Even Secco is showing him his support, the guy is going to turn this around as soon as they put him on the wing. We can all agree by now that he ain't a trequartista but more of a winger/left forward in a 4-3-3(Messi-style in Barca)

which people? :S

He is different player than Messi and he will never reach that level, Messi is the best and no one is even close.. And he doesn't have to be Messi to get our support..
 snoop

giovinco is always going to struggle with no real steal in the midfield to give him his freedom.

give him time thats all i say, cam was playing like shit a week ago now look these turn arounds happen and it will happen with giovinco
It doesn't matter at all what we say here. It's not like he can hear us.
Plus, the fans at Olimpico still love him, applaud him and show support.

But the boy is obviously frustrated. He says that he's not playing enough because he's Italian!!!
Marchisio, Buffon, Chiellini, Cannavaro, Camoranesi, Iaquinta, Del Piero...even fuckin Molinaro. They are all Italian.

He doesn't want to admit to himself that there is another reason why he isn't playing regularly and it looks like he thinks that no matter how well he plays, he won't be a starter, so why even bother playing well then.
That's a wrong attitude and it will hurt his career and hurt our team at times when Diego isn't playing.

Having 4 top strikers is also minimizing his chances to shine in a 4-3-2-1, because no coach will change tactics for Giovinco while having Iaq, DP, Trez and Amauri and when Giovinco isn't proving that he deserves a change of tactics.

It's a very complicated situation and everyone's aware of it. I think Giovinco is also aware of the reality, but for some reason he's not accepting it and is finding an alibi in being Italian.
I like Ferrara's comments about him, giving him messages to learn his mistakes and work harder to deserve that shirt. That "Italian" bullshit was a mistake, I don't like it when players go out and criticize their managers, hopefully he will learn that mistake and never repeat it!
i like this posts. give the kid a break and be patient with him and we will be the winners in the end.

Improve running off the ball is a must, IMO. He is really poor in this area. Every time I watch him play, which ever team he plays for, he always struggles to get the ball and be involved in the match (although he can make something happen most of the time he gets the ball, even though not many are direct threats or end products, but they are some kind of opportunities anyway).

I couldnt say it any better, but this has allways been his issue, watching him in Azzurrini for last 2 years, he gets the ball often enough, but too often you see him hovering in a grey area when it comes to off the ball movement (where he isnt exacly unavailable, but is bit inbetween), there is a opportunity to move to a better space to make space for himself, but somehow he is instead in half way between the ball holder and the opposition marker.

There was a clear example of this in todays game, Camo made a bad pass which was intercepted, but Gio's off the ball movement lacking was also the reason why it was intercepted, to the point the commentator pointed out how Gio should have made it easier for Camo by making himself more available, instead of force that tight pass. Unnecessarily iffy off the ball movement that makes teammates second guess or ask themselves if they should pass or not. Defenitely need to get better at it, because when he gets the ball when he is free, he clearly shows he is good at linking up and one-touch passes.

Spot on comments about ff the ball....

More than one time i saw people in the live thread (including myself) finding Gio lost or totally out of place....

He needs to be more aware of his positioning-

Giovinco hardly plays, how can people expect so much of him when this only the second game he's played so far and he was rarely used last season. He needs to get in form

Del Piero and Diego are coming back from injuries to reclaim the Seconda Punta and Trequartista role.

They are quite simply the better players than Gio is in their respective position at this point in time. I think its hard for Ferrara to bench a healthy DP or Diego to help Seba find his groove ...

Exactly. Gio might need more time, but at a team like Juventus, you will only get that many chances. It sounds a bit harsh, but these games Diego was unavailable, he needed to shine, but didn't. We've got a competitive squad again and Diego will play as soon as he's fit again, because we want results.

is this really his best position? I highly doubt it...way too many people to run into, and Seba isn't the sturdiest fellow you'll see on the pitch

:D

It's not, but we don't really have 'his' position in our current formation. I'd like to see him on the left in a 4-2-3-1. But yea.. we're not gonna bench 3 strikers.
