I wouldn’t take anything trump jr. says seriously. First of all, he’ll say anything to shit on the current party. Second of all, him and his dad are pretty cozy with Russia. So it’s just meaningless rumblings, let the maga crowd take it however they want. Just do what it takes to beat Russia

Yeah, that was a bit much. I don't understand why they are shitting on us that much. We are degrading the army of your previous arch-enemy (and currently enemy number 2) to rubble using mostly military surplus and stuff that would've needed to be utilized soon anyway. I mean, what's not to like – Russia will be degraded, no American lives lost, no new-ish stuff is used, Finland and Sweden in Nato, Europe slowly starts paying for defense and also comes back under the American wing geopolitically, American weapons are getting the best advertisement possible, and you also get us, Ukrainians, if we win, we can be your fremen army muad'dib, just point us. I see no downside, tbh. I am pretty sure Reagan would've loved this opportunity, and Bushes and Ike probably too.
Anyway, we are really grateful to all who help, especially the common American people and taxpayers. I know life is tough now with Covid and inflation. But we won't ever forget it and will be forever grateful, even if it does not mean much atm. You will get an ally willing to run through walls for you.
Because they're stupid.

A similar thing (expectations vs. reality dissonance) always baffled me.

Why the blue collar man votes for conservatives while all that conservatives want is to gift corporations infinite cheap labor supply from brown countries while virtue signaling they're pro working class

Vice versa why the blue collar man votes lefties when instead of protecting his market value all that lefties want is to flood the country with cheap labor supply from brown countries while virtue signaling they're pro working class

America should get some more political parties instead of just the two
It's easier and more cost effective when you have to bribe only two parties instead of, say, seven.

That said, most blue collar men vote because neither party gives a rat's ass about them anymore. The Democrats are guilty of pulling a GOP and going upscale and employing classicism in the process to separate themselves. That leaves the GOP, which is opportunistic enough to keep people poor and angry at the Democrats through their own deeds or misdirection or both.

A blue collar man is as treasured by the GOP as a mother to an unborn fetus: they're just a means to an end to be discarded afterwards.

Donald Trump Jr who has accomplished nothing of note in his entire life that has been spent sucking on his daddy’s teat, calling Zelensky an “ungrateful international welfare queen.”

MAGA folk really are despicable twats. Lol
Well, I am not 100% bought into Zelenskyy's "Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain" act. Sure, I support him against the Russian invasion. But he's totally self interested, which he needs to be for his country. That shows up in trying to goad foreign militaries into the fight when he starts hyperventilating about Russian military near nuclear power plants. That's all global media manipulation.

More concerning is that the Democrats don't seem to be placing enough checks and balances on how its aid is getting there and how its being used. We saw this play before when the Americans loaded up Afghanistan against Russia in the 80s. Not saying Ukraine is the same as Afghanistan and that Ukraine will start harboring anti-western terrorists stocked up with modern military missiles, but all it takes is a few bad actors in a time of war to opportunistically ensure things fall into the wrong hands and cause a whole lot of global grief.

Care to share your concerns?
Not trying to offend, I am trying to pinpoint the source of this thing. AFAIK, there are 3 oversight committees (maybe, not sure the word is correct), and so far I haven't heard about any weapon leaking somewhere, or something of this sort, which is amazing tbh considering war is going on almost a year.

They are hypocrites. You bet he’d support it Trump was the president and was helping Ukraine. But he gotta hate on it because Biden bad.

The concern would be adequate tracking of where exactly those funds are going and how they're being used. People like myself would prefer to see a paper trail of where the money is being allocated, because as swag pointed out we've spent trillions funding operations over the years and only a decade later do we discover it went to things, or groups, that wasn't in scope or the intended purpose. We also don't know if the money is truly needed since billions have already been sent.

I'm not saying Ukraine engaging in rent seeking or screwing around with the money, but this money tree needs to stop at some point because we have too many domestic issues to keep it going. Obviously I don't want Russia though.

My concerns are highly different than those on the right who don't want to support it at all simply for the reason they hate Biden and Democrats. That's why you see a lot of ugly people with their Pepe frog avatars also supporting Putin, because they're just a bunch of losers who don't understand anything other than what the far right feeds them.

This information is classified in the US? Genuinely curious, I don't know how military spending is disclosed there.

I do agree about this.
45 billion is not a small amount. That’s 300 dollars per taxpayer, or half a stimmy check. If they paid it out of the military budget, it would be fine, but they’re not doing that.

Military spending is already overinflated as is. I don’t see how we can say Ukraine is a waste since the feds throw a stupid amount of money to contractors under the guise of military goods and services and all that is just being taken by some assholes as an easy handout.
