I don't really understand getting attached to a player who was clearly going to leave, on a year-by-year basis. I thought next year but then for whatever reason he wanted his star to shine brighter earlier. That's just me. I enjoyed watching his awesome games. Got irritated watching the useless showboating. I like Dybala a lot more as a player, he's clever, skillful and has that dead eye when to pass or shoot. Pogba needs attention, he wants to hold the ball and become centre stage.
The off field image is just a gimmick (the dabbing stuff is cringeworthy), although it's sad that we lost what he brings in that respect. For me that's potentially the biggest loss. It's true that he's impossible to directly replace, there isn't a comparable style of player, and definitely not as gifted or the same age. But we'll replace him with something different, like we did with Zidane. In this case it's completely different.
When Dybala gets his big offer and wants to leave I'll also be a little sad, but there's absolutely no point in getting attached to modern footballers. There are no clubs for life, there isn't loyalty. They are sold on the first glimpse of exposure and money. It's a farce. Until we either come into an awful lot of money or we regularly go deep in the CL there is the risk of this, and even then there is still the risk. We can't really win until the league becomes stronger again. Lose and it's an abject failure, win and it becomes a formality. Players will want change, there is always someone promising a million things somewhere else.
