That has more to do with Jupps Bayern and Klopps Dortmund than with Peps barca. Who exactly even plays like them today? No one. That high press gun ho football that is taking over the CL is nothing like what Pep is doing. In fact, its what has been schooling him for years now
Zidane's Real never pressed like Jupp's Bayern or Klopp's Liverpool and yet they won 3 straight CLs by doing mindless crosses into the box.

Once you take care of the big things, it mostly comes down to luck and seizing the moment. Hopefully Pep has that 5% of luck with us.

The important thing is not going into a match and being incapable of stringing 5 passes together and getting mauled.. (Allegri...).

Agree but he never played tiki taka either, it was a well balanced team from defense to attack, that knew when to sit and absorb pressure, when to come out and press and when to take over the game. What i wanted to say with that post is that this other high tempo style had more impact on transforming teams than Peps style, becuase i fail to see a single team trying to immitate his barcelona.

But don't you think Pep's football is responsible for the disappearence of some player positions?
The non-technical 6, the classic winger etc stopped to exist.

Complete MFs who can press, mark, pass and run forward and ball playing defenders appeared.

Please. Zidane also played nothing like tiki taka, and was much more of a pragmatic, solid organization in the middle and back, and be ruthless and clinical in attack, then some tiki-taka ball dominant, or gung-ho high press team.

And Allegri’s teams were fantastic to watch his first 3 seasons here, including in the realm of coherent passing and attacking movements. A very poor season this year, and an average one last year doesn’t change that.
