And this is another reason why I think swaggers is correct in calling it a cult.
Not necessarily. Life is short. There's lot of shit to do and things to see. You could also have kids and regret it. I know a few people who have admitted they do regret it, and these aren't cases of disability either.
This is another good reason not to have kids.
This is something people always say. But there's no guarantee your kids will be there for you anyway. Just go talk to someone in a nursing home, you'll hear a lot of sad stories about that. And if this is a major factor in deciding whether you (not you personally, but anyone) have kids or not, you're doing it wrong.
Oh yeah, it's a cult. But as long as you go in with your eyes open, maybe you want to belong to a cult. We all do to some degree. But all cults aren't for everybody.
And you're right about the lame argument of having someone to look after you when you get older. The news stories now are all about children who grow up blaming their parents for everything and estranging them. So that's a lame argument right there.
While I have zero regrets not having children (i'm still a bit of one myself), you do it because of how it changes you, how you can give back to the world, how you learn to be a better person in this world for someone else and not just your selfish self. Anything above and beyond that are lies, damned lies and statistics.
Thanks, bro. You would be too. Raising kids on the classics! Well-adjusted, able to handle whatever the world throws at them kids.
If I have kids, I definitely don’t want to be 70 when they turn 20. I have an uncle like that and it just seems unfortunate to be in that position, physically unable to really do all the things you would want to do with your kids as they grow up.

Accident or on purpose?
Oh, I may not want to hang out with other parents who make kids their cult, but I do hang out with parents and kids who do not. People don't get that. I love kids. It's just that many of the trappings of parenthood I find obscenely problematic. And hence the term uncle I like ... I enjoy being an uncle. I don't mean that with just my nephews. I mean that as a role model in the lives of children for someone who isn't tasked with keeping them alive, fed, and not getting pregnant or shot dead. But rather someone who is part of the broader support network who can help raise a child in the village without having to own the dominant relationship with them.
Bro, you seem to forget the business world, in general, is resistant to change. Plus, the businesses themselves would have to implement it, fucking themselves up.
It does make me wonder if AI-generated child pr0n can be prosecuted as child pr0n though. It's another dimension of the question of who is the actual creator, who is the owner of an image, who is the victim, and how those legal rights are established and enforced. The courts are not ready for these questions.
Oh, but they are already doing it.
CEOs are not interested in the long term or how their actions impact the overall economic environment. They are interested in short term profits and quarterly results. In short term AI will increase productivity and thus profits.
They are also incentivised to look for productivity gains while there has been a shortage of workers. AI gives them that leverage. Since the start of the year more than 150 000 people in tech in USA lost their jobs. True, they were mainly business personal but soon junior specialists will follow.
Microsoft is already testing AI across all its products with many big companies. Soon we will have AI producing short video clips and short after that longer and longer clips. Every day there are news about AI being trained faster and faster with less resources.
I advise all of you to wake up and start preparing for the inevitable. I won't be sleepwalking into this without preparation.

I hope everybody jumps on the AI bandwagon, gets hopped up on short-term profits, and then gets decimated by the broader market over the longer term because they sold out their business' future for a few pieces of gold.
Remember: AI is dead. Even GPT-4 has no data beyond Sept 2021. And if the future is about complex societies, being fast and nimble, learning, and solving novel problems, banking your business on technology that merely mines the past for what's popular is a recipe for dinosaur-level extinction.
The purpose of all CEOs is to maximize profits, it's all they are supposed to do. They answer to investors.
The tech industry was super bloated, especially after 2020, ask
@swag .
ZOMG, the entitled bloat in companies like Facebook or Google who have not innovated crap for over a decade and are playing a defensive game of King of the Hill, pushing innovative threats off the hill. Fat, dumb, entitled, lazy, clueless. It's been a long time coming.
Great news. Swimming did it last year and now athletics. Loving the meltdown over this by the fringe loonies out on the far left. Imagine raging this hard because men aren’t allowed to change their gender and go dominate women’s sports.
I don't get why people get worked up over trannies in college sports in the first place, regardless of where you stand on the issue. The celebrate-trannies-as-women-Olympians are not only a sham of an "achievement", but of all the quality of life concerns for trans people ... donning a bathing cap for Purdue is ridiculously low on the list of priorities.
And for all the people who cheer the trannies being locked out of women's sports, they're way too easily triggered and trolled about something that really doesn't matter. Our world today has been defined now not by the issue, but instead by the reactions to the people who take sides on an issue as the primary source of aggrevation. So instead of arguing the merits of Bitcoin, we have people making fun of Bitcoin Maximalists or Etherium supporters. Instead of watching Nicki Minaj videos, they're instead engrossed in reaction videos to old people watching Nicki Minaj videos.
It's all self-flagellation where your quality of life is driven by someone else's opinions, not your own. Nobody should surrender their happiness to what someone else thinks, particularly someone you disagree with.
