I reckon Domenico can progess one year more at Genoa, get Ivanovic in solid defender. The year after were set. BTW What happened about Manuel Da Costa?

Criscito is as good as Ivanovič? Thats not serios. You cant compare Serie B, were plays youngsters, veterans and mediocrity (of course, not previous year Juventus :)), with Russian Premjerleague, were some players earn millions every year. Criscito is very talanted, no doubt about that (why otherwise we would pay 7.5 euros for him :)), but he is still a youngster, while Ivanovič is a good defender now and in Juventus he can grow up to world class defender. When Criscito will be 23, he may be better than Ivanovič is know, but know Criscito can be only our 3rd CB, what actually is not bad for 20 years old guy. :D

If Juve Calls, I Will Respond - Ivanovic

Lokomotiv Moscow´s Branislav Ivanovic has said he would leap at the opportunity to join Juventus, after hearing that one of the Bianconeri´s observers was present at the friendly against Milan yesterday.

Mauro Sandreani came especially for him. The Juventus observer took a seat in the VIP area to watch yesterday´s Lokomotiv Moscow-Milan match in order to take a closer look at Branislav Ivanovic.

The 23-year-old Serbian full back probably did not disappoint him: he scored the 2-1 with a volley following a corner kick move, and showcased the qualities which have made him an interesting player: a powerful physique (1.88 cm tall and 84 kg), speed, good aerial ability, and an unusually high goalscoring average for a defender (he had also scored against Real Madrid).

Tactically he could still learn a few things from Italian football, but on the whole, his performance indicated that he´s worth keeping an eye on. Which is what Manchester United and Monaco have been doing lately.

Sitting a few meters away from the Milan entourage, Sandreani has taken note. Ivanovic was pleasantly surprised when he was told of the Juventus man´s presence in the stadium.

“I didn’t know that,” he said, “they told me something about Juventus following me, but I didn’t assume one of their people was watching me today. What can I say...everything depends on Lokomotiv, I have a contract until 2010.

“But for me there would be no problem, I’d leave for Turin, with pleasure. I don’t know a single player who wouldn’t want to be with Juve. I know everything about them: a history full of successes, what they have just gone through, their champions, from Buffon to Del Piero, from Nedved to Trezeguet.

“I know they have reinforced themselves to play a role as protagonists and I think they will be competitive for the Serie A title. They will not participate in the Champions League, but they will surely be in the next one: as of now they are already among the strongest teams in Europe.”

secco sell Chiellini to man. city for 13mil.€, then buy Ivanovič for 5mil.€

we have earned 8mil.€ and increase Meira bid to 15mil€

then we would have the best defence:
    Grygera---Andrade---Meira----Ivanovič
    (Zebina)-(boumsong)-(Criscito)--(Molinaro)

    that would be wonderful

only if Ivanovic was a LB. The guy is a RB that can play CB. He as the physique of a CB so he should concentrate on playing there. Saw a couple of games in the U-21 EURO and for me he was the best CB there. He got owned in the last game they played but that happens. He's been doing very well ever since.

Why should we compare him to Mirkovic, only because Ivanovic is also a Serb ? If you want to compare him with Serbs then do that with Mihajlovic, Vidic or Djukic who were all world class. Mirkovic was never a great player to begin with. He was part of the all-star Serbo-Monetenegrin team who had Savicevic, Mijatovic, Jugovic, Mihajlovic, Stojkovic and he looked good there. But at club level Mirkovic was never good, he was only hyped.

Vidic is another Serb who played in RUssia until his 24 birthday. Ivanovic is also a Serb who is 23 and plays in Russia. People in Russia who saw both of them say they are both very good but Ivanovic is even better than Vidic. If Manchester took the risk with Vidic i approve our team to take a risk with Ivanovic. If we can call it a risk, because Ivanovic is not 18, he is 23.
Good post. I don't understand why people here don't like taking risks on younger players. Some people are just too consumed with buying players to win the Scudetto in the coming season than searching for raw talents that will help our side for many years to come.

I haven't seen enough of Ivanovic to give a precise opinion on him, however he looked good from the couple matches I saw. Unless I'm mistaken, Ivanovic likes to play on the right side of defense, so an Ivanovic - Criscito/Chiellini partnership in the future looks damn good talent-wise.

