Bothers me that identity ideologists try to plant the mindset into kids that they can only identify with a character of the same melanin level as them. Growing up MJ was my hero and JayJay Okocha and Will Smith and Dr. Dre among others. That poisonous idea of representation only serves the purpose of dividing instead of uniting. Don't butcher literature or even worse history for the sake of representation, especially if representation means so little to you that you rather make a russian tsar black than actually film a show about some piece of actual black history or literature that nobody ever heard of and many would find interesting.
Strange how when there is a conversation about a group of people whose lived experience has been affected by stereotypes that contributed to their life outcomes, the person who has no idea what it means to be in their shoes offers to share their own experiences that "if I could, then they should too". It's absolutely not about you and who you were identifying with, as you are less likely to have to deal with stereotype threats re your capabilities and intelligence exactly because of your melanin or testosterone levels. Instead of worrying about butchering the fiction (though I was talking about creating more diverse fiction for kids), how about you start reading about studies that show how simple interventions such as self-affirming exercises or asking black kids and girls to talk about prominent blacks and women improved their confidence and academic performance. And what is the cost of having a black or female superhero?

So.

Now they want to remove Chase from Paw Patrol. My son's favorite character.

Dear Cancel Culture.

If you have a problem with an imaginary talking police dog, the problem is NOT the imaginary, talking police dog.

You fucking idiots.

To be honest, Paw Patrol is the worst kid’s show ever, and the entire show should be cancelled lol. For some bizarre reason little kids love it, my youngest nieces and nephews all do, little bohemians that they are.

I hate her, I hate that she has a voice on tv and someone thought it would be a good idea to have her retarded attention seeking ass speak.

In any case with this agitation Trump must be happy.
It will weld his electorate even more, convinced that a large part of silent America disapproves these extremist behaviors and prefers the party of order to anarchy and violence, and this agitation will make them forget his catastrophic management of the covid, and the questioning of the social and economic system which should have resulted from this crisis, when you see the millions of people who lost their jobs overnight and those who died because they couldn't afford medical care.

My mom was saying how she and her siblings would wake up at 4 am to go to her uncle's who had a tv to watch his games

Btw, this guy lost his job (that's analyzing what affects election results) for tweeting someone else's work about how unsympathetic coverage of violent protests decreased democratic vote share in 1968.

Ali was a spectacle. In the best way. He's also a key figure in the US civil rights movements of the 60s for different reasons than most.

But that last bit about the guy losing his job is weird. There's likely more to the story, but we need to ask questions like this and this information is important and needs to be shared. Political organizers should know when they are potentially harming their own cause.

Don't know about that but it's great that black kids and girls also get to have superheroes and fictional characters they can identify with. Unless of course Megyn Kelly:

Conservatives are supposed to fear masks, so no wonder why they have hang-ups about superheroes.

Though to Megyn's defense, I feel offended when the Dutch celebrate Christmas with Black Pete. I mean... why not White Pete? How am I supposed to feel included?

"Trump signed an executive order authorizing sanctions against workers from the International Criminal Court who are investigating American troops and intelligence officials for alleged war crimes in Afghanistan."

The US now officially a Banana republic:rofl:
I think this is the most undercovered story of the Trump presidency. All his violations of ethics, nepotism laws, business conflicts of interest, elimination of watchdogs... The US is fast becoming that and the basic operation of governance is corroding from within and turning into a banana republic. Saudi Arabia will soon get to call out the US on abuses at this rate.

I don't think those results hold today either. The media is different and in reporting of the events in the aftermath of this particular incident, I don't think CNN or FOX would have shown less or more sympathy towards the protesters if they were more or less violent.
I kind of have to agree with this. Blacks in Alabama getting firehosed by the cops in the 60s played to MLK's strategy of making oppression visible and allowing others to choose to be on the right side of it or not. Today's media environment immediately picks sides before the subject matter even exists, thus really eliminating a lot of the opportunities for meaningful self-reflection and sympathetic understanding.

Sounds like an awesome blaxploitation film
It does! I'd see that...

I have a different take on this. If there's no limit to the line, that should be the strategy. Because you start with Washington owning slaves, the next thing you're doing is tearing down statues and street signs for MLK because of his adultery and disregard for the exploitation of women.

It's called greasing the slippery slope.

I just realized something.

As a white man in America, shouldn't I be outraged at the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain?
You sense of good taste should be outraged.

A budding Amy Cooper in our midst.
