It's very simple, really. Juve have done it before, everything was figured out by Allegri. 442/4231 is the perfect formation for him. The club has failed to build on that though.

He plays best as SS or CAM drifting towards the right side, it's been evident for quite some time now, and just as you mentioned, we've failed to build on that and then the midfield has been so problematic that Dybala had to more often than not drop too deep to bring some creativity to our game and that kept him too far away from the goal, really hope Pirlo figures it out and by the looks of it he seems to have let go of last season's idea of him being a false 9 or lone CF which is great as we need more of a strong central figure for that role, someone that Dybala and Ronaldo can play off from and put up the necessary support/pressing/aggresivity, that by looking at the reality of us enquiring about natural ST's for that starting role it kind of makes sense.

Makes no sense changing dybalas position again at all. It also makes jo sense stating ronaldo needs a player like dzeko next to him when he just came off a very good season of goal scoring.

For me this is a waste of time and resources which should be put towards the midfield and right back.

Well thats what pirlo thinks and he is the manager now and regardless the team needs a good striker for rotation and for certain games Dzeko would be usefull. We dont want to have another lyon where Dybala is out injured and we have no one to bring in, you seen how much that cost when we had to rely on that useless higgy.

Definitely need another striker than just him but it should be a rotation player and i get the feeling Dzeko is not coming here to ride the bench 90% of the time.

Dybala, CR7 and Dzeko on the field? I just don't see it.

:agree:

Allegri figured out early how to get the best of Dybala, he killed it alongside Mandzukic that first year in a front 2, and then alongside Higgy the next year on the way to a CL final... and the management have done everything they can since then to force coaches into playing him as a CAM or out wide.

Hopefully that isn’t the case again this year. I’d like to see a return to his best form from under Max in 15-16, 16-17, and the first half of 17-18.

Pirlo seems to favour the 3412 formation

In which case Dybala playing behind Dzeko and Ronaldo makes sense
Not it doesnt makes sense. His worst games were as trequartista under allegri.

Thats what i have been saying for days, the same with Suarez if he comes. So figure out what will happen by yourselves.

I think you are overthinking things. We once had Del Piero, Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic, Mutu and Zalayeta competing for two positions. In 2015-16 we had Dybala, Mandzukic, Zaza and Morata. Now we only have Ronaldo, Dybala and an unfit Higuain doing the same. If Higuain leaves, one or two forward additions are an absolute must regardless of our formation.
