boxing is a little different than football...

you can take a beating for the entire fight, and then land one punch that knocks your opponent out...not so in football
Remember WC game Italy - Australia 1:0? Or even better example, EC 2000 Italy - Belgium 2:0?

I disagree. Criscito has played two games. 3 halves to be precise. In two of them he was good. The 45 min he played a Cagliari was bad, but he is still our best choice to partner Andrade. Because its sure as hell isn't boumsong.
Agreed. Criscito is young and inexperienced but he has ability, something I'm not sure Legro and Boum have. It's our fault we didn't buy another centre back but that's in the past so we have to persevere with Criscito.

The question is - Is playing Criscito at CB worse than playing Molinaro @ LB and pushing Chiellini into CB coz thats the only other option imo. I'm certain Chiellini and Andrade has the making of a solid partnership. The question is does the risk of Molinaro at that left back position outweigh this

I don't see putting Molinaro as a risk. He hasn't been great so far but he is still adjusting to being at a big club. He looks like he will be an improvement on Balza, once he is used to the team.

Give Criscito time.

attacking wise: molinaro > chiellni

IMO, chiellni should partner andrade. Criscito isn't experienced enough to handle this yet. He's probably going to become Italy's best cb but that time hasn't come yet. Until grygera returns this should be our defense:

--sali---andrade--chiellni---molinaro---

yea i also think Chi should be tried at CB...he has the physical attributes atleast to do well there...and doesn't Cris also play LB?

Crisito can play LB but he isn't good going forward.

Playing him LB for a few games may be a good idea to take some pressure off him while he is struggling a bit.

yeah and the LB is hardly the most important position when going forward...Maldini played for a long time at LB and he was no attacking wonder...hope C-Ra is making notes :)

I agree...and what I agree with most from your match analysis was the PK given because of Legro wasnt a penalty at all. Legro still sucks, however :p

Did anyone see when Samuel and Cordoba slammed the Empoli player in the box in the 15th minute of their game, and the ref waved off penalty appeals ?? The player was down for a good 2 minutes afterwards

Talk about inconsistencies....
No do you have a video of it?

Why waste Chiellini's LB abilities and play him as a CB. The way Criscito moved around the field during friendlies and in his first match against Livorno as very promissing. He is brave and showed good man to man abilities. In addition, he was covering to some mistakes done by Andrade during friendlies. I won't be calling for Criscito's head already after 45 min of weak performance.

We cannot continue to move players aruond. We have to stick with one formation, atleast at the back and let them gel together.

Chiellini is one of the best LBs in Italy if not the best Italian LB in the Serie A. For both his and the teams sake he should continue to play where he produces his best football. Ofcourse he can play as a CB if needed in a number of matches but it shouldn't be the rule.

Its too early to ask for the head of any of our players (except boumsong, :D although he didn't play, still it is alright to ask for his head j/k), so lets give our players some faith. Besides, we cannot really complain alot after winning 3 matches in one week ;)

I think that putting Giorgio in the center would waste his talent and our sharpness on the left flank. Guy is having a great start on the left flank this season, smart foward runs, great crosses and even goals...

And for the central defenders.....they need time, playing time to grow up and make a good partnership...but somehow i don't belive in cristico. He seems to small for me,even for Ranieri....when we are cornering he spends his time on our half as a last man. Is this a trust in his areal ability?!

to add sth in current discussion I'll quote myself :)

I like Molinaro tbh. He's not as strong or solid as Chiellini but he adds a lot more in attack. Andrade-Chiellini could be a good central defensive partnership so depending on the situation we could play Molinaro at LB or Criscito at LB. If we're at home or facing weak opposition Molinaro would get the nod, if we're away or against a strong team Criscito could do a job there.

I don't think we should give up on Criscito at CB though. The potential is clearly there and Chiellini is a good left back.

Hi all,

I was just wondering about the referee. I mean he did truly a bad job on this match. Giving away 2 (well 3 actually) penalties. It seems he was really setting his mind on making Juve lose points.

If this is the coming trend for this season, with giving any doubtfull tackle against Juve and giving penalties in a heartbeat, then it will be a hard season for sure.
So my questions is, wether there were some official comments (in the media) given about this referee in this match?

I'd really be interested in how this referee was rated after this game.
Thanx.

yes.. the ref was bad in this match.. no doubt about it.. BUT, we can't deny that juve really played badly against cagliari... in the end, we can blame only ourself ownself for not killing off the game.. but den again.. in the past, juve did badly against cagliari in sant elia.. even our squad before calciopoli..

and welcome to the forum. :D

Yes, you are right ofcourse; We did play a horrible match.

But nevertheless it's a bit annoying to see that the ref points this fast to a penalty. Chielini's tackle was 100% on the ball, and yet the ref blew right away for the penaltly kick...

Then again, lets see it positive, and lets just think the ref made his disicions in an objective matter ;)
