My input:

NT is different. I symphasise with a few countrys which I half heartedly support by default, motivated by like of one or two players in the squad (ie Czech republic) when Italy or Ireland or Germany is knocked out. Its not well known but my mother is Italian and my father British. Since I despise most of the british players, I support Italy. Ireland only comes because I have family ties with the country and I love it as a whole, but it still isnt as strong as Italy is. Its Italy first, Ireland second.

Then comes Germany, I follow the teams happenings and goings ons and root for them against teams im neutral with, but the heirarchy is Italy-Ireland-Germany. My relationship with Germany is one of like, but not great joy when they win. More like a quick yay and thats that.

it's because people are ignorant bastards, and not the religion is teaching to do that
my point exactly, it looks great on paper. Hence, the islamic world which doesn't have a problem with this and other things (not saying we have no problems :D ) we have a sense of unity, which is kinda beyond our "religious belief".

I think ive forgottern, but was it you who told me something special about Mount Zion?
I told you something how reggae artists use the analogy of Babylon. But weren't you the one who has school work? :p

Sorry Altair, but what you witnessed here is why I avoid these critical discussions almost all the time. A reason why Andy does not know my religion is because I don't participate in such discussions

Erm, so by some logic here the World Cup should only be comprised of christians vs. muslims, hindus vs. buddhists, and atheists vs. agnostics...what a football tournament that would be.
If football is a great way for nations to get out their aggressions without killing each other, and given that a huge percentage of the world's bloody conflicts have religion as a thread, maybe this isn't such a crazy idea afterall.

didnt mean to offend you but he was portraying a picture that was simply wrong. And the christian faith has come to terms with acts such as the inquisition. So to say that Christians view jews and muslims as brothers is a travesty to say the least.

It would only promote more bad blood swag. What better way then to get poor sportsman fans to be against a certain religion more then when they beat his religion in a game of football?

In christianity, the christianity that I believe in, my bretheren are black, white, catholic, muslim, hindu, protestant, and everything in between.
OK guys I think this is getting out of hand, and I am being misunderstood....so lemme set the record straight!

1- One thing that most of you guys don't understand is that Muslim countries were divided up in the beginning of the 20th century. Throughout history we were more or less one big nation.

2-@ANDY, there is a general feeling of brotherhood of humanity I consider you as a brother and if you were any other non-muslim is harmed I would be grieved....It is not like If I see a christian or a Jew deeply wounded I wouldnt help him or take to the hospital just cuz he is not Muslim...In fact that is non Islamic...the prophet's neighbour was a jew and he used to visit him when he was sick, even though this neighbour harmed the prophet on different occasions. The prophets also once saw a funeral, so he stood up and went to walk with them and pay respect, his friends told him its a jew's funeral he replied "isnt it a human soul".... BUT there is also a more intimate feeling of brotherhood in Islam....and yes includes all races white, black, indian...etc....and in Islam there is no race superior over the other....so please Andy you are above this, and I bet you heard this millions of times from me or from other people...."ISLAM IS NOT A RACIAL RELIGION"

3-This is not the case only in sports, it is the case in perhaps all fields....We have an Arab Leauge and an Islamic league (which are sadly negligible in the politic world).

4- Also @ Andy: Read a couple of posts back, you will see I said that I would root for a non-muslim lebaneese athelate....the feeling is intermixed and interwined.

5-When talking about sports, sadly the successes from any one Muslim or Arab country could never be compared with one of the major sporting countries (USA, Germany, France....etc). So a feeling of rooting for the underdog is there also.

Anyways you guys successfully turned me into defensive mode....I would like to put this issue to rest thank you.

Now we're on a real meaty topic, here! :D

Gotta start with the Brazilians, of course. While there's a lot of indiginous religion, they're about as Catholic as they come: Ronaldinho in AMF.

And Buffon in goal of course...

But when you think about it, how is that all that different than bad national blood? Is one any better than the other?
