There aren't that many teams that are willing to pay 6-7 million salaries to players in general, so I do think moving them is quite difficult. Letting Sandro go for free would be a loss on the books, I'm almost certain the management prefers to have him for one more year over making a loss on him. No way we would let Rabiot walk for free while he still has a contract here. Unless we get decent offers for them, they are going to stay here until their contracts run out.
Sandro, the guy we bought for 25m many years ago and also renewed contract since then, exactly how much of a loss that would be, 2m? We're paying the guy 6m / year and he's barely any different from Frabotta who was on 0.1m / year or smth like that, yet we're worried about a 2m loss on the books?

And what you say about Rabiot is my point exactly, we're holding onto him as if he's some sort of big asset that's worth 20 or 30m, at the same time knowing fully well that no one will pay him the salary he asks and give us a transfer fee, we're never going to get that 20m+ offer for Rabiot. And that somehow makes it smart to pay him 7m / year and suffer until his contract runs out instead of replacing him with free agents like Calhanoglu or Pjanic last summer or Brozovic or Kessie this summer or sign a younger player like Locatelli on 1/3 of the wages, which helps cover the transfer fee.

The over valuation our mgmt have for some of our players just drives me mad.

We shouldn’t be paying Rabiot or Sandro their ridiculous wages, but I’m sure some other random club is gonna leap at the chance to take them off our hands, free or not, and pay them those ridiculous wages instead. Or they’ll agree to just walk away from their big money contracts here and take less elsewhere. Seems very likely. :lol2:

Yeah you're right about Sandro, his book value can't be that high anymore. However even without a transfer fee, I struggle to see teams lining up to pay him 6 million a year.

3.25m euro loss if we let him go for free this summer. At 31 he might see the following summer as his last chance for a longer contract, so my guess is that he'd be willing to sacrifice a higher salary in Juve for a longer contract elsewhere.

Or he shall wait one more season getting 6 mil/year while sitting on the bench/half-assing it here or go on loan to Brazil or MLS like Dougie C with Juve paying most of his wage. Contract expires summer 2023 and he can go where he pleases then.

Or a third option, where he stays in the summer for the money, collects his 3 or so millions, and then in the winter of 2023 he leaves for free the way other immovable objects like Amauri, Iaquinta, Can and Ramsey did.

Any way we look at it, he’s not an easy player to move with his wages, his age, his awful decline… as we learned with all of the above. It’s not so simple as is being suggested to move these players.

We were dumb enough to give them the wages. There are probably other idiots out there, both are still internationals for France and Brazil. If we moved Ramsey, anything is possible.

We spent 18 months trying to move Ramsey. And barely eked out something in the very last days of this window. It’s not as easy as you have been making it out to be. Otherwise they’d be gone already.
