Vote by mail is awesome. I live in a red state and it works fine. Anyone who says it cause voter fraud is lying.
if there wasn't video the cause of death would've been COVID-19.

I feel like I'm in an episode of dr Phil where the 12 yo beats up his mom who doesn't have the cojones to confront him.
A lot of Sherlock Holmes in this thread.

yeah, it’s almost as if the nation forgot about covid19. Even in my office there’s like zero protocols being followed even though cases are growing

gonna be interesting to see if outbreaks stemming from these protests cause states to reverse these openings
Yeah. The reopenings had seen new cases spiking, mostly in the south over the last couple weeks.

Unless Covid-19 has burnt itself out like some Spanish and Italian doctors have suggested (new cases apparently have far less viral load there), America is in for a rough June.

So funny seeing clowns who were furious that some people wouldn’t stay home and protect the at risk, now out protesting, without a mention of the virus. Some idiot got mad at me for going out bouldering throughout April and May, because I could get injured and strain the hospital system lol

well last week the media was pissed about the "Ozarks party" and no new cases stemmed from that.

Going to learn one of two things rather quickly:

1.) This COVID was wayyyyy overblown

or

2.) This COVID was spot on accurate

either people together en mass will spread the virus or it just isn't as bad as it was thought.

I still can't believe nearly two weeks ago people were jailed and/or business shut down for COVID violations. Now looters are arrested and immediately released in NYC and other cities.
it’s probably not as bad as it could have been but 100k deaths is a lot, though in the US it needs to be a couple million to take anything seriously

people conveniently forget that public health officials said “ if we handle this thing correctly, it will seem as if the reaction was blown out of proportion “

There are idiots who are definitely being hypocritical, but let’s not pretend that the authorities are acting any different. There are several videos showing the NYPD assaulting peaceful protestors and blocking off a bridge so people couldn’t get off. It’s been the same in other cities like Washington.
I have no sympathy for looters and rioters, but it’s not as if police aren’t taking any action against them (which they definitely should) or against peaceful protestors (who are breaking no laws, apart from curfew or Covid restrictions where they apply).
My problem starts with the authorities. Retarded policies, retarded outcomes.

So how is this "no more police" going to work in these cities? Minneapolis city council is thinking about defunding the police there. LA Mayor Garcetti announced instead of a major budget hike for LAPD, he is going to slash funding.

These cities are already crime ridden, well, LA is anyway, so what is the politicians excuse going to be be when crime doesn't change and gets worse?

What the fuck are they to gain out of this?

i dont think they are actually thinking that far ahead lol.

Having said that I wonder how much of this is because it is an election year combined with millions of students out of school/ work due to quarantine and the opportunity for public figures/ major companies to cash in on wokeness.

My question is do you guys think this will bring about significant societal change (either positive ie significant criminal justice reform or negative signifcant economic damage breakdown of a cohesive society) or be largely over with and forgotten come 2021?

I think you’re right about this being a conglomeration of things rather than a single issue, definitely a lot going on out there

eventually, SLC police have been pretty open to reforms and changes to make them better servants to the community. Tonight the curfew was lifted.

historically, these things work if you do it long enough. When MLK was killed people rioted for 5 days straight and the civil rights act was passed but that was a result of decades of struggle, so I guess the answer to your question is maybe. It really just depends on your city

My brothers mother -in - law died two weeks ago. They weren't able to have a funeral service because of "COVID" and the governments threatening to arrest people for social distancing violations, etc so the decision was to cremate and have a service when restrictions are removed.

Barely 10 days later, thousands flock to memorial services for Floyd and now those medical practices are no more.

Why?
So sorry to hear that, Cam.

Two weeks ago: I wanna go to church, no fuck you. I wanna get a hair cut, nope can't do that either you selfish prick

Today: I'm gonna burn some shit, and steal shit that isn't mine and maybe throw a brick or two. Ok, sounds good. Be safe. Wear a mask or not we don't care.
It's not that hard to follow though. When having to choose between the threat of COVID-19, with a 0.2% mortality rate for people under 30, versus the mortality rate from overaggressive police in black communities, COVID seems like an annoyance at best.

Not only that, but a lot of this is almost somewhat predictable, given the historical relationship between disease lockdowns and social unrest (https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicole...rotests-amid-pandemic-lockdowns/#4a2edd1414a6). <-- note this was published March 21, at the beginning of lockdowns

Cleveland indians: 40 men
KC chiefs: 59 men

Even you can figure out which one is higher doodool

Some parts of the defunding idea suggest it's better and more cost effective to address social problems before they happen. America loves the punishment, but we are loathe to fund preventative investments for often a lot less money and murder victims as a result.

But defunding the police is also counter to what most predominantly black neighborhoods want, which is why it's especially smacks of wannabe woke white people trying to speak for the black experience.

Which isn't to say the cops have tons of abuses to be accountable for. But it has shown in Baltimore after the police pullback following Freddie Gray's death and the so-called "Ferguson effect". And while I can't find the research citation unfortunately, I did recently read a couple of surveys that suggested the majority of blacks who suffered police abuse still wanted a greater, not less of a, police presence in their neighborhoods.

This is not Europe, his gun was holstered on his right where that man's hand was reaching, but why don't you post this instead

This what they have to deal with, a rotten disgusting and violent culture
What does this have to do with the way the police handled the situation on the 75 year old?

The old man had something in his hand and he wasn't even reaching to the right. Come on man!

Am not ignoring anything. Anyone who breaks the law needs to be dealt with.
