Get real. I gather you would prefer if Ranieri benched Palladino 24/7? Becuase thats what would happen if he was seen only as a striker. He has zero chance to get playing time with Trez, dp and Iaquinta being so superior to him.

In wing we have zero depth, and him in a wing position cutting in isnt that different from his supporting freeroaming forward position (he played as winforward in azzurrini). He plays there because we havent other options, but also he doesnt have other positions as options for him.

Not to mention, even if he he has played a little as striker/forward, whenever he has played there except his one Reggina goal, he has totally sucked. In Empoli in coppa, and this latest Reggina game, and all the times he was subbed in as a forward. Totally without any impact. NOWHERE to be seen for a single minute even in his "usual" position.

You earn your position. And even if he is a decent talent, he is lucky he is played out of position, because he woulndt see the light of day if he was considered only for striker/forward.

So you complain because he sucked as a striker, when he was worse as a winger? Ironing.

edit: Ill also like to add that there could be numerous times when he could have been used as a forward, but Ranieri hasn't used a more imaginative formation.

No, I am saying even if part of the issue is he played out of position, the main issue is this guy isnt not good enough on the whole based on his performances. You cant blame it entirely on out of position or such (especially because wing position is not that alien to him), its not he is Mutu case. Because Palladino has been bad in the few times he has played as striker, and has no past of proving himself as a striker (full season in Livorno as one, doing jack shit).

But mainly also he is played out of position for necessity, for us as a team because we have no options there. But its necessary for Palladino too, because he hasnt used as winger, he wouldnt play at all. He he CANNOT compete with DP, Iaquinta and Trez. He would be an eternal benchwarmer with those ahead of him. They are simply much superior, simply put.

PALLADINO EYES VIOLA SCALP

Juventus forward Raffaele Palladino wants to celebrate his new contract with a victory against fellow Champions League candidates Fiorentina on Sunday.

Juve are third in Serie A, four points clear of their fourth-placed visitors, but have lost to Reggina and drawn with Torino in their last two outings.

On a personal note, Palladino hopes to round off the week on another high having renewed his contract with the Turin giants this week.

He told the club's official website: "I am delighted to renew my contract. For almost six years, I have been under contract with one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and I am very proud to wear this shirt.

"Now I must show I deserve the faith shown in me and I will give my all to become an important future player.

"This match comes at the right moment for us. Even if we have to do without some key players we want to win."

In defence for the Bianconeri, Giorgio Chiellini is suspended so Guglielmo Stendardo looks set to step in and partner Nicola Legrottaglie in the centre.

Key midfielder Cristiano Zanetti should return to the centre of the park, having had a two-match ban halved on appeal. He will likely replace the suspended Pavel Nedved.

In attack, Claudio Ranieri's side welcome back key striker David Trezeguet from the flu so Vincenzo Iaquinta could drop to the bench.

Jorge Andrade and Marco Marchionni remain sidelined with long term injuries.

Fiorentina have not beaten their fierce rivals since a 1-0 home victory back in December 1998 although the last two meetings between the two sides have ended in stalemate.

Midfielder Marco Donadel told the club's official website, www.acffiorentina.it: "We have Juventus on the horizon. It is a match that means a lot to us as it does for the whole city.

"We have always played well against the top sides although some incidents have condemned us. Juve are more experienced than us but on the pitch I believe we are equal. We will look to be much more cynical.

"We need to be really focused on the fight for fourth place. It is important to still be in the running with four or five games left to play until the end of the season then it will be all to play for."

For the Gigliati, Fabio Liverani and Franco Semioli join Adrian Mutu in the treatment room, so Riccardo Montolivo and Mario Santana will return to the midfield and attack respectively.

Martin Jorgensen could replace Pablo Daniel Osvaldo up front, whilst Per Kroldrup could come in for Dario Dainelli and partner Alessandro Gamberini in defence.

Palladino is a good player but it's that he is played out of position all of the time and seem inconsistent because of it. I'm glad he is staying with us.
:agree:

the guy has been played on the right of midfield half of the time. He is a forward not a right mid.

if he is going to play in mid it has to be on the left with him cutting in.

Palla is just trying to get a game, you can't blame him for his performances when he is well out of position.

Nice move from our board(this sentence is not used to these forums:D).
Palladino has shown that he has some potential, his wages are not high and he is a true Juventino.
The only bad thing is that he is not used well from Ranieri.
IMO if he was playing as a support striker he would deliver much more

I am really pissed off at Ranieri and now Donadoni taking this beautiful striker out of position on the wings, he is so inconsistent there and should be given th chance inside whenever the chance comes.
It was though a smart move he signed on with Juve, he will get his chance ISA, hopefully

This perfectly sums up Palladino for me.
