I expected first place based on the resources available to us, our wage bill is 50% bigger than Inters, our revenue is considerably bigger and we should be at least competing.

Then as I said the blame is shared between mgmt who didnt give Max the best squad with those resources (man were they slow in summer, Inter picked 2 key players on a bargain and we have a ton of players who couldve been sacrificed for them or someone like Pjanic), players like Woj who cost us tons of points and Max who continued to insist on ideas like "Rabiot can add 10 goals / season and should play as a winger".
The wage bill doesn’t mean much. We bought a ton of overpaid players who have zero chemistry.

Wage bill represents the potential team we could have. If you have a bunch of overpaid clowns, every summer you get an easy chance at an upgrade - loan Rabiot out and get in free agent Calhanoglu (someone who actually could add 10 goals from midfield unlike Rabiot) and even save some money. Loan Ramsey out and you can afford both loaning Pjanic and bringing in free agent Dzeko. Or if you have to cover part of Ramseys salary you can still bring in one of them. Or any other market options thatd easily improve the team.

Its not like at Atalanta were theyre maxed out with their 40m or 50m wage bill, we easily have the resources to be competitive, its just that all of mgmt, Allegri and players dropped the ball this summer and 1st half of season. I dont think that Allegri gets a free pass here, its his job too to communicate to the transfer directors what needs to be done. As Jan shows we easily can get shit done if our backs are against the wall.

Clearly it’s quite hard to get overpaid, expensive players like Ramsey, Rabiot, and Arthur off the books at anything resembling a reasonable deal for this club. We hardly managed to force Ramsey out at the last moment of this window, and that’s with a WC coming up and the fact he should have been wanting to find a club to play regular footie at.

Management screwed up in the summer by not dealing with the Ronaldo situation. And Allegri had a calamitous first 4 matches because of it. Of course it was his job to deal with that and he didn’t do a good job of it. But as I showed above. Since those 4 matches, in the past 20, we’re the second best performing team in Serie A. As well as topping our CL group. So he has been doing his job since then imo. He needs to continue that and get us solidly in the CL places for next year. This match is the start of that. No excuses for failing to get a result here.

Napoli plays Inter next round so one of them will lose points.

A win against Atalanta would not just secure our CL spot, but it could be a turning point of our season. Catching up with the top three will definitely put some pressure on the title race.

Of course it's quite hard, if you want an easy job, go make lattes and macchiatos in a coffee shop. They're not paid to do an easy job. I don't know what line of work you're in, but I imagine your boss or clients also do not care for excuses like "but it's quite hard". The fact that we got Ramsey out demonstrates that the quite hard can be done, it just takes hard work.

Fact is we're the financial powerhouse of the league so we should be competing for the title and the responsibility for our failure to do that since 2020 imo should be shared between current and previous mgmt, Allegri and the players. It's not just "Woj fucked up" or "Tici fucked up" or "Allegri fucked up", for me it's a combination of things.
