Since ive been watching football which is only from like around 1996 (and yes I will be extremely biased and I don't care about how they would of played as a team)
Being 27 I decided to only use players I've actually seen play, so there is no Pele's or anyone that played/plays in the disgusting footballing nation that is England. My team is probably not the most balanced but if all the selected players played at there best then you wouldn't need too many defensive or wide players.
I often ask myself is it nostalgia that makes us so biased, or did the 90s really have more ingenuity.

Possibly, thing with 90's generation is that too many and I mean TOO many players were talented, you'd watch Valencia and enjoy, you'd watch Parma Fiorentina Lazio and enjoy you'd watch many teams that are average nowadays but were entertaining to watch back then (even if they were not superior or title contenders) because of so many talented players that popped out almost at the same time/generation.
