Still i think he got nothing on ZIdane´s dribblings. While Dinho was a very tricky brazilian player, i think Zidane dribbled with more elegance, and was not reliant on speedy trickeries and step overs. He dribbled way slower but his tricks were mindblowing. Pure technical mindgames to the max level.

both dino and zidane were great.
one of the most amazing things i saw zidane do in a serie a match for juve was hold the ball on the right side of opposition penalty waiting for support for something like 23 seconds. might not seem long but in football terms where players get closed down fast in serie a that's a very long time

This, us older guys will remember Zidane for his time at Juventus and what he did in 98 for France. Newer generations will remember him for Real Madrid and headbutting Materazzi. Simple.

About the Ronaldo discussion, i'd like to add that IMO as a player he's just done as much as many of the greats and is just as good, talent wise.
What separates the greats from Ronaldo is that mystique/magic that the World Cup used to have. ALL the great legends of the past became great legends because of it, Ronaldo never shone in that competition, and it's the reason why Ronaldo will never be put on the same level as those players.

This is just retarded, come on. I know you're young and have a bit of a prejudice against older Football, for it being slow or whatever reason but know these facts:
Footballers of the past might not have been great athletes, in fact they weren't, they didn't waste time trying to be as fast as an Olympian or as strong as an UFC fighter. They focused on being the best with the ball on their feet. They worked on their technique and ability with it, not their physicality.
Which is something the great majority of players today lack. Some can't even kick a ball right, let alone use both feet. Some really don't have the talent to be called a professional Footballer but they have the physical needs of today. So they can be used. I could name 100 Footballers who aren't really talented but they're great athletes.
You had to be really good to be praised, nowadays any Griezmann can be the next sensation and cost an arm and a leg even though they did absolutely nothing special. Pogba is turning into one of them if he doesn't wake up soon enough and start showing his talent on the pitch, not on words coming out of his mouth on interviews, he won't even be good enough to shine Zidane's shoes.

From what I can tell, the game has gotten a lot more physical, you're right about that. And it also makes just having skill much less useful than before. As a striker, if you can't handle other defenders, you're useless. Look at Messi. Great skill but he's also very quick and strong as hell. It's nearly impossible to push him off the ball. Plain speed and power won't make you a great player, they'll make you a useful one. Aka Walcott, Milner, etc. But you still need technique and believe it or not, it takes a lot of it to control a ball and pass when you're running full speed as opposed to jogging or walking.