I haven't seen anybody say they don't want Criscito, so I don't know what you're talking about. I love giving our youngsters a chance.

with the numerous formations ive read its heinze andrade, andrade meira andrade chiellini andrade this that etc... except criscito. no one is even giving the guy a chance or any consideration no more than a bench role and yet everyone seems keen on this ivanovic and to even see him partnering andrade.

Ivanovic, from what experts have been saying, has more potential than Criscito. The latter is also only 20 so he has a long career ahead of him. We'll certainly give him a chance and if he's good enough to we should start him... simple as that.

will we be giving him that chance? i think ranieri is too stubborn to even try

Luckily i have no problems with Serbian and i was able to find more info :smoke:

Ivanović holds many records in European under 21 championships. He played in 3 straight ec's and he was always the best or among the best defenders there. He played in two finals and one semifinal and is a record holder for number of matches played, he played in 13 matches and scored 2 goals. In the last ec he was in best 11.

He gets many praises from many coaches but the greatest compliment i found came from Guus Hiddink. Hiddinks greatest disapointment was when he found out that Ivanović isn't Russian and he can't play for Russia. According to Hiddink, Ivanović is now the best young defender in Europe and it's only a matter of time when he will be the best senior defender in Europe.

Many Russians, i assume Lokomotiv Moscow fans, think that 3.5 millions for Ivanović is a steal and they are ready to linch the board if they sell him for less than 15 millions :shifty:

I never watched him and i don't know if he is any good. On paper and with the praises he's getting, he looks very promising

Andy, this is very important season for us so we could rely on Criscito or Ivanović . I'm all for buying the Serb, keep him and Criscito in the team and give them a chance from time to time, like Lippi was doing with Tudor. In 2 years time, if they get a fair number of matches for Juve until then, both of them will be ready to play on regular bases.
But its too much to give them starting 11 position in this very important season for Juve.

i say we go after ivanovic and ditch meira, ivanovic is cheaper and is a promising player, while meira has proved his game but stuttgart want 15 million and he is 29 going on 30 so why not invest in youth, its gonna be sorry to see chiellini but if he does ivanovic would be a good buy.

    Hello everyone!

I m from Serbia, football lunatic and I can tell you few thgs about Ivanovic.
First of all, I am not Juventus fan, hope it's not gonna be such a problem. Consider me as a neutral consultant ...(Damn, I m starting to speak nebuloses)...
Anyway, if you get Bane Ivanovic for that 3.5 mils that is rumoured, it might be one of best buys this summer in Europe. Here in Serbia there are only 2 kind of football fans: Red Star fans and Partizan fans. No others. And yes, we like to hail playes that used to played for "our" side. But Ivanovic is different case- he belongs to neather side so you really should consider this as a objective comment.
It is very very hard, almost imposibole for a young player to get attention from foreign club, go outthere, make name and earn money as a young player if he doesn't play in 2 bigest clubs. If you play good and papers start talkin about you in Serbia, next step is Red Star or Partizan where you take some trophys, play in Europen cups and that get sold. Ivanovic didn't go trough step 2 but went straight to Russia (where is big money in game, believe me. I guarantee Russans could buy a lot of stars if these would like to go in "poor" Russia and play weak league in winter conditions most of the year. Maniche is example-he took great amount of money from Dinamo - which is not even in top 3 in Russia and than 4 months later begged and screamed for western Europe clubs to buy him and get him away from Russia). Who knows, if he went in "big 2" he would probably by now be in western Europe.
Ivanovic is great athlete, very strong, brave, great header, by my optinion very good technique for defender and most of all inteligent. Comparing him to Mirkovic is ridicules! He is Maradona him self for Mirkovic:rofl: Also, very influent player, being capitain whereever he played: OFK Belgarde, Locomotive and last 2 years U21 NT of Serbia. All that by year of 23!
He started as righ back but last years established himself as a central defender. (something like Puyol earlier in his career). CB is, by my optinion, one of the vital parts in team so "promotion" to CB from RB is something like a step forward. Anyway, he can play both positions but as a CB he impresses me!
There was agreement in Serbian NT between coach Javier Clemente and U21 coach that Ivanovic stay in U21 for few more months till past European Championship and now he will become regular member of NT. Ironical, he will be transformed back to old position of RB cause it is long time problem for our NT and there isn't good enough player for RB so Ivanovic will step up. Future is reserved for Vidic-Ivanovic tandem as CB, thats for sure though.
Don't know what else to say, if you wanna know more, ask.
Remember my words, you are not gona regret if you purchase this guy for cheap as 3.5 mils!

    Regards from Belgrade!
