How come?I've the iPod nano aswell(3rd generation) and I don't regret buying it whatsoever.I even watch movies on it.I watched 2 Fast 2 Furious while I was in a plane on my way to Italy.That was sexy.

meh, It's an alright music device, but the limit on the format it can play is annoying. The fact hat you need itunes, and if you choose to download songs from itunes, you can't put them on another MP3 player besides ipod sucks.
all in all I'm keeping my Nano for use in the gym, but I'm getting a new MP3 player for those long bus rides to Uni

I don't care about the formats as long as it plays mp3 and mpeg4,it's all about converting with the right program.
I agree about iTunes,it really pisses me of that you have to use it and can't just drag&drop it to the folder of the mp3 player.
I never ever downloaded a single song from iTunes and I'm pretty sure I won't in the future.I rather downlaod more or less illegaly than paying for songs I can easily get for free.I'm badass.

exactly, its a business and the best thing any business can achieve is branding. that is exactly what they have done with the ipod. they changed the game and have made alot of $$$ doing so. plus the ipod is not a horrible product as you guys are making it out to be. i dont see Creative or any other bogus brand doing what apple does and selling how apple sells. once again, don't hate

If you really wanna make your experience worthwhile, buy proper earphones for it. The standard earphones you recieve with any player are probably worth 3$ and sound awful. I bought myself Westone UM1's(about a 100$) and the sound quality between them and the standard ones is...heaven and earth.
headfi.org is a sick place to get headphone/earphone information. The usual recommendations for entry level earphones are Ultimate Ears Super Fi 3, Westone UM1, Audio Technica ATH-CK7. But that's just for the in-ear models, there are also earbuds, neck-bands, etc.

I have a bmw and Golf GTI! But I never had a 100$ earphone 
iPod makes a great product, no question. It's solid, simple, and does as advertised. But it comes at a significant marketing premium in its price, when you compare it feature-for-feature with alternates.
But the biggest headache is the closed system: no FLAC, all the iTunes garbage and aacs (not to mention how iTunes knows how to scramble a file system into something useless), etc. It's like Microsoft Windows 95 all over again.
While I love my MacBook Pro, I would probably never buy an iPod or iPhone unless the company makes some serious strategic changes in their product marketing and direction.
How's the comfort with the UE? I hear they're not too comfy.. They were my first choice but I gave up because I read they're not too comfy and supposedly they stick out of your ears too much. They sure do look classy though.
My Westone's on the other hand, feel like having a pillow in your ear. I fell asleep with them on numerous times. However, they look like an hearing-aid.

Another thing I like about my iAudio is the fact it uses a regular USB/USB mini cable which comes with pretty much every digital camera. So chances of you hooking it up to your mate's PC are pretty high. Plug it in and "open folder to view files" and it's done.

I find them pretty comfy. My case even came with five different pairs of earplug attachments to try them out for different comfort levels. I use the default ones.

all i'm saying is that they are at the top of the market because they do put out a good product. you are labeling the masses of consumers who have purchased ipods as dumb cattle when in fact apple does design a very nice piece which apparently do meet the needs of many many ppl. nowadays how much a product sells does reflect how good it is.
But you know that being at the top of the market is more than just about product. Product surely helps. But if we were to believe just market penetration as a guide, I'd be taking my wife to anniversary dinners at McDonald's.
