Trezeguet's words were the worst. His contract doesn't have much years left anyway( ends in 2008 I beleive?), so it might be best to let him go in the summer. Get someone who contributes to our play.

I think scaring the opposition and putting the ball in the net is a contribution to play: although I do see your point, the type of player you envisage are few and far between: I hope we can keep Trez.

Typically Belgian.

The french speaking national TV RTBF stopped it's programs of yesterday evening to reveal shocking news: Flanders had declared it's independence.

Known politicians were interviewed, live reporters were on the key places in the capital,... everything looked real.
After half an hour, a message appeared at the bottom "this is a fiction".

 but the harm was already done. People went to the royal palace to show their support for the king (who supposedly left the country), the ministery of internal affairs was spoiled with phone calls, and even foreign channels reported the news as true (CNBC). :pint:

This morning, walloon and flemish politicians agreed on something for the first time in years, by saying how disgraceful this show had been.

I though it was brilliant.

Did you know the French government has scenario plans lying around "What to do if Belgium collapses?"

Of course they mostly include strategies on how to get the Walloons to join the honourable Republic.

The French government?? Really? Lol, I'd never join la Republique.

If Belgium collapses, I want Brussels to be some sort of tax free European District. That would rock.

Can you invite me to that tax-free heaven??

I'll give you half of the taxes I'm paying now...

Well you know how the French are, they like to think French-speaking peoples in Europe are historically French.

Nuh, the Flemish would claim it for historical and geographical reasons. They would probably force the French speaking inhabitants to migrate.

How disturbing is it that the above doesn't even sound that far-fetched? :D

Soo true; The other day i was talking to a french guy, he told me he felt Wallonie, Quebec, and French speaking switzerland were kinda "lost french provincies". :disagree:

At least, we'd have a better football team.

I'll be waiting for them, and go Manneken Pis all over them.

I've stopped caring, I guess.

I found out the other day Vlaams Belang would like for Flanders to join a Greater Netherlands, it's all very unsettling. All we share is a language: we're more Scandinavian, the Flemish are very Latin (even if they won't admit it). In fact I think we should offer them Limburg and Brabant so we can bring back the Dutch Republic

Some of my flemish friends are dreaming of this "Groot Nederland"... They're not even extremists.

You're telling me. I keep having to phone the Flanders and Brussels offices here in The Hague cause we need their approval/agreement about things that cross internal borders. So far I haven't needed to contact the federal embassy yet so they caught me off guard when they called this afternoon:

"Hello this is [insert random name] from the head department"
"The who from the what now?"
"The federal embassy"
"Of which federation?"
