Palla's going to Genoa
Thursday 12 June, 2008

Talented hitman Raffaele Palladino could be just hours away from leaving Juventus for Genoa.

Despite his undoubted ability, Palladino had to accept the role of benchwarmer for much of last season and grew frustrated with a lack of first-team football.

Having lost his place in the Azzurri side ahead of Euro 2008, Palla now seems ready to quit Turin for Genoa.

“Palladino will be a Genoa player and it will all be done in a few hours,” Genoa President Enrico Preziosi said on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He has cost us a fortune, but we have such belief in this player.”

Genoa are also looking at Napoli defender Maurizio Domizzi, as they look to strengthen for a UEFA Cup push.

“Domizzi is another player we are very interested in and we are hoping to bring him here soon,” Preziosi revealed.

“Our objective for next season is to improve and to consolidate the success of the past year.”

One man who has been tipped for a Marassi exit is French stopper Abdoulay Konko, who is in Inter’s sights, but Preziosi has refuted such talk.

“I can totally rule out Konko joining Inter,” he barked. “I really didn’t like the Nerazzurri’s approach. He would only leave for a huge sum.”

We Have Signed Palladino – Genoa

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has announced that the club will sign Juventus’ Raffaele Palladino, and the deal is expected to be officially completed within a few hours.

Palladino is one of Italy’s most talented young players, however he has found himself surplus to requirements in Turin following a frustrating 2007/08 season where he made just 14 Serie A starts, and often either sat on the bench, or was played in an unfavoured wide midfield position.

Yesterday the Corriere della Sera claimed that Genoa were in advanced negotiations for Palladino, and were close to agreeing a co-ownership deal worth around €5.5m.

Preziosi has now confirmed that the 24-year-old will be joining the Rossoblu, although it is not certain at this stage whether it will be a permanent of co-ownership deal.

“He has cost us a fortune but we believe a lot in the player,” Preziosi told ‘Radio Goal’ on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Maurizio Domizzi [of Napoli] is another player who interests us very much, and we hope to be able to soon bring him to Genoa.

“Our goal for next year is to improve and consolidate.”

Genoa had an outstanding first season back in Serie A following 12 years spent in the wilderness, finishing in 10th place in the standings.

he will be the next henry and we will regret not keeping him here
Im not sad that we didnt keep Henry, his style just wasnt suited to Italian football IMO. Henry, a player who only succeeded in EPL, look what happened to him in Spain and on International stage, very disappointing! Says alot about him.. anyway another time, another place. Palladino deserves to play, i think he will shine at Genoa, but i really dont see him succeeding at Juve in the future.
