umm they sold ZIDANE for a world record sum then they bought Buffon Nedved and Thuram

and bascially what u r trying to say is that only clubs that are super-rich, that are backed by national governments or foreign billionaires who dunno jack about football are prestigious...Nice!!! :disagree: :disagree:
prestigous in terms of money .. YES .. and by definition the word "prestige " , the ability to spends loads of cash without worrying about the consequences .
The bottom line is that juve was more prestigous before the calciooli and thats because of " money " , just look at our squad last year . We had ibra , vieira , emerson , zambrotta , cannavaro . That IS prestige , but we aren't prestigous anymore , we are buying lower class players for cheaper money . I don't blame juve , thats the only way to go after a season in serie B .

For example chelsea are a more prestigous club in terms of " money " but we obviously have the more prestigous history . So deciding who the more prestigous club is at the moment is entirely up to you .

the super-rich clubs that are backed by governments and billionaires are prestigous , yes , I don't see what's so strange about that

And there's a big difference between splashing the cash for established Serie A stars such as Nedved, Buffon and Thuram and taking risks on young and unproven foreign stars.
yes the difference is my point exactly , prestigous clubs can afford to splash the cash on young and unproven talent , while less prestigous clubs can't , in this case we are the less prestigous club .

Thats all im trying to say

Prestige (sociology)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prestige is a word commonly used to describe reputation or esteem, though it has three somewhat related meanings that, to some degree, may be contradictory. Which meaning applies depends on the historical context and the person using the word.

Originally, prestige referred to pomposity, which was taken as a sign of poor taste. In this regard, the word had strictly negative connotations. Indeed, the root of the word "prestige" comes from the Latin præstigum, meaning a delusion or a trick. In some Romance languages "prestige" retains this original meaning.

Later, prestige developed a positive meaning: it describes high esteem and a solid reputation. Institutions, awards, and events could be described as "prestigious"; in this case, it would be favorable to be associated with them. Often, "prestige" also carries an air of association with the upper class. This is the use of the word most common today, familiar to all social classes within English-speaking societies.

no chelsea aren't more prestigous than juventus . i didn't say that , i said it depends on how you look at prestige . Like i said , juve's history , players , fan base , trophies obviously make them 10 times more prestigous than chelsea .

Forgive me for not using the word in wikepedia form , i didnt mean it in that way i meant it in the form of luxury .

then why did it take Real 5 years to win the La Liga title...in that period of time they bought players worth hundred of millions of dollars yet they didn't win a single trophy of substance...and why didnt Chelsea complete the treble or even the double this year even after making some massive signings in the transfer period

because real were only missing a good coach to descipline the players , the players controlled the team in the last 3-4 years while the coach had no control .
when capello came he actually used these hundreds of millions of dollars worth of players to his advantage . He controlled the team discplined them and that's why they won la liga .

I really don't understand why people think chelsea did badly this season .
They won the fa and carling cup , finished 2nd in the premiership to an excellent man u team and went out in the semi final of the champions league in extra time .

the sad fact is money is now the prime cause if success in world football . You may or may not like it but it's true . all the winners of the three major league in europe are considered to be the wealthiest clubs in europe , and its no coincidence .

no it doesn't but sadly and unfortunately , it does bring world class players and makes you win championships.
We are not going to win the champion, but to reach the level of Milan and Inter that's why we make good transfers this year. But if we win the championship it would be great achievement.

to match up the levels of milan and inter , we obviously have to spend some more money , success doesn't come at a cheap .

Dont underestimate Roma, they have very strong team. They signed Giuly,Esposito,Juan,Barruso,Andreolli and now they are going after Cicinho (90% they will buy him) and they also want Del Horno. If they sign any of them it will be hard to beat them.

We don't spend more money because Juve's policy is to spend less and to gain more. And as you see our transfers respond only only for the Italian compatitions this year, and i don't think that we can make anything better with these players in European competitions for the next year.

Sure Roma finished second this year and they made good transfers but also have CL games in their feet that we don't have.
