If you're upset about Trump taking the side of the police, Obama basically did the same thing by taking the side of the protesters while he was in office regardless of the event. Many argued that he was trying to exacerbate violence and make his base angrier and angrier, which, along with the racial angle, would help him and the Democrats. This is what politicians do. But I'm not sure how this would really help his cause.

With respect to the military threat, a trend with Trump is that he talks a big game to get a result, but then never does anything. Happened with NK, Iran, China, and other scenarios. He issues threats as deterrence, which is probably how he planned on leveraging the military. Not sure if the violence subsided because of those threats, or because everyone was tired or couldn't find anything else to loot, but even he isn't dumb enough to send the troops out unless it was the last resort, IMO.

And as expected, no actual "evidence" other than the people doing it were white.

If there isn't any ANTIFA threat, then I guess black people are just

Now everyone hates Drew Brees because he thinks kneeling is disrespecting his grandfathers. He is "uneducated." Doesn't he take a knee at the end of games? Does he have any white receivers he can throw the ball to?
No actual evidence? Lol. What? Because they don’t release it to you? The police chief literally says they have “definite evidence” that white nationalist groups are involved in agitating there. But Andy knows best like always. Lol. Sometimes you tell as many lies as your hero, the Donald.

No one, I repeat, no one here is saying Antifa is good or that they aren’t involved. Or that there aren’t fuckheads looting and performing acts of wanton violence amongst BLM and other African American protestors. Everyone knows this, and no one has said it’s okay. It’s only you, in your conspiracy theory head that has to have it that it’s exclusively these groups and no right wing extremists could possibly be involved. When now three of them have been arrested prepping Molotov cocktails in Vegas, numerous groups of them have been banned on Facebook and social media for agitating and planning violent acts during these protests, and we have police chiefs saying that they are involved.

But continue please, it’s exclusively Antifa that is a threat. :baus:

And no l’m not upset over Trump supporting the police, I’m upset that he continually lies and release endless streams of ridiculous propaganda, while encouraging and cheering on violence against citizens of his own country, and pulling the dictator card right out of Stalin’s playbook of calling the free press “the enemy of the people. That’s disgusting

You know who commits voter fraud? Donald Trump, that’s who.

EVERY accusation this doofus makes is a reflection of his own guilt and insecurity.
There were also a number of instances of republicans getting caught committing voter fraud in the 2016 election with the excuse that they knew democrats were doing it so they were levelling the playing field lol

What's your argument for Trump "seeking to divide the nation?" The nation is already divided as fuck, not sure how it could get anymore divided.
Are you kidding with this? Seriously unless you an ostrich with head buried in the sand, there is not a single thing anyone can say that can deny Trump doing exactly that. He has a solid 6 years in a row of nonstop dividing the country with every halfwit word he utters.

"He called out to his Mom .... who died 2 years ago on this same dayRIP
Handcuffed.
Face Down.
Knee on his neck.
They did nothing.

He called the officer "Sir."
They did nothing.

He begged for his life.
He begged for water.
He begged for mercy.
They did nothing.

His nose bled.
His body trembled.
He lost control of his bladder.
They did nothing.

He cried out, "I can't breathe."
They did nothing.

Twelve more times.

"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."
"I can't breathe."

They did nothing.

One last time, he gasped, "I can't breathe."
They did nothing.

He lost consciousness.
They did nothing.

A firefighter demanded they check his pulse.
They did nothing.

Off duty medical personnel begged them to stop.
They did nothing.

Deprived of oxygen.
His organs screaming.
His brain frantic.
They did nothing.

They watched George Floyd die.
His life fading.
A slow death.
They did nothing.

A lynching on the ground.
They did nothing.

For eight agonizing minutes.
Four officers watched.

He cried out for his Mom...
A grown man...
Crying out for the woman who gave him life....
As he feared joining her in death.
And still they did nothing.

A black man.
A gentle giant.
Murdered because he was black.
And still, they've done nothing..

The officers should be arrested.
And still they've done nothing.

Dont be too heartless to type REST IN PEACE
Rest In Peace

May justice be served

BlackLiveMatter existed before Trump, the Los Angeles riots in 1965 existed before Trump, Martin Lutter King also. When Biden says that a black man who votes for Trump is not a real black man, does he not divide society?

The racial question is an old question in the USA. It's the American social way of life that is like that, with a violent, individualistic and fragmented society , blacks live with blacks, latinos live with latinos, whites with whites, living apart they no longer understand each other, have only a sense of belonging only by their race and no longer by social class , and from this incomprehension derives a detestation and racism.

Why can't people just be reasonable instead of being such dickbags?
Because you cannot legislate dickbaggery. I think this is the fly in the ointment to a lot of social movements. Yes, racism is unacceptable. But we're never getting rid of all the racists. Just like we're not getting rid of all the sexists, people who despise Puerto Ricans, people who dismiss short people, people who hate cops, people who hate politicians, etc. You manage that. You try to reduce as much as possible to live in a civil society. But if something doesn't break the law when acted upon, that's still legal.

