So who is gonna be the first player that Osvaldo busts his face because not passing him the ball?

This troublemaker is not worth the risk, in my opinion. We will see but I hope at least this means that we are taking the EL seriously. Not for the money but winning it would be the base for success in the champions league. In serie A we have a winning mentality that gives an edge over our rivals. They fear us. We are lacking that in Europe. Winning the EL is the first step for achieving that.

If Osvaldo's record as a striker is $*$*, I suppose Vucinic's record as a striker was even worse before he came here. Vucinic in his four seasons prior to arriving at Juve (at 28 years old), 44 league goals in 122 appearances. Osvaldo in his four seasons before arriving at Juve (28 years old), 44 goals in 99 appearances. Osvaldo is a great bench option. Not a great player, by any means, but having someone of his quality coming off the bench is a good thing if he keeps his attitude in check, which in this team, I bet he will.

How is Osvaldo worth any where near 20 mil though? theres no logic behind spending that amount of money on a striker who isn't exactly Cavani..
Ummmmm. You do know Cavani cost 63 million right? There's a big difference between 20 million and 63 million. But you knew that, right? right? right?

Yep, keep comparing Osvaldo to Vucinic, it's funny.
I like them both as first off the bench types. 'tis only that I don't understand why people rate Vucinic so highly, and Osvaldo so low. Osvaldo is a better finisher slightly, and Vucinic has a fair bit more creativity. Both at 28, I rate Vucinic as slightly better. Now with Vucinic past 30, Osvaldo is the better option for this team going forward, assuming we can sign him for under 15mil.

Edit. Osvaldo was brought in to be Llorente's backup, which Vucinic would have been. Hence the comparison. I think an Osvaldo--Vucinic partnership could be quite good for times when we need to rest Tevez--Llorente. I hope it means that we make a push in the EL.

Got a feeling he is going to be good for us this season.

Regardless of how good he is for the next 6 months, I would still have reservations on signing him permanently. Long term I just have a bad feeling he would turn out to be an Amauri.

-'we can't compete with other clubs'
We can't compete with some other clubs regardless what we spend. What I find most interesting is how we and the media have been talking constantly about a left back, wingers and 4-3-3, yet the club has made absolutely no attempt through several transfer windows to suggest we are looking for those type of players. There is no failure if there is no attempt. Maybe it'll be different this summer, but I'd imagine a free Menez and cut-price Nani will be seen as opportunities - a word Marotta often uses and a tactic that has served us well (many of our best buys have been, like it or not) - to given Conte the option to change the formation if required. I don't expect we'll suddenly decide over the summer that we are going to use one particular approach or tactic, but I could be wrong.

Amauri had one good season before we paid 23 million for him. Over his 4 seasons before joining Juve it was 41 goals in 123 matches, which is a terrible strike rate.

Osvaldo is twice the player. over his previous 4 seasons it was 50 goals in 104 matches (not including this recent stint with Southampton).

Neither are world beaters. But Osvaldo is far more established than Amauri was. We bought Amauri off the back of his 15 goals in 38 appearances season, but that was the exception in his career, not the norm. Stupid purchase. Osvaldo has had 3 straight seasons better than that (14 in 26, 11 in 26, 17 in 31) and all while being rotated and never appearing more than 31 times which means he can play well in rotation unlike an Amauri or Matri type.

Seriously, you've been going to great lengths just to prove Osvaldo is a good player. Let me tell you this, nice try. :hellyes:

I also have a feeling he wont be as bad as people think and could be useful these 6 months, also agree about not buying him for long term.
