Osvaldo only turned 28 two weeks ago. It's basically the identical move to Vucinic coming 2 years ago. We paid 15 mil for Vucinic at 28 and gave him 3.5 mil a year. 28 year old Osvaldo and 28 year old Vucinic are very similar.

Vuci last 4 seasons at Roma were 9,11,14,10 league goals. So 44 goals in 122 appearances in league play.

Osvaldo last 4 seasons (2 at Espanyol and 2 at Roma) were 7,13,11,16 league goals. 47 goals in 99 appearances in league play.

So actually Osvaldo goals per appearance are significantly better than Vucinic's in the 4 years before they each moved to Juve. SO if we paid 15 mil for Vucinic at 28, 15-16 mil for Osvaldo at 28 is certainly a decent deal.
No just stop, 15mil for vucinic was a good peice of business, you could just look at numbers all you want and judge players off that, be my guest. Bottom line is if we sign this peice of shit at the end, this club is going in the wrong direction

People overreacting here too much. Marotta won't pay 20m for him you can bet your ass on it.

I don't like Osvaldo but right now he's the only natural replacement for Llorente. Conte likes strong forwards above all. He's decent for Serie A standards but it's not what we should be aiming for imo.

Say what you want but if we ended up selling Vucinic and getting nobody our bench options would be Giovinco - Quag pair. Let's be hones they suck ass when fielded together and I'd hate to see them once again playing like the Roma game in CI. I'll take Vucinic - Osvaldo ahead of them gladly. Much more talent, force and quality there.

I do think we'll buy Osvaldo after the season though. We agreed to high buy-out clause so we got a free loan to try the guy and fill the gap for cheap. They will want to get rid of him anyway and there won't be many other options for him considering how broke Serie A clubs are. If only Marotta offloaded Giovinco and Quag January would be quite good imo.

Well atleast on a positive note,we have immense striker depth now, there's just no excuse for not performing in EL.We should look towards winning the tournament now.

We won't. Quag, Vucinic and Giovinco won't play more than 20 minutes each till May.

maybe he will punch bonucci then both of them will be sold
Bonucci is such a liability. It's funny how a team would play him just to field a formation. He must be Lothar Mattheus on steroids.

you know it will happen
We will likely renew this deal. But I don't think it'll be at the figures discussed. We should be patient and revisit the situation after six months to see if it's going to cost us or not. For now though, we should hope Osvaldo succeeds.

Please tell me then why Vucinic was so much better than Osvaldo is? The numbers suggest otherwise. Osvaldo has a much better goal to appearance ratio over his 4 years prior to joining Juventus and seeing as the primary job of a striker is scoring regularly, I don't see how you can say Vucinic is so much better. He had a few more assists, a few less goals. Osvaldo is a super talented player, who has never yet maximized his potential. Perhaps Conte shall help him do so. He has potential to be much better than Mirko, and then 15 or so mil is peanuts.

As I said, if we exercise the option in the summer for around 15, I'm happy with this transfer assuming he does well here. He's over 2 years younger than Vucinic, so he still has some resale value for the next few years if he does well, whereas Vucinic on the wrong side of 30 has his market value in free fall. Whether it's right or not 30+ year old strikers don't have much value in the market. For example Berbatov was sold to ManU for 38 mil at 27 and 4 years later at 31 they got 7 mil for him from Fulham. Carlos Tevez is on the cusp of 30 and is twice the player Vuci is and barely cracked 10 mil to us. I could go on.

Osvaldo is as good as Vucinic, with a slightly higher ceiling now that Vuci is over 30, and he has better future value if he does well here.

Bringing in a forward in January while we already have five can only mean one thing.

You cant be this pessimistic. There's a reason Conte requested for a striker despite having a 6 point lead in Serie A and its as mentioned above.
