Now you're just trying to pick things you can criticize him for :lol2:
Isn't that the point? Stop being facetious. You are the one starting to look ridiculous and pathetic. If he is so fucking great, why doesn't he deliver for his country, or in some big games? It's not about scoring 5 goals against Malaga and friggin Eibar, and this is coming from someone who actually likes CR7 ffs!

How about his national team? Maradona and Pele both excelled with their national teams. Ronaldo has mostly been very disappointing and anonymous when playing for his country. He drifts out of games, and while he has been incredibly consistent over the past 2-3 seasons, he did fail to deliver in crucial games (whether it be against Atletico in the league or Dortmund in the CL semis a couple of seasons ago).
Is that really argument enough to exclude him from being mentioned in the same breath? The guy still has two eurocups and one world cup where he can perform.

To be a truly football great, its a requirement that you have carried your team in a world cup. Zidane, Maradona, and Pele all did this. Cruyff, Lothar, and Platini also did well for their country. Messi almost succeded on this.

Sadly Ronaldo is way behind in this parameter. Theres still time tho..

If, and when he does, we can revisit the argument. You dismiss these international tournaments as if they count for nothing. Moreover, defenses nowadays are a real joke. I know it is a different era, but I would have loved to see CR7 come up against Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Stam, etc... in their prime.

He does deliver for his country in big games. He's the only reason they made it in the World Cup in the first place. There's only so much one player can do. Not his fault he plays for an extremely mediocre Portugese side that loses to Albania at home.

Yeah, you're right. He should go back in time if he wants to be considered an all time great.

Agreed. Using future expectations to rate a player now is like saying Pogba is the best player ever.

Nani did more than Ronaldo, ask Greg.

Comparing footballers from different era seems ridiculous, game was different back then. It would be interesting though to see Ronaldo in the Serie of the 90 es, how he would fare against world class defenders of that time. Offensive players are nowadays way too protected.

B81 and Cronaldo :andyandbarcelona:

We're talking about individual players here. Ronaldo is a total beast but there's not much he can do with the shitty NT he plays for.

By B81's logic, Robben is a better player than Ronaldo.

Yeah, let's put Ronaldo in a team with decent teammates/gameplan and I don't think he'd have any problem in winning Euro/reching final stages in a WC. He's also not stimulated at all by playing for his homecountry being surrounded by those mugs after being used at Real Madrid and gets steamy easily with them, but that's his issue. In a Germany/France/Spain but also England or Italy, he'd make the difference like he always does.

Talking about Paul, yesterday he was one of the best players but let's stop giving alibis to the kid like if he's the only good player we have. Especially because he's the most technically gifted, we should be more "harsh" with him, even if he's still 21 and he's so intelligent he finds consistency easily. Even him yesterday could (should) have done something more, especially in the first half with those lost possessions.

Bullshit. Defending in Spain has always been poor, and like or not Zidane did not play against Serie A defenders in his prime.
