so while listening to music on my phone i broke the earphone thing that you insert into the slot and it got stuck in there, i opened my phone and managed to get it out, however in doing so i completely screwed the switch that places sound into the earphones or the speakers.

i managed to get sound from the speakers, but only when the headphones are plugged in. anybody has any idea?

iRiver is pretty nice, I've had two of them. The one thing that bugs me, at least on the ones I had, is that it supports large files really really poorly. I listen to stuff like audiobooks and the iRiver firmware freaks out when the track is longer than 30min.

Never used a Zen but it's my firm (personal) opinion Creative can't make anything worthwhile.

This is a great site for mp3 players, non iPod. They have good reviews.

I've had my iRiver for years. Brilliant stuff. Still has features and standards that the iPod hasn't even come close to supporting years later. :pado:

so i just got it today, been listening for a couple of hours and might i say without exaggerating that if just 10% of the ipod owners got an iaudio 7 we would have no more wars

    Glad you like it, Besmir.

How are you coping with the "sliding" surface, which is a tad sensitive I might say? It was really awkward for the first few days, after that, it began to be kinda cool. :p

well, after reading the reviews i expecting it to be worse. the buttons do not get pressed when you are carrying it in your pocket, just have to be careful when you have it in your hands. what i am not getting used to though, is how you have to use two different buttons to go up a level when it is at the song level, you know first menu then record. i appreciate the fact that i can go to the main menu quicker but when i am not paying attention it takes me a while to get the thing to do what i want it to do.

by the way, finally a device that let's you choose which buttons can be still used when you have it under lock. i have been wondering why more do not do it, since i got a state of the art sony portable cassette player and i could change the volume when on hold.

It just takes time getting used to, took me a week or so to get a hang of it. Now I can do pretty much everything with it with my eyes closed.

Indeed, that's one of the best options. Customize the buttons to do what you want while it's locked. Simply brilliant.
