that's just stupid. why would they have to pay a lower set price and us spend more for the other half. if it is a price it is going to be a good price in both club's behalf.

If Osvaldo's record as a striker is $*$*, I suppose Vucinic's record as a striker was even worse before he came here. Vucinic in his four seasons prior to arriving at Juve (at 28 years old), 44 league goals in 122 appearances. Osvaldo in his four seasons before arriving at Juve (28 years old), 44 goals in 99 appearances. Osvaldo is a great bench option. Not a great player, by any means, but having someone of his quality coming off the bench is a good thing if he keeps his attitude in check, which in this team, I bet he will.

They are very different players and I never said vucinic is a world beater either. We shouldn't be signing Vucinic (if not worse) level players for that amount of money when our first team using our current formation needs a world class LWB and our bench needs a RWB that wont completely screw us over when Licht is unavailable for whatever reason.

Osvaldo is not an improvement over Quags, Gio and Vucinic.. and its not like he really replaced Vucinic we have retained both so far. If the market doesnt have what we need in other departments and we have to buy bench strikers for whatever reason then I'd rather spend these 20 mills on a really promising young striker or winger with great potential like Benteke, Salah, Schurle or Lukaku or players of that mold that can potentially break into the first team and be world class rather than someone who will always be guranteed to be on the bench. I'd rather even have adebayor or try for Chicarito than this guy. If no good coup is available then we might as well have done nothing.

Amauri had one good season before we paid 23 million for him. Over his 4 seasons before joining Juve it was 41 goals in 123 matches, which is a terrible strike rate.

Osvaldo is twice the player. over his previous 4 seasons it was 50 goals in 104 matches (not including this recent stint with Southampton).

Neither are world beaters. But Osvaldo is far more established than Amauri was. We bought Amauri off the back of his 15 goals in 38 appearances season, but that was the exception in his career, not the norm. Stupid purchase. Osvaldo has had 3 straight seasons better than that (14 in 26, 11 in 26, 17 in 31) and all while being rotated and never appearing more than 31 times which means he can play well in rotation unlike an Amauri or Matri type.

I am not saying that they are the same quality of player.

I am saying that I can see him playing well here for the first 6 months or so then being disappointing in the second season only to become another expensive player who is hard to shift like Amauri was for us.
