why the whole team played the way it did, but he going to have to ask the questions to the players as we were that bad last night. He needs to find solutions whether its fitness issues or tactical . The team looked very tired and dry.
I liked how he subbed Mimmo, as we needed the height in the back. But i don't till when was he going to delay bringing in camo and was somewhat lucky that brazzo got injured. Then he was faced with a couple of options with the game going up and down but he chose to sit on it which just drove me nuts. Almiron should've been subbed with nocerino just when we scored our 2nd or even our third. But he was waiting till the 90th minute.

anyway i had to go to work today with sore throat and a low voice but the win was very important and we got the 3 points which take us a long way. Also its a good eye opener .

He wasnt trouble maker until stu's attack

saying inter fan is bigger insult than asshole and idiot

tbh its true

I agree with most of your grades for the player, but have some corrections.

Criscito is (or was) under injury, and although was outplayed in some occasions but Fogia hurt us during the whole game, so it was not entirely his blame. We did not received a goal with him in squad and that is how you value defenders, is ti? He had some fine moves (maybe I am the only one who saw them :))

Camo - I cant see anything but greatest...all three goals assist by him .

Del Piero...if he did not rush to score the second, the defender would have clear it and I don't know how is that not worthy to you at all. The same as the goal of Trezege. He missed the opportunity, so what... you are to hard on him...as always expecting to much gives you unsatisfactory comments.

I agree totally on Almiron... He was invisible the whole game. Since there was Zanetti, Tiago could have come in easy, he showed some signs of good play against Parma.

How much can we grade the stability that Zanetti gives us at midfield... He is our number one midfielder :)

Great Chielini, I am so glad we did not sell him. I knew he would do great things for us and not just the goal. Although Fogia was killing our left side, he did all he can. I hope he will receive what he expected in contract agreement soon :)

I think Chiellini should partner Andrade in the CB position because he currently seems most capable of putting strong and consistant displays. That should work find.

Also, Brazzo is just not good enough as a RM. His place is either on RB or the other solution is to put him on LB, which he played for his national team and was very convincing. Definitely better than Molinaro as he is more energetic, he can help Nedved and he is not naive in defense.

Grygera should play as a RB as he is not a hot head and very mistake prone as Zebina. However, he also needs to adapt quickly and covince us and Ranieri that he is the best choice there. I still am not impressed with him.

Also, Nocerino HAS to be in the first team. This is a MUST. ATM he is the most promising yougster in the team and he makes his presence. Like Tonykart said, every team needs a destroyer and Juve has a gem in their squad. He also has pretty good skills for his kind of position.

His partner atm should be Zanetti as he is the most solid performer right now and he is vital to this team. Almiron and especially Tiago should step their game up if they want a starting place. Just not good enough so far. I am not counting Almiron´s pre-season displays here. Official match is what counts.

Camoranesi? I don´t have anything special to say here, excpt that he brings MUCH MORE to this team than Tiago. Tiago lovers should accept this fact. Bench Camo in favour of Tiago? Better think twice. His yesterday´s performance speaks for itself.

Also, I do not understand the Iaquinta bashing as with his presnce Juventus have much more chances of hitting teams on counter attacks than with slow Del Piero. Del Piero has skills for sure and his brilliant touch but this team needs pace and Iaquinta has it. He may not be a brilliant finisher but that´s what we have Trezeguet for. This partnership COULD work no matter what the others think. Also, Palladino waits for his chance and he deserves it. He is very energetic and skillful, he can create a mess but he also has to works on his final productivity. If he succeeds we have another gem in our squad.

Taking out a defender when he isn't injured after only 45 minutes is very strange . I missed the game , but I think Ranieri didn't have too much trust in him . He still is very young afterall and needs much more experience .
He took him out coz he missed his man marking in at least 4 occasions,I myself lost all the faith I had in Criscito in that game,he is very very poor & If Buffon wasnt the man in target,we could,ve conceeded 3 goals becoz of Criscito in the first half!
But then again Legro wasnt any better,we seriously need a fuckin defender, the only solution we have now is to bring chiellini as a Cb & put Molinaro as LB!

Best Ratings so far,U said it all.
I only have to disagree on one thing,The problem with Alex is not that he had an off day,his problem is that he is TOO SLOW,the second the ball touches his feet it is like we r watching a Slowmotion match,he needs to do somehting,He has all the qualities but he must speedup his play & stop dribbling that much!
Another thing I highly admired Ranieri's substitution of Criscito in the 2nd half, even if Legro costed us a penalty but Trust me if Criscito stayed in the game we would have been owned in the 2nd half,I dont think Ranieri will start with Criscito any time soon.

When is Grygera coming back??

When Grygera is back I think we should play the defence like this.
Salhy_Grygera_Andrade_Chiellini
Grygera played a lot as a CB with Ajax & he was pretty good.
As for the midfield,Playing Nocerino & Zanetti & putting both Tiago & Almiron on the bench is just stupid,I cant imagine Ranieri will ever think of doing smthing like this.

The Tinkerman still hasn´t found the right formula and starting 11. He better find it a.s.a.p. With the squad sorted out the best way possible I think we could aim high. If Lippi/Capello were here they would already know their team.

Also it wouldn´t hurt to invest the rest of 30 million Euros in the January?

Lippi used to tinker a lot also. Of course he had one favourite starting 11 but he used to experiment and his latest tinkering was in the World Cup. I know that Lippi does that based on the opponent, I hope Ranieri has a basis for his tinkering not just for the hell of it.

Juve per sempre, why would you play Grygera in the middle?

What I don't understand most of all is the fact that Ranieri insists that he's satisfied with our performance. Though I like it when coaches defend their players, sometimes it's good to show some authority and give some needed criticism. Yesterday a lot of players were below par and Ranieri saying he's satisfied with everyone wil not get them to improve.

This rating gets me a little bit down, but I forget it easily. I cannot be so "objective" when my team is considered. I feed my sole only with nice things about Juve. When someone say that Del Piero was slefish, this is very bad for me. That is Del Piero, is who he is, and if he is not "selfish" sometimes he would not be so great :) so try using some softer remarks, please :) Or that Crsicito was "smashed"... C'mon people... NO JUVENTINO IS SMASHED !!!
ok...trying to forget all that non-sence...

I need something "up-lifting"... Can anyone translate on English this text from La Stampa...

http://www.lastampa.it/sport/cmsSezioni/quijuve/200709articoli/10491girata.asp

I tried with auto-translator of Google, but it is not that good. Any other translators maybe...

It is about Buffon, and his gesture to the fans after the match. I have chills when remembering it. It was a message to a wider audience also, to all other competitors of the Scudetto. I posted this to the multimedia thread also if some1 has a pic or a video of it, please post it. It is pure inspiration !!