I think this is missing in a lot of the outrage we see over George Floyd. The truth is black people have to put up with a long history of crap: discrimination, abuse, intolerance, stink eye, exclusion, failed government, physical safety, environmental harm, etc. All no doubt and it still goes on today. So when something like Floyd's death happens, it just reopens deep, old wounds that reverberate through generations.

The trouble is that this can lead to a belief that non-violent, unarmed blacks being killed by police is an epidemic when it's more isolated cases of racist and insensitive cops that need to be dealt with as the failed and flawed humans that they are. That we all are. The systemic problems of racism are the bigger concern and do far more nefarious harm. But it's these incidents -- that when they happen they are broadcast around the world and get all the attention -- that throws the importance and impact way out of proportion.

We are never going to eradicate the Amy Coopers of the world. People have always be dicks and they will continue to be dicks. The best we can hope for is managing the numbers. So we shouldn't seem shocked and appalled when it happens. BBQ Becky, Permit Patty, and Pool Patrol Paula are part of us. Just like there's no way we can eradicate every heterosexual guy who repulses when hooked up with a trans woman. Acting as if that's the expectation is unrealistic if not outright ludicrous. Everyone accepting everyone else will never happen.

I don't think the left vs right or we vs them rhetoric is really helpful here. It only further adds to the division between people. Many of us will always think we are better, smarter or/and morally superior than the person next to us. This is true regardless of the political beliefs we hold. Most of us generally tend to be better at being critical of other people and their views, but lack the ability to put our thoughts through the same critical examination. They are my thoughts after all so they must be perfect.

I feel these kind of huge protests morph into covering more than just one issue. People with all kinds of problems, sorrows, ideologies and motivations join in. They're not necessarily a homogenous group at all. What is often common is that they all seek for some change. The spark that gets people to voice their concerns can be raising the price of petrol or it can be a police murdering a black man. I'm sure different countries will have different aching points that can lead to things boiling over. Internet and the social media also play a huge role. I doubt the the graphic content, rumours and such do much in terms calming tensions down.
It's not left or right anymore. That died with the 80s. And a lot of lazy brains that want to bucket people into old tropes because they are understandable and work for their feeble minds.

The protests are a reaction of people acting out from different places. And you'd be a fool as to think this had nothing to do with COVID-19 and lockdowns and lost jobs, because it's definitely fuel for the fire. And frustration with Trump being another factor, and his legion of apologists, regardless of circumstances.

The failing New York Times are getting so much heat for what was a harmless op ed
I don't like what he wrote, but I agree the NYT should have covered it.

I get the concerns that his article will "make NYT black employees less safe", as many are claiming. But it's not like Tom Cotton was under a gag order otherwise -- let's be real. And one thing I do think we need more of is people who have to face the reality that we don't all agree and have to sit in and live with that uncomfortable mess. For another example, I never cared much for Michael Moore, but his last movie really got the environmental truthers in straightjackets. Sure, it's full of old news and inaccuracies. But it also legitimately called out some glossed-over greenwashing too.

People don't give each other enough credit for being able to hold opposing views together at once, in complexity. I may feel like I am helping the environment by using my organic cotton tote bag and that black-or-white decision makes me feel good. But the reality shows how one of those creates as much environmental damage as 22,000 one-time use plastic bags. There are no easy answers. Every thing we do or decide is a minefield. But people want to oversimply everything and coddle us into believing there is only one path and we can simply set it and forget it, calling it in.

The world isn't like that.

Not sure how that's relevant. No more relevant than if Eric Garner had herpes. But in the case of herpes, at least he would have still had it rather than recovered.

I would rather eat my own feces than listen to Joe Rogaine.

Only two of these people are white - does that matter at all, or is it simply a policing issue involved here? If one of the officers involved had been black does the issue change at all?

From the outside it seems that the issue is simply sold as this - US law enforcement is racist, despite there being all different levels of enforcement and hundreds of different entities.

It is crazy that just about all the minority boxes where checked there, but, valid question indeed.

I've mentioned, and others are just as angry, but the other 3 are as guilty as the officer on his knee. No excuses.

Man, there are two kinds of people that don't make it out of prison: pedophiles and dirty (or any cops) cops. Prison life is going to be tough for those guys.

One of the COVID symptoms is that you can't breathe
Still don't get it. Not only could he be asymptomatic like many people, he could have recovered fully in the 8 weeks since he was diagnosed.

Is this supposed to be a justification? That everybody who watched that video will suddenly be like, "Oh, yeah, COVID... never mind." and all the riots would stop? The suggestion is beyond asinine. Not to mention that the guy could have been an asthmatic with emphysema from years of smoking and that still wouldn't justify it.

Who suggested it?
