Well, more or less. Sure, when you take a risk it's only a bargain if he turns out good. The thing with Morata is that he had nothing to show for, if for competition at Madrid or whatever reason. It doesn't matter. It still comes down to how much we spent - we, a club that doesn't really spend that much on one player - and at what we were spending on.

Sure, we should always look for youngsters but we can't spend our biggest budget on an unproven (at least at some level) one that only seems slightly promising. He didn't look like a world beater then and still doesn't. It was a shot in the dark. Especially when nowadays anyone can look promising if they score a goal here and there.

And well, other transfers did not cost us 20mil, that's the difference. I thought after Krasic and Isla we had learned our lesson.
But with Vidal and Asamoah it paid off well and ogbonna is also getting better. Tevez is the only proven quality purchase that we made and we got him on a discount because of his age and his commitment issues. This type of player is only a short term fix.

Our squad needs youngsters and those who are already well established and in their early twenties cost a lot of money (especially strikers). FFS bony cost 35 mill and he is older and not even well established. Who do you have in mind that we could have got for that Morata money? Shaqiri was a transfer we should have pushed for this winter regardless of whether we bought morata or not but other than him I dont see anyone somewhat proven and young that we could have bought last summer. Give a few examples of guranteed top young players that we could reasonable buy within the same range of price.

Just when i hear the consideration of selling Pogba in the summer by Marotta or the fans i am pissed. I hope it's a bluff the same way Agnelli considering selling him before last summer was. I know the club doesn't want to sell him and no fan wants either, but even the consideration of doing so alone is a terrible decision.

How we deal with this major situation in the future will be of hugely importance on the future of Juventus and on whether this manegement is able to bring Juve to the next level or not.

We should have a very strong and not changeable position on the topic of whether selling Pogba in the summer or not is an option. We shouldn't consider selling him under any circumstances. Pogba is just 21/22, he is very professional, still hasn't fully reached his complete potential and he has a contract until 2019. Even if someone offers us 100m (Real) there is no reason to sell him. Refusing 100m in the summer is not refusing that kind of money as if it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, we will be able to sell him in 2016 or 2017 for a similiar amount, maybe even more, certainly only for let's say 10, 15 or in worst case scenario 20m less, which one or two season with Pogba can be worth.

If we say from the start that we won't sell him under any circumstance, make that clear to any club who ask's for him, make that clear officially (publicly), make that clear to Raiola and stick with it: Then there won't be any problems. I don't even want to hear potential excuses like "he wanted to go", "they offered him more than we could offer", "the offer Real made was 90-100m and unrefusable for an italian club". It's bullshit. We can keep a strong position and keep him regardless of what he and Raiola want. Pogba will accept it, sooner or later at the worst, and he would move on with giving his best for Juventus in 2015/2016 no matter what. 15/16 will be one of the most important season's in his career with the EC being in his home country, where he is going to be one of the main faces. He will give his all in that season regardless of where he plays, there are no excuses to let him go.

Also keeping him is very important from a marketing point of view, not just in order to make the leap in the field next year. One year more (at least) is worth a lot in that sense, especially with him playing the EC in France as their best player, which will bring a lot of light to Juventus. That's huge and not something we can let go for any money, particular since his worth on the market will only increase if France plays a great tournament, which is entirely possibly. Look what happened to the less talented James in a few weeks. Hell, it's even realistic that Pogba would make it in the top3 of the Ballon'Dor list with Messi and Ronaldo if France wins the EC.

I wish our club would deal with this situation the same way Bayern did with Ribery before 2010. Before they were a top-club who was considered a favourite for winning the CL, before they had a revenue of the likes of Barca, Manchester or Real. At a time when they were where we are now. They had a clear position and refused to sell him no matter what, Ribery had an agreement with Real, they offered big money as usual and Bayern kept him. They didn't use any italian-like excuses we hear monthly in Serie A, despite being in a similiar financial situation as we are now back then. Keeping Ribery was one of the reason's why they made the leap by the way. And selling Ribery for the amount they were offered was a once in a lifetime opportunity that summer, selling Pogba is not.

One last note: We might would have over 100m to invest in fees if we sell Pogba for that amount, but Pogba only earns 4,5m after tax, which means it's an illusion to believe we could sign 3, let alone 4 top players a la Tevez with a salary between 4-6m after tax. Those salary expenses would stick around, the fee we got for Pogba would be gone very soon, selling him is not as lucrative as it sounds in any way. And even the fee's we would have to pay would explode. Look what happened to Tottenham when they sold Bale or Milan when they sold Ibra/Silva. Or Dortmund. Or Arsenal when they sell their best players. Not just always look at what we did in a different time when we sold Zidane. Chances are we are going to be neither better on the field nor off the field (financially) a year after we sold Pogba.

And don't let me even start how terrible our management would be if we sell him for 70m or 80m this summers. I don't even want to think about it. And sadly i don't think it's completely impossible.

Juventus’ Marotta says Carlo Ancelotti is lying about Real Madrid’s interest in Paul Pogba:

Carlo Ancelotti has since answered questions over the speculation, saying:

"Paul Pogba can play anywhere but Real Madrid, because we aren’t interested in signing him,. We aren’t interested in signing him at this point in time, we’ll discuss the matter in June."

That assertion has now been labelled as a lie by Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta, who told Sky Italia:

"Ancelotti asked me some questions about Pogba. He says he’s not interested? Well, that’s a white lie. I’m sure he has his reasons to say it’s not true."

He'll leave us surely, either at the end of this season or at the end of the next. But we'll get 100 million for him, so that's nice :)

Lippi: Juventus should sell Pogba
By Football Italia staff

Marcello Lippi believes Juventus should cash in on Paul Pogba and use the funds to improve the rest of their squad.

The legendary Bianconeri Coach recalls that he faced a similar situation in his second spell at the club, with Zinedine Zidane being sold to Real Madrid.

Lippi went on to win back-to-back Scudetti and reach the Champions League final after the money was invested prudently, and the World Cup winner believes today’s Juve could do the same.

“When I went back to Juventus, [Gianni] Agnelli called me and told me he had to sell Zidane,” Lippi recalled in an interview with Sky.

“He was the best player in the world, but they gave us 150 billion lire [€77m], he told me not to worry, that it would all be spent on the team.

“We bought, [Gianluigi] Buffon, [Pavel] Nedved and [Lilian] Thuram, regrouped and the team kept winning.

“It would be a massive sacrifice of course, for Juventus to lose Pogba, but it would be for so much money that they could buy three or four players to help them be consistent.”

Lippi was also on the bench at Inter during his Coaching career, and played for Sampdoria during his playing days, so the 66-year-old discussed his former clubs as well as the rest of Serie A.

“Inter and Milan? They’re under construction, they’ve made a lot of changes. It’s not easy to instil the right mentality.

“As for Inzaghi, he started his career over the past few years, showing a good attitude and getting results. Coaching a big team like Milan isn’t easy, there are a lot of things that have to work.

“Sampdoria? Mihajlovic has been very good, he’s given them a great mentality and has them playing fast aggressive football.

“Can they make the Champions League? It’s all still open, don’t forget about Fiorentina too. Milan’s bad campaign gives everyone hope, Napoli are improving and I make them favourites.

“As for Juventus, it seems to me they were the cleverest in the first half of the season, they have something extra, particularly in a mental sense.

“The only downside to their first half of the season is they had a lot of injuries so important players in some positions had to play every game, and that can be a problem in the long-run.

“The club will have to act to enlarge the squad, but they’re still the strongest.”
