I know plenty of people who vote (or at least claim to vote) for the party that they think would make things best for the entirety of society. I try to do so as well tbh, although for people struggling to make ends meet that is of course often not a viable alternative.

Well of course I know plenty people who do so. I am an optimist and I believe that most people want what is good for everyone.

But a higher minimum wage is the wrong solution to the real problem. The reason it is even an issue in this country is because it's being seen as a solution to fundamental structural problems in the country -- where today we no longer have teenagers working summer jobs for minimum wage but instead family breadwinners are now trying to support a family while flipping burgers. The main motivation behind raising the minimum wage is because of the people working the jobs, not the jobs themselves.

That's just so wrong on so many levels.

Every time I hear a sob story about some woman who has to support three kids on a minimum wage job making sandwiches as a fast food shop, I have to ask why is that woman attempting to raise a family with a job that's practically unskilled labor?

I like your common sense approach to the wage discussion.

Minimum wage is one of those things that do little good to the people its supposed to help(low skilled workers) but it helps the liberals and lefties of the world sleep better at night.

Its very simple, when the price for anything goes up , demand for it goes down, the market will not pay a higher price for anything including labor than what it values it at.

Indeed. And of course, artificially high wages will hurt smaller businesses more than the likes of Walmart who could probably get by with eliminating staff on some shifts to reduce losses. So most likely, some smaller players will be driven out of the market in the long run, thus decreasing competition for the major chains such as Whitetrashmart.

If not sooner? Wall Street has been running amok since the middle of the Clinton administration after Glass-Steagall was repealed. Governments and central banks have always been about protecting their interests through corruption. You may think that's free market capitalism, but it's most certainly not. You can't blame capitalism for 2008 when it was created by government policy and central banks playing god over markets.
