My brothers mother -in - law died two weeks ago. They weren't able to have a funeral service because of "COVID" and the governments threatening to arrest people for social distancing violations, etc so the decision was to cremate and have a service when restrictions are removed.

Barely 10 days later, thousands flock to memorial services for Floyd and now those medical practices are no more.

Why?

Same reason people peacefully protesting the destruction of their livelihood in Michigan were terrorists and now people stealing tvs in CA are civil rights activists?

Rules are only as good as the people who choose to adhere to them or enforce them.

Also, sorry to hear that Cam.

Appreciate that, I barely new her since they lived in Ohio. I feel more sorry for my brother and his wife since they couldn't have the service she wanted and deserved. It must be frustrating for them watching and wondering what would happen if they decided to just say fuck the system and have a memorial service for her since its OK now apparently.

10 days ago..couldn't go to church or have funerals, kids in DC were getting lectured in parks playing basketball because there were more than "10". Those rules got shit canned in the blink of an eye for something that can kill people in large numbers, right?

I feel you. You follow rules all your life cos that's what a good citizen does, and then you see others around you repeatedly flouting those rules, leaving you to decide whether you still stick to following them or say fuck it and break it as well. Not easy.

yeah, it’s almost as if the nation forgot about covid19. Even in my office there’s like zero protocols being followed even though cases are growing

gonna be interesting to see if outbreaks stemming from these protests cause states to reverse these openings

well last week the media was pissed about the "Ozarks party" and no new cases stemmed from that.

Going to learn one of two things rather quickly:

1.) This COVID was wayyyyy overblown

or

2.) This COVID was spot on accurate

either people together en mass will spread the virus or it just isn't as bad as it was thought.

I still can't believe nearly two weeks ago people were jailed and/or business shut down for COVID violations. Now looters are arrested and immediately released in NYC and other cities.

It’s too early to tell.

The title of this article is kinda misleading.
it just quotes one Missouri health official who said that the numbers do not reflect an increase in the number of cases.
and yes, these protests will have disastrous consequences on the spread of Covid.

There are idiots who are definitely being hypocritical, but let’s not pretend that the authorities are acting any different. There are several videos showing the NYPD assaulting peaceful protestors and blocking off a bridge so people couldn’t get off. It’s been the same in other cities like Washington.
I have no sympathy for looters and rioters, but it’s not as if police aren’t taking any action against them (which they definitely should) or against peaceful protestors (who are breaking no laws, apart from curfew or Covid restrictions where they apply).

It's a bit scary how the masses are manipulated so easily
young people are very impressionable, a lot of them can basically be led around by the nose if they see a popular movement and social media has become a frighteningly effective way of doing that.

You could get alot of these people to do shocking, horrible things if its trending.

From what I see it's not just young people.

But yeah, the amount of hatred and violent rhetoric you're seeing (for police, for anyone who doesn't share the popular view, etc.), these people can easily be led commit actual violence. Oh yeah, and the racism from the anti-racists.
