Bayern Munich expect to complete the signing of Marseille star Franck Ribery on Thursday.

The clubs are believed to have agreed a €25million (£17million) deal for the France international, which would make Ribery the most expensive player in Bayern's history.

"We just have a few details to settle, but the deal should be made on Wednesday," Marseille chairman Pape Diouf told L'Equipe.

"Ribery will leave for Munich on Thursday to have his medical and sign the contract. Bayern have always acted in a perfectly fair way since they declared their interest.

"When the player agreed to go to Bayern and our financial conditions were accepted, it was out of the question to imagine him going to any other club."

Ribery is expected to agree a four-year deal.

Diouf also confirmed that the money earned from the deal should allow Marseille to complete a deal for France striker Djibril Cisse.

"At the weekend or early next week, we will negotiate with Liverpool to try to keep Djibril Cisse."

Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly recently hinted to a French radio station that he was eager to replace Ribery at Marseille, but Diouf claims nothing has yet been agreed.

"It is a just a vague appeal from the Barcelona player so far. We have to see what the conditions of the deal would be.

"But I have to be clear: we won't overpay anyone."

I wished Ribery would have joined us. Anyways, a very effective player will be added to Bayern's roster and good luck to him. As for the transfer fee, £17million is a proper one.
