If Torres starts scoring this league really is at the bottom of ladder.
Doesn't really mean anything. Some players are better suited for different leagues. Like Gervinho for example, couldn't do too much in the PL, but tears up Serie A. Where as someone like Coutinho couldn't do anything in Serie A, but is running rampant in the PL

Milan have definitely improved this season, don't know why people are laughing at their mercato so much. The only thing I'm not sure about is their midfield (with a lack of Montolivo for a while) and another inexperienced coach like Inzaghi following on from Seedorf. Menez, Alex, Torres (yes, I think he'll do pretty well in Italy) are all good signings for them.

So, by extension the EPL went from shit to first in the weeks during his transfer from Pool to Chelsea?

and one hardly needs Torres' stats as an indicator for serie A no longer being anywhere near the top of the food chain - that's been the case for a while now.

 - too many changes at hand (leagues, tactical systems, club environment, etc) for one to be able to draw a logical conclusion.

It's a defense mechanism that allows people to not have to face the reality of their team's irrelevance in the grand scheme of things. Being on top is a good feeling to have never mind how low the reference level may be.

That being said, Milan's mercato's been alright as long as one keeps in mind what's realistic these days not only for Milan but Serie A in general. The one real shortcoming so far has been a lack of reinforcements in midfield. How this team fares would ultimately come down to the Inzaghi factor and how he brings the team together and not so much the individual talent of the players. Said the same thing when Juve had just hired Conte and Milan's situation now is not much different.
