I love their ignorance concerning salaries that we pay to our players. They think we pay 2x, 3x less. Did a quick calculation of Rooney's income, since he's the highest paid EPL player and apparently earns 12.480.000 GBP per year. Everything above 150.000 GBP of yearly income is taxated at 45%, 31.000-150.000 at 40% and 0-31.000 (10.600 personal allowance) GBP at 20%. To sum it up it turns out he earns 6.7m GBP or 7.8m Euros at current exchange rate. Certainly not a case that they could offer significantly higher salary to lure him away, considering Pogs will earn 5.5m net in 2016/17 and 6.5m a year after that.

This!

People always seem to exaggerate how big the difference in salaries are. To be honest the main difference lies in the fact, that squad players in Premier League often have large salaries aswell - this also implies that clubs are spending around the same ratio of their income on wages as italian and spanish clubs, and therefore they have to prioritize as well, they aren't an endless sea of cash.

If they want, they get can Messi in a heartbeat. There is nothing Barcelona can do about it, the world can only sit down and watch
Barcelona is very lucky that United does not deem Messi to be worthy of their prestigious club. Or else he would have been in Manchester 5 years ago.
