Did I ever say that? I never though it's the US plan to destroy Ukraine.

I'm just talking about funds not being a gift, firstly, and secondly, that with a devastated country/gdp, it will be a horrible debt to pay off in the end. I'm not even meddling to say it ain't worth it, that's up to Ukrainians to decide.

It's only my opinion to think that Russia will keep both Donbas and Crimea. Do you think Ukraine will have it back? If so, then that's where we disagree. That's why I think continuation of this war will just make things worse for Ukraine.
Ask the Ukrainians what they think about the US. What you or other US haters think is irrelevant in this instance.

I mean, there are reports China may start supplying Russia with tech/drones and ammunition. If that happens, we essentially have ww3 by proxy.
I doubt it, precisely because of that reason. China have been remarkably cautious so far.

Your grand plan is basically to roll over and let things happen?

"Guys, I wonder if you realize that Ukraine may survive but will have debt!!!"

Is probably the weirdest take I've heard concerning this war in awhile.

"Yeah, the Ukrainian's might survive this was but it will be hard living and they've have debt" compared to dying and genocide under a Russian boot seems like an easy choice.

I don't think that was his take though.

He was saying they wouldn't win the war anyway and they'd only suffer more by prolonging it.

That's a good point. I don't know enough about global politics to assess this. But I do notice that China have not been very vocal with regards to any support of Russia, even if they are sort of their only economic ally at the moment.

But how is that the takeaway?

If they prolong the fight they're literally improving their negotiating power in any peacetalks. As opposed to folding or begging for peace and giving up more Ukrainian land. And this war was always going to result in Ukrainians having INSANELY hard lives once it "ends."

They're fighting for their very survival so it was always debt vs. survival. To think the opposite completely ignores Putin and Russian's history in this matter. They lose and it's a puppet government and executions in the streets for thousands if not tens of thousands Ukrainians. Debt vs Survival

I don't agree with the idea that it's better to give up.

I just said I think that's what he meant.

Right, I understood where you were coming from, looking to frame his statement in a clearer light and I appreciate that.

I'm saying that even giving him that benefits it doesn't make sense. And to frame the discussion on "oh no debt to US" seems like one of the standard Anti-US tropes we hear all the time. The entire eastern Europe hates Russia for a reason. And all of them without fail would take massive debt to being under Russian rule or losing parts of their country and independence. I don't see how that's debatable OR how framing that as "beware of US loans" is anything more than a scare tactic with little relevent framing on the conversation as a whole.

Yes, we know at the end of this, Ukraine will have a VERY difficult life. Yes, we know debt is hard to climb out of for countries. We know all this.

If I was Ukrainian I'd fight to the death to avoid falling under Russian rule. I can think of few worse things.

It isnt unless you are a Russian troll that keeps predicting demise of entire west "because the sanctions dont affect Russia" and everyone should just stand by and watch Ukrainians getting slaughtered. Nevermind that hundreds of thousands of Russians left the country, that they lost the major trading partner in EU, that they are becoming vassal of China. Even anti US/EU brigade has to wonder why are countries of eastern block flocking to join EU and NATO as to get as far away as possible from Russians and their sphere of influence.

They'll say that the US is paying candidates, rigging elections, or some other such bullshit.

I have friends who claim Ukraine should have just rolled over and their argument is that at least they would have peace. Getting tired of explaining to these retards that a terrible end is better than endless terror (under Russian slavers).
