Back to dybala, if he continues to miss an adequate number of games for the remaining season, what does this mean for him and the offers he may receive if this contract extension no longer exists?

Being free will obviously give him leverage to request a higher salary but will teams like inter be willing to pay him 10m per season if he proves he can't stay healthy? In addition, is juve trying to call his bluff thinking that other teams won't match it based on him missing so much football on a consistent basis?

It's not the norm to retract an offer now...so what has happened behind the scenes? What does the club know now that they didn't 3 months ago?

Dybala was world class from 2015-16 to first half of 2017-18 season. 100%. He was also close to it in 2019-20 with Sarri. And he’s been it so far this season with us. Has been our best player so far this season when fit. I think Chiesa > Dybala too, but Chiesa was both unfit and out of form for much of the first half of this season before his ACL year. Dybala meanwhile has had a great year thus far.

Yeah, read the posts and you’ll understand the context. Salah is better of course that’s why he is asking for almost double the salary.
I sure hope that Chiesa>Dybala I support Juve not the players. Chiesa was better last season for sure, and we can judge by the end of their careers with us.

This season he's fit around 70% of the time. Last season sucked of course but all the seasons before he was fit for 30+ league games, so hopefully last season was the exception and he's getting back to his normal fitness levels, otherwise we are screwed this season.

The problem is letting him go for free. If he were paid 10M for 5 years that is surely cheaper than losing a 70 - 90M player for free.
We lose him on a bosman, shed his wages and only have another few million back in the budget to show for it. And we lose another leader. He's filled the leadership void this season. He's not making prima donna, half-arsed efforts for weeks at a time.
I just don't see how letting him go won't end up in his being replaced by Scamacca or Martial. It'll mark another watershed moment in the club's regression to something like what Milan were a few seasons ago. Really, we got lucky in 2010/11. Marotta bought a bunch of revelations for peanuts. That kind of miracle revival is very unlikely to happen again. We need to spend on players who show their worth and, come hell or high water, get rid of those leaches infesting the club at the first opportunity.

100m over 5 years is a lot. But is the difference between the 10m he wants and what we are offering all that much over a 5 year period? What does that equate to over 5 years at gross? 15 to 20m maybe???

Exactly what I thought as well, so his market value is not that high.

I'm 50/50 on this. I wouldn't be jubilant if he renews, but I wouldn't shed many tears if he left either. It's difficult.

Ultimately I believe juve aren't benefitting out of any outcome. He's a brilliant player but he's injured half the time. Either we keep him on, take the risk and pay him more, or lose a quality player for free.

He is a tactical problem for a team that spent bullshit money on wingers (Ronaldo,Bernardeschi,Chiesa,Kulusevski,Douglas Costa and Cuadrado) in recent years.
In fact we tried to sell him swapping him for Lukaku and the only thing that stopped the deal was Dybala ex-agent asking 40m to new teams to use his img rights.

So leaving everything off unless we switch back to 2man attack (3-5-2 , 4-3-1-2 you name it) where he shined (Mandzukic and then Higuain partnership) or he is better off somewherelse, giving we just spent over 100m on 2 wingers like Chiesa and Kulu (don't mind the fact that they play in the same position duh).

But yeah the only profitable way for Juve would be him renewing for his current wages and SELL IT. not trying and failing! but renew and sell.
Even if it's 35-40m.
That's the only way.
