That's the kind of thing I remember about foreign language threads. They were always chat threads for two or three fluent speakers already on the forum. In that sense, they served no purpose.
Ill admit it went out of topic sometimes, but we still discussed football in spanish and posted news relevant to the topic

I think its okay, I mean for example this sub-forum we are posting in, why not have a couple of topics where people can speak in the language they way, ie a Spanish one, Italian, Turkish, whatever it doesnt matter, I mean really what is it, an extra 4-5 threads in a forum that has really 1 thread and thats it? Or is it we just have to ban someone because there english isnt very good?

Because such forums would be unmoderated.

Andy - do you think I've always spoken English the way I do now? There was a time I didn't speak one single word of English and I still wouldn't if people would've denied me access to English sources of various kinds on the basis of my miserable English skills.

then let Fabi moderate the spanish thread. she is trustworthy enough, and its not as if she's a new member. alot of people on here speak dual-languages its most certain that at least a few people will also speak these languages.

I think this one got missed as an end of page post

But it's not our aim to be that, we only aim to provide a place to talk about Juve in English. If you want to have a proper forum for another language you need moderators for it. There's also the question of language barriers and small communities forming which others can't participate in, which is another form of discrimination from that of not being a Juve fan or not speaking English well.

Esteban could do the spanish one
Menace could moderate the french one
Erik could keep an eye on a dutch and italian one
Jeeks could moderate the arabic one

and so on

Exactly there is a means to achieve these if people would try and think about it. and we also have kaiser and nick for the italian one.

and another view point. what about people who want to learn more about another language? i know obviously we all know this is primary and english forum and thats fine. but for example if there was a spanish thread then it would give some of us the opportunity to improve out own understand of that or any other languages that a thread was made from with people we mostly know. either way it only improves the place in my opinion.

There is a girl whose name is Jessica that was really fun to talk to, she liked Juve and we would discuss football stuff in spanish with Arturo (Hydde) and Esteban (Espectro). She stopped coming after the spanish thread got closed because she didnt know much english... its a shame to have seen her go because of that

I don't want a Dutch thread and I don't think any of the Dutch/Belgian members here think differently about that. If you want to speak your mother tongue - go to a forum from a nation where they speak it.

Moderators can be found for such threads then

Moderators could be found, but only from that circle of a few members, which would in turn probably mean the moderator wouldnt be objective in that thread. Plus, moderators are selected based on other qualities, not just the foreign languages they speak.

Yet some members suggest we dont allow others to the same for English. Double standards?

And like Mikhail and I've already explained, at the present time it isn't on the cards.

Like I said, we are open to everyone and if Jessica or anyone else wants to use this place to speak English, they are most welcome to. But we don't have the resources (nor the desire) to be everything to everyone.

Nicole, if you want to practice Italian, you should join and Italian forum. And hope that they are as open to people who butcher their language as we are. That's just the way it is.

Of course not, however you certainly had at lease a decent grasp of the language when you signed up here.

Don't get me wrong, you do not need to have a very good grasp of the language to post here. However, IMO you should at least have enough of a grasp to actually make sense, albeit not having perfect grammar and spelling. A poster such as JuvetheBest never makes any sense, and it just brings the forum down IMO. But rules are rules and I respect them.

I joined an italian forum to try and practise and they would ignore me because of my poor italian skills

I think it was the one at juventus1897.it
