So far he has not been wasteful at all and scored good 3 goals. It is true he is clearly more effective when there is space and that makes me think that conte might use him in away games with big clubs were the opposition play a more attacking game (thus giving him space) or when we are already ahead and the opposition is trying to get back into the game by attacking us.

If he continues to fail when teams park the bus in front of goal he will be used as a game killer and against attacking football teams.

He was playing much better last season with Parma. Obviously, he had less pressure over there and the whole team was playing for him but there is no reason to think that he won't replicate his Parma form sooner or later, unless he is mentally weak and cannot cope with expectations.

Give him time.

no he didn't  he is already as expected to somewhat shine in games like that when he came as a sub in an already won game with plenty of open spaces just as buffon is expected to be our #1 keeper... that means little to nothing.

the midget is totally unimpressive against decent teams we have played so far.

3 fluke goals against teams that already lost, is not going to prove anything to his doubters.
Why did Udine lose? Because they were with 10 men! Why were they with 10 men, because they goalie got sent off for the foul on Giovinco which resulted on the penalty. One could see that he was the main reason they lost. If he had taken the penalty kick he would have had a hatrick!

irony is that same people who say he only scored easy goals, would bash him and call him a failure had he failed to convert those chances.

Gio hasn't been stellar, in fact he's had some pretty terrible performances, but some people are just going out of their way to find reasons to hate on him.

Yes, but he's not at Parma anymore and there are a lot of reasons to think that he won't replicate his Parma form. It's not the first time he's playing for Juve.

Touche, but it does look we're opting for Quags/Matri + Mirko and Gio as a sub.
Over the full season him and Mirko will be starters, Quagmire and Mitra will play when on form or when certain it's games that suits them, but there is a reason Conte started Gio off the bat from preseason til last games. Dont think it will change.

an outside opinion, giovinco has done nothing to stake his claim to start or start on the bench. vucinic - quag start with matri on the bench and gio wrestling bendtner to be on the bench. its gona get worse if marotta finally manages to get that WC striker in jan.

he needs to drop that tongue celebration though, that is pretty wannabe

for real? 12 player bench? that's just gonna leave a lot of players disappointed every week

ah well he can wrestle bendtner to come off the bench and judging by bendtner's recent tweet pic we know how that's gonna end :D

How odd, you think a player who has featured in every game but one this season will rot on the bench? (starts plus two subbed in) You seem to be on top all things Juve I see :p

Conte will start him a lot. It will take many horrible matches for Giovinco to lose his spot. It's a similar situation for now with Vucinic's one from last year, when despite his terrible form Conte was consistent in playing him, because he knew what can Mirko offer and that nobody else in the team can offer the same. If Conte plays Giovinco so much now, it's for a reason. And after the gamble with Mirko was won last year, Conte will do it again with Giovinco.

Personally, though, I have very little faith in the Vucinic-Giovinco combo, despite the tremendous talent they posses individually. None of them is doing the movements one would expect from a striker.

Yeah thats the main and only problem, they are both more gifted players then the other two, but non of them move like a striker does so its an awkward pairing.

For sure, its actually baffling he is played so centralized as the higher up striker who receives the ball with giants on his back at all times. Our only two shots vs Viola was him receiving the ball in the channels and faced towards goal to be able to run with ze ball. Needs to be utilized in such space more otherwise its pointless.

Yes. You could see Vucinic thriving against Roma, with Matri attacking spaces and moving away from the ball.

Vucinic could function as a false number 9, he has done it before. Obviously we would lack that killer instinct but it would work far better. I also think, at least when Pirlo is marked out of the game, Gio dropping deeper would give us something else.

Vucinic is not good enough defensive to be a false 9. He's too lazy.

Marchisio though would fit it perfectly.

What is good to see though, is the versatility of our strikers. Quag v Matri v Gio all offer something very different, characteristics which will come handy when we face opponents wi their own diverse strengths and weaknesses. Gio for now should not be e one playing with his back to goal, it should be Quag or Matri, first and foremost because of their physicality. Gio still will be detrimental when used correctly, but you guys need to stop being so fickle about him. He is here one, just support him till the end of the season and then take a call no matter how good or how bad you see him play every time he does.
