Im talking about the team he started out with in 14/15, he had some oldies goldies there. Where he continued with that team is another matter, obviously United regressed a lot.under Moyes and him.

Are you on drugs? You are posting rubbish.

Mourinho spent 185 mil. The 5 teams they faced in the knockouts spent a combined 75 million. Combined, they spent less than Mourinho spent on Pogba. Add to that they got Zlatan who is a top 5 striker in football for free.

Winning EL with that kind of financial advantage isn't impressive at all. It's like allowing a heavyweight boxer to compete in the straw weight division.

If United had beat something like Lyon, Roma, Tottenham on the way to an EL title, that's one thing, but St Etienne, Rostov, Anderlecht, Celta Vigo, Ajax is a joke.

United has 5x the squad of any of these teams. So let's drop the nonsense about this being some kind of impressive feat. They literally gave up on the league 2 months ago to focus on barely squeaking by a bunch of minnows. Mou did a shit job considering the team he has and the money he spent.
You still have to win it, even if you have Pogba in your team (lets be real, he's 2/3 of the transfer money flag you're waving like crazy, Id actually argue some teams in EL like Roma have a better team). It's a real trophy not a friendly tournament and it's not easy to win those.

And it's still a mediocre cup that teams out of the top 3-4 of any of the big leagues participate in. United drew pretty much the weakest opponents possible in every knockout round. Yes, you can only beat what is placed in front of you, but what was placed in front of them was a joke.

More telling of their season and how pathetic it really was, is that they finished 6th in the premier league. 24 points back of Chelsea. 7 points out of the top 4. That's pathetic and the very reason Mourinho had to put all his eggs in the Europa League basket. His domestic league, which is by far the biggest trophy each top 5-6 league team competes for outside of the champion's league, was an appalling failure. And this after United fans and pundits all picked the title race to be ManU vs ManCity or Mou vs Pep. You failed in a most pathetic fashion, especially considering the team he has.

Europa League is hardly better than domestic cups like Coppa Italia, Copa Del Rey, etc, at this point. You face absolute minnows from minnow leagues, and mid-table sides from the big leagues. It's good they won it, they should have, and were overwhelming favourites to win it, once all the pseudo-big sides went out, but acting like it's some big accomplishment and makes their season "great" or even "good" shows just how far they have fallen.

Downplay EL all you want, but at least in paper its the third strongest competition after La Liga and CL. If Mourinho hadnt won it the season would be a disaster, but,now they have their first real trophy since Ferguson and are going to play in CL, Id say thats a success.

You post the most delusional rubbish. Europa League is miles below any of the top 4 leagues. Most of the non-mental ManU fans don't even place it above Premier League, or Bundesliga, or Serie A. that Europa is only behind CL and La Liga. It's a competition of minnows, that occasionally a top team or falls into out of the group stage.

Just last season ManU fans ridiculed Liverpool fans for celebrating beating them in the Europa League Rof16. Called it a mickey mouse competition and a joke.

Now that they won this "mickey mouse" competition, it's a major tournament, almost on par with CL apparently.

You'd fit in better on RedCafe with such rubbish. I can't even imagine the meltdown on Tuz if we finished 6th place in the league but won Europa League.

Oh, and the domestic cup ManU won, is the midseason, joke League Cup. It's not the FA Cup which is their equivalent of Copa del Rey, Coppa Italia, etc. It's the rubbish cup.

Btw, Mourinho is trying to sell the idea that he stopped caring about the league, but he was 6th almost all season long.

:agree:

Mourinho has been going on about it for a while now, that they would have finished fourth if not for wanting to win Europa League, this major European trophy that United had not won before. And ManU fans are eating it up. The reality is they never actually reached 4th place, and that was while facing the mid and lower-table EPL sides. When they didn't reach 4th through their easy mid-season stretch, they were never going to do it with away trips to City, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Southhampton down the stretch. They finished 7 points out of 4th. Contrary to what Mou and his blowhard army would have everyone believe, they didn't abandon the Premier League top 4 chase by choice, they abandoned it out of necessity.

He probably thinks that ManU had a better season than us if we lose the CL final. :howler:

Exactly. Plus, if we go back to the bookie's predictions at the start of the season and most people's predictions too. The two biggest favorites for the title, due to the squads they have and the money they spent over the summer, were Man Utd and Man City. Those who are trying to defend Mourinho now are backpedalling, if you had told them at the start of the season that Utd will finish 6th, they'd have laughed you off. There's no doubt it has been a very poor season for them; beating Celta Vigo and Ajax to the Europa league doesn't change that.

lol, mate. That is so wrong. The old UEFA Cup [particularly in the 90's] was a strong competition. Nowadays, it's a joke of a competition.

I agree on their other two "cups" being rubbish. What I.dont agree with is comparison with Juventus, ManUtd are Englands Inter/Milan not Juventus, EL trophy is a decent season for them and would be a decent one for any of the tranny sisters

I said on paper, meaning teams participating in it as a unit are stronger than the 20 Serie A sides, at least on paper. In reality some of them.dont give a shit though. Its still not an easy competition to win, even we didnt do it in our record breaking season

United are definitely not on Inter/Milan level. They're on our level, especially given then amount of money they spent on players.

And the only reason we did not win the EL is because of Conte

Given the money spent, Tevez and Witsel are gods of football. On field, ManUnited is nowhere near our level since Fergie left.
