consider this: instead of throwing to Reche Caldwell, Brady had jerry Rice. And as for refereeing blunders two come to mind the blatant interference in the end zone on Brown that wasnt called and the ridiculous roughing the passer penalty in the last drive. Still i think the colts deserved to win.

Know who some of these guys are??

They are the Starting Running Back, FullBack, #1 Wide Receiver, and Tight End that Montana had for targets when he won his first Super Bowl back in 1982. His only legit weapon was Dwight Clark, who by the way, made, I believe, 1 pro bowl in his entire career.

Super Bowl #2

He had 2 rookie runningbacks in Roger Craig and Tom Rathman, Carl Monroe, Dwight Clark, Renaldo Nehemiah, and an over the hill Russ Francis as his primary targets.

Again, its not like he was blessed with superior talent around him when he won those first two super bowls.

Jerry Rice came onto the scene a year later, and John Taylor was the year after that.

So, you say "Reche Caldwell", I say "Freddie Solomon". You say "Troy Brown", I say "Dwight Clark". Pretty even right there, I would say.

Admit it, you love the NFL.

You're just stuck with the Detroit Lions. :D
Nah, you got it all backwards, main..

I love the Detroit Lions, but I'm just stuck with the NFL. Just like I love Penn State, but I'm stuck with watching the nonsensical BCS.

Just give me European football and ice hockey, and I would be much better off.

i must admit i havent seen much of the early montana, my first vivid memory of him was when he beat chicago in the playoffs. but up to this point brady has done some pretty impressive things and in all honesty doesnt cease to amaze me, and the latest episode was this last game where i thought he was in total control. Again it's more than just the numbers and the stats. i guess we shall evaluate his career once its over.

Don't read The Omnivores Dilemma. Americans all have corn shooting out of their asses like water cannons.
:lol2: That's quite a pleasant mental picture.

But seriously, Iowa has so many privildges it's absolutely disgusting. Archer Daniels Midland is the biggest rent-seeking corporation in the world, and obtains so many favors from the Republicans that they're not only allowed to shoot as much corn out of their own asses, but also into everybody elses at the same time.

I would like a semi-wall on the back, that is the only way I could work there.
Yes definitely, should be so nobody can see what you're doing on your computer or it's annoying

It's -7°C over here. It's not supposed to be like that. It's supposed to be -1 all month, like all other years. First we get this storm, which annoyed the crap out of me because it was bloody irritating to walk through the rain (and some houses were completely destroyed as well, but hey), and now they want me to freeze my balls off? FFS, Al, I'm not even trying anymore.
Groningen scored -15, I keep telling people you can't live in the North

There's something I don't get about a work place like that:

shouldn't people be working on those computers, shouldn't it therefore be far better to be able to look at each other's screens thus enabling social control? Sure every once in a while people get distracted, but now they turn mental. I'm not sure which one is most productive.

I couldn't work in a place like that, I'd have gone mental in the space of three days.

But yeah you have a point. I guess it's supposed to discourage people chatting with each other...

Erik, got a question for ya.

I was reading yesterday in "How Soccer Explains the World" about the jewish influence on dutch football. Supposedly Ajax is a big pro-jewish team. The author (Franklin Foer) mentions that the stadium and fans have Israeli flags and players such as Cruyff were philo-semites. The whole reason to this was, according to the author, a post WWII guilt that the Dutch felt.

Anywho, I wanted to ask you whether this is an exaggeration, which could very well be since the guy had a whole chapter dedicated to jewish football where he desperately tries to find material. Even if it is true, I was wondering if it's still exists.

I'm not Erik, but it still exists. I'm honestly not sure though what the reason is of the jew-ajax link. Though those that use those jewish chants nowadays just use it out of tradition and nothing more. An ajax chant (used both as pro and- anti-ajax) constantly used is "Joden!" (Jews).

Complicated story. The history goes back to well before the Second World War, when the Jewish population in Amsterdam was substantial and Ajax had a lot of Jewish fans. That's when the Jewish connection was born.

I can tell you it was not out of some post WWII guilt because that, quite simply, is as good as non-existent in the Netherlands.

Since Anne Frank's diary was published, the nation has had a reputation that it saved a lot of Jews during the Second World War, but that couldn't be further from the truth for a lot of reasons. Most importantly: the geography of the country doesn't allow for any hiding.

Back to football: the Jewish culture in Ajax still exists, but predominantly in the hardcore fan base, the F-side. They're the ones waving Israeli flags even if most of them aren't Jewish anymore today.

The whole phenomenon has had a few negative side-effects as well, most notably anti-semetic replies from opposing fans.
